Gregg Satterlee Tames the Grove; LOLMDS Weekend on Tap

Indiana, Pennsylvania (03/28/17) – For the first time in 2017 Gregg Satterlee parked his Satterlee Petroleum Distributors #22 Rocket Chassis XR1/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane with a triumph at the legendary Williams Grove Speedway on Friday evening.

Behind the wheel of the Satterlee Petroleum Distributors #22 Super Late Model, Gregg Satterlee invaded Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania) on Friday evening. In a field of 18 Super Late Models, Gregg locked into the feature with a heat race victory. Taking advantage of a late-race caution, Satterlee wheeled his way to his first victory of the season and a $2,000 payday. Gary Stuhler, Matt Cosner, Coleby Frye, and Tyler Horst completed the Top-5 finishers.

On Saturday Gregg traveled to Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) for an unsanctioned contest. Drawing 32 entries for the Blastoff Opener, Satterlee landed a Top-5 finish in the main event. With a $3,000 payday on the line in the 35-lapper, Gregg posted a 5th-place finish behind Jason Covert, Kenny Moreland, Gary Stuhler, and Mike Lupfer.

“Speedweeks definitely didn’t go the way that we had hoped, so it’s great to get things pointed back in the right direction with our first win of the season,” noted Satterlee. “Hopefully we can carry this momentum into the upcoming weekend’s events.”

For full results from these events, please visit www.WilliamsGrove.com www.PortRoyalSpeedway.com .

Satterlee will head south this weekend to compete in a trio of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events. Action opens on Thursday night at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee) with a $10,000-to-win event. Friday evening will take the team to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia), where another $10,000 payday will be on the line. The weekend will draw to a close on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama), where a $12,000 winner’s check will be posted. Kulhanek Earns First Podium Finish of the Season With ASCS Gulf South

Inside Line Promotions - HIGHLANDS, Texas (March 27, 2017) - Ray Allen Kulhanek scored his first podium finish of the season last Saturday at Battleground Speedway during the 10th annual Gulf Coast Nationals.

Kulhanek, who is teaming up with Marvin and Peggy Pearson this season, opened the ASCS Gulf South Region event by maneuvering from fifth to third place in a heat race, which locked him into the feature redraw.

"I had a pretty good run to get close to second," he said. "We had a restart and I just didn't get quite as good of a start and then I just maintained in third. I wasn't bad, but I wasn't great. I knew as long as I got to third we should be good enough to make the redraw so that was the main focus."

Kulhanek then pulled the No. 2 during the random redraw to line up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

He quickly took the lead before being nipped at the finish line for the top spot on the opening lap. However, Kulhanek regained the lead entering turn one. He led the next three laps before two competitors passed him before Lap 7.

"I generally struggle with the track conditions we had," he said. "I'm not terrible on rough tracks, but I don't seem to judge it the right way. I judged it wrong on Saturday and we should have made a little different change. I judged it where the bottom was the place to be and it turned out not to be that way.

"We took off and got the lead, but I never felt good. I moved all over the track trying to pick up speed. The two guys who finished in front of us were a heck of a lot better than we were."

Kulhanek maintained third place for the remainder of the race. His podium finish was good enough to give him a 12-point lead in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings.

"If that was a bad run for us then there's not much to be disappointed on, but I generally don't take a front row starting spot and give it up," he said. "That was the most disheartening part. We'll try to learn from it and move on."

Tankersley Fights Ignition Problem During ASCS Gulf South Season Debut

Inside Line Promotions - HIGHLANDS, Texas (March 28, 2017) - Channin Tankersley was hampered by an ignition problem during his season debut with Kyle Turner Motorsports last Saturday at Battleground Speedway.

The ASCS Gulf South Region event began on a positive note as Tankersley pulled a low pill draw to start a heat race on the pole.

"Everything ran great in hot laps," he said. "In the heat race we jumped out to the lead and led a lap and then the motor started to lose cylinders so I pulled off."

Tankersley was unable to finish the heat race and the team worked hard to fix the problem prior to the main event, which they started at the back of the field.

"We put a new MSD box on it and went through the fuel system," he said. "We went out and did a hot-lap session during intermission and the engine ran great. I went to start the A Main and right at the start the engine started doing it again so I probably didn't make a lap. Come to find out a few people have been having the same problem with the mag."

Tankersley was credited with a 17th-place finish and he said the team is going to hot lap the car this weekend to make sure that fixes the problem.

Hagar Eyeing Victory at I-30 Speedway Saturday Following Major Week

Inside Line Promotions - MARION, Ark. (March 28, 2017) - Derek Hagar is on cloud nine after two life-changing events this week.

Hagar got engaged to long-time girlfriend, Heather Mccomber, before the duo announced Monday that they are expecting a child in late November.

"It's been a big week for me," Hagar said. "Now I just have to go out there and win more races and win more money."

The next opportunity to do that is this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., where the ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Red River Region are co-sanctioning an event at the bullring.

"They've made a lot of changes to the race track so I can't wait to get there," he said. "They put more banking into it and changed the dirt up a bit so you can mat it to the floor. We know we can get around that place. If they do what I've heard that fits into my driving style."

Hagar has an outstanding track record at the quarter-mile oval. He has won main events in four of the last six seasons. During that time Hagar has eight podiums, 13 top fives and 27 top 10s in 35 races since 2011.

"I-30 Speedway is close to home so we have a lot of laps there and that always helps," he said. "I enjoy racing it and am looking forward to our first race there this season."

Last weekend's Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout with the NCRA Series at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., was postponed until next month because of rain.

SEASON STATS -

6 races, 1 win, 2 top fives, 2 top 10s, 2 top 15s, 3 top 20s

Sides Wins World of Outlaws Heat Race and Dash Before Bad Luck Strikes at Stockton

Inside Line Promotions - STOCKTON, Calif. (March 28, 2017) - If anyone in California has a monkey cage, please bring it to the Jason Sides pit area at the next World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race.

Sides, who has had a monkey on his back throughout the first month of the season, seemed to have his fortune turn around last Saturday during the FVP Western Spring Shootout at Stockton Dirt Track.

He qualified second quickest in his group before winning both a heat race - his third of the year with the series - and the dash to line up on the pole for the main event.

"After the dash we had a little oil on the floor board," he said. "We reached in there and snugged the power steering line. When you do that and don't hold the line it will move the hose. I tightened it and when I did it turned the hose to the steering box mount. I think that rubbed a hole in it. I made it a lap and a half. It rubbed right through and blew all the oil out."

Sides took the lead on the start of the main event and he completed the first lap before a caution came out.

"On that restart Brad (Sweet) got by in turns one and two," he said. "By that time I was trying to hang on to it. I had no steering. After about three laps it was going where it wanted to and I was being passed so I decided to pull in."

Sides was unable to finish the race after all the power steering fluid had drained, which cost a shot at his first win of the season and relegated him to a 24th-place finish.

"It was a good night going, but we just didn't get the results," he said. "Hopefully the speed and everything but the bad luck will continue the next few races."

Sides has a tripleheader on deck this week with World of Outlaws events on Wednesday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., for the Brad Sweet Placerville Short Track Showdown presented by NAPA Auto Parts; on Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., for the Kings Outlaw Shootout; and on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown.

Sides finished a career-best third at Placerville Speedway in 2015. He has placed 12th at Keller Auto Speedway during his two most recent visits and he has a top-10 finish at Perris Auto Speedway each of the last two seasons.
