Garrett Alberson and Roberts Motorsports Making Move to Longhorn Chassis

DUBUQUE, Iowa (05/22/23) – Garrett Alberson and Roberts Motorsports are making a change in their racing program as they prepare for the second half of the 2023 season. The New Mexico native and the Illinois-based team have made the decision to switch from Black Diamond Race Cars to Longhorn Chassis for their familiar No. 58 entry.

“This has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. Ronnie and Terri Stuckey are like family to me and my wife (Dani), and they’ve helped me so much in my career in many different ways,” Alberson shared.

“To take our program to the next level I need to be more consistent, Ken (Roberts) and I think this chassis change could be an important key to rounding out my skills as a driver.”

For Ken Roberts the change to a different chassis isn’t taken lightly either.

“My team has been with Ronnie Stuckey and his cars for about two decades now, and we’ve enjoyed a lot of success along the way. In fact, what we accomplished last year with the Lucas Oil (Late Model Dirt) Series was spectacular and we’re really proud of it, and there’s no way we could’ve done it without the support of the Stuckey family and Black Diamond Race Cars” Roberts noted.

“To echo what Garrett said, the Stuckey family is like my family, and I hold them in the highest regard.”

The team plans to debut their new Longhorn Chassis in early June.

With the wins he also retook LOLMDS point lead.

“Things went really good for us on the track last week in Iowa, which was a welcome reprieve after a lot of challenges on-track the week before in Illinois. However, we did have some bad luck leaving 300 Raceway on Friday night, when the souvenir trailer ended upside down in the ditch. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the trailer was destroyed,” Thornton Jr. said. “We’ve got a great team with a lot of great supporters here at SSI Motorsports. I’m back in Indiana working on getting a souvenir trailer going early this week, and then we are headed to the Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway, which I’m really excited for.”

For Wednesday's $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway, Ricky followed up the sixth-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a third-place finish in his heat. Wheeling his way into the top-five again in the feature, Thornton passed six cars to place fifth.

With his pair of Top-5 finishes Ricky climbed to sixth in the latest miniseries standings.

In a field of 26 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on Friday at 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) for the You Call We Haul 50, Ricky got off to a hot start with the fast time honors prior to picking up a flag-to-flag victory in his heat. Overtaking early leader Mason Zeigler on the 11th circuit of the feature, Thornton charged to his ninth win of the season and eighth-career LOLMDS triumph.

He bagged a $12,000 payday ahead of Tim McCreadie, Hudson O’Neal, Mason Zeigler, and Tyler Erb.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday with another stop at another Iowa oval but with the same result; Thornton parking his SSI Motorsports backed entry in Victory Lane. Nick Hoffman Banks $10,000 in Muskingum’s Jim Dunn Memorial
Four-Race World of Outlaws Swing on Tap

Mooresville, North Carolina (05/22/23) – Nick Hoffman piloted the Tye Twarog Racing / NOS Energy Drink No. 9 C&W Trucking / Longhorn Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to a $10,000 victory on Saturday night at Muskingum County Speedway with the XR Workin’ Man Series.

His victory in the Jim Dunn Memorial marked his first of the 2023 campaign.

"The weekend may not have played out as originally scheduled due to Saturday night’s rainout at Port Royal (Speedway), but it definitely worked in our favor with a $10,000 win at Muskingum County (Raceway),” Hoffman said. “We hit the ground running with a good qualifying lap, and that put us into contention in the feature. Once I showed (Brian Shirley) a nose he got aggressive there in lapped traffic and that’s ultimately what won the race, but our race car was good all night. I lost to him in that dash deal and I knew I was gonna be pretty good for this 50 laps. I got a little tight there at the end and was able to manage.

“It just means a lot to take this Tye Twarog Racing hot rod to Victory Lane. Tye gives me a great opportunity here, and I couldn’t be more thankful to everyone who supports this program.”

Headed east to kick off a swing with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series, Nick Hoffman unloaded his Tye Twarog Racing No. 9 Late Model into battle at Marion Center Raceway (Marion, Pa.) on Friday evening for the Connor Bobik Memorial.

With the massive 51-car field split into two groups for time trials, Hoffman clocked in third-fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race.

Chasing a $10,000 payday in the weekend opener, Nick advanced through the field eight spots in the 40-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Ryan Gustin, Shane Clanton, and Brandon Sheppard across the line with Bobby Pierce coming in fifth.

On Saturday after the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series event at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway fell to wet weather, the team trekked to Muskingum County Speedway (Zanesville, Ohio) to compete with the XR Workin’ Man Series for the 41st annual Jim Dunn Memorial.

Following the fastest lap in a field of 34 cars, Nick outran Tyler Carpenter in his heat race to pick up the win. Soaring into the lead near the middle stages of the feature after the frontrunner tangled with a lapped car, Hoffman led the remainder of the 50-lapper to capture his first win of the season and a $10,000 payday.

He took the checkers ahead of Tyler Carpenter, Jacob Hawkins, Gordy Gundaker, and Gregg Satterlee.

Full results from the events are available at www.WorldofOutlaws.com and www.XRWorkinMan.com .

This week will find Hoffman entering a quartet of World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series events. Action opens on Tuesday at Stateline Speedway (Busti, N.Y.) with a $10,000-to-win program. From there the action moves to Ohio’s Sharon Speedway for the Battle at the Border, which includes $6,000-to-win programs on Thursday and Friday followed by a $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

Nick is currently fifth in the latest WoO series standings and sits atop the Rookie of the Year battle.

Nick Hoffman and Tye Twarog Racing would like to thank all their marketing partners, which include NOS Energy Drink, C&W Trucking, Runkle Construction, Haulin’ Haskells, Tri-Valley Equipment Sales, LSR, Bilstein, Eibach, XS Power Batteries, Earnhardt Technologies, Allstar Performance, Fast Shafts, QuickCar Racing Products, Schoenfeld Headers, Wilwood Dis Brakes, Strange Oval, Winters Rearends, Jerico, DirtCarLift.com, Stakt, Bexil, FK Rod Ends, Yeti, Blue Deuce Tavern, Bell Helmets, MPI Performance, K1 Racing Gear, The Joie of Seating, and MyRacePass.com Marketing & PR Services.

31st Annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 this Weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway

SHINNSTON, W.Va. O’Neal held back the challenges of a hard-charging Bobby Pierce for the five-figure triumph.

“It was a busy but successful week in Iowa. We started things with a win on Wednesday at Marshalltown (Speedway) in what was a fun race with Bobby (Pierce). Thursday night at Davenport Speedway, (Dennis) Erb Jr. had us all covered but we still got a second-place finish,” O’Neal commented. “We added a third at 300 Raceway on Friday and a sixth at 34 (Raceway) on Saturday. Overall it was a good four-day run for this Rocket1 Racing team. I’m excited to get back to Lucas Oil Speedway and go after another Show-Me 100 title this weekend.”

Back in action on Tuesday evening, Rocket1 Racing and Hudson O’Neal followed the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries to Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway  for the fifth stop of the tour.

Earning the second-starting position for the feature, O’Neal grabbed the lead on the third circuit and kept a threatening Bobby Pierce at bay throughout the 50-lapper to claim his seventh win of the 2023 campaign and his second consecutive victory in the event at the Iowa oval.

He pocketed the $23,023 payday ahead of Pierce, Brandon Overton, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Tim McCreadie.
On the quarter-mile bullring on Wednesday night at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway, O’Neal secured his spot into the $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America feature with a runner-up showing in his heat race.

Reeling in a podium finish in the 50-lap feature, Hudson passed five cars to finish second, chasing Dennis Erb Jr. across the line.

With the performances Hudson took over the top spot in the miniseries standings as he pursues the $75,000 title.

For the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned You Call We Haul 50 on Friday evening at 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa), Hudson’s second-place finish in his heat placed him on the second row for the main event. With $12,000 on the line, O’Neal rallied to a third-place finish after getting shuffled on a late restart.

The LOLMDS doubleheader weekend wrapped up on Saturday for Rocket 1 Racing at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) with O’Neal qualifying for the $15,000-to-win CRST Transportation Solution 50 with a third-place run in his heat. Seeking a $3,999 first-place payday, Sanders and his ARMI No. 20 Dirt Modified team were among 27 United States Racing Association (USRA) Modified entries at the 1/3-mile, high-banked clay oval for the fourth annual Karl Fenske Memorial.

The Modified ace from Happy, Texas, notched a third-place finish in his heat race and started from the pole for the night’s 39-lap A-Main.

Sanders led wire-to-wire to take the win and register his third A-Main triumph of the year.

Brandon Davis, Alex Williamson, Parker Hale and Lucas Schott followed Sanders under the checkered flag.

Sanders then visited Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for the track’s weekly show on Saturday, where he was one of 33 drivers entered in the USRA Modified division.

Sanders scored a heat-race win and started eighth for the 25-lap A-Main on the 3/8-mile clay oval. He was unable to complete all the laps and came home with a 24th-place result after contact with another car flattened his left-rear tire, snapping a string of 13 consecutive top-10 finishes.

Full results are available at www.usraracing.com and www.deercreekspeedway.com .

Sanders will be back at Deer Creek Speedway this Thursday – Saturday for the 20th annual Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) LRS Waste Services Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge.

The three-race swing opens with a $3,000-to-win event on Thursday, followed by a $5,000-to-win program on Friday. Action draws to a close on Saturday night with a $10,000-to-win slate.

On Sunday evening the action shifts to Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa) for a $10,000-to-win Summit USMTS affair.

Rodney currently sits second in the latest Summit USMTS National Championship battle, just 17 markers behind leader, Jake O’Neil.

Schatz perfect in Ohio double; Buckeye State visit continues with doubleheader at Atomic

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 5th | 2778 points
Date: Friday, May 19th
Event: Outlaws Return to Attica Raceway Park
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Attica Raceway Park (Attica, Ohio)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (4th)

Date: Saturday, May 20th
Event: Outlaws Return to Sharon Speedway
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (1st)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 22, 2023) - Two starts in the Buckeye State resulted in two victories for ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, sweeping appearances at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, May 19, and Sharon Speedway on Saturday, May 20. The victories, bumping Schatz’ career total with the World of Outlaws to 309, were accomplished in all-around fantastic fashion, giving the Fargo, North Dakota, native his fifth-ever at Attica - the most in World of Outlaws history - and his first-ever at Sharon Speedway; a stat somewhat surprising for the ten-time champion.

“This is the first time I’ve won here? I lose track, man, I’m getting old,” Schatz said with a smile at Sharon Speedway. “I’ve been around a long time, and it feels good to still be here. How about this race team? These guys are pretty incredible. What they’re doing. The way this car is. I can’t say enough about them. It’s pretty unreal. What a great weekend.”

Schatz’ winning campaign at Attica, which commenced from fourth on the grid, did not take full form until just before the white flag was displayed, eventually sliding race leader, Rico Abreu, through turns three and four.

At Sharon Speedway, Schatz started from the pole position, forced to fend off a war from Jason Johnson Racing’s Carson Macedo, as well as a late race takeover bid from David Gravel and Sheldon Haudenschild.

A pair of late race cautions would ultimately make the Sharon Speedway finish very interesting, the first occurring with seven remaining, then another with just three circuits left on the countdown.

Incidentally, Schatz’ first-ever Sharon Speedway win occurred on Tony Stewart’s birthday.

“During racing, I could move around the racetrack,” Schatz explained of his speed at Sharon. “I could kind of go anywhere. And there’s not very many nights you get a great thing like that. Last night at Attica we needed lapped traffic. Tonight, I had a good race car, so hats off to my Carquest team.”

ON DECK:
Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with another action-packed slate through the Buckeye State, taking over the high banks of Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, May 26-27. Memorial Day weekend will then cap with the Memorial Day Spectacular at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on Monday, May 29.

Bayston and CJB Motorsports consistent through Attica and Sharon swing; Heading for Atomic

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 7th | 2694 points

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CARLISLE, Pa. (May 22, 2023) - It was a hard-fought, yet consistent weekend through the Buckeye State for Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports, and although the Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based operation is still in the hunt for their first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory of the season, consistency is the next best accomplishment.

Bayston, ace of the TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, finished tenth and seventh in their consistent stretch through Ohio, opening things with a tenth-place score at Attica Raceway Park on Friday, May 19, followed by a seventh-place outcome at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, May 20. Bayston’s Sharon outcome also featured a five-spot rally, bouncing ahead after starting 12th on the A-Main grid.

The Lebanon, Indiana, native remains seventh in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series driver standings, now with 12 top-ten finishes in 21 Series starts.

“I am surprised, but thankful we got both nights of racing in this weekend. Forecasts were giving us poor to little hope all week, but Attica and Sharon did whatever they had to do to make it all possible,” Bayston expressed. “We were able to race well both nights. Third place finishes during each of our heat races allowed for smooth transitions. We are very close to getting our full package together.”

Brian Brown hard charges at Wayne County, wins at Knoxville; Big holiday weekend ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (May 22, 2023) - It was a week to remember for Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing, not only hard charging their way through a stout High Limit Sprint Car Series field during action at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, on Tuesday, May 16, but eventually capping the stretch with a victory at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 20. A milestone triumph, Brown’s win total at the Sprint Car Capital of the World now stands at 61, officially surpassing all-time great Doug Wolfgang on the win chart.

Brown’s Knoxville victory, accomplished from the inside of row four, was just as impressive as it was lucrative, utilizing an early race restart to blast around Austin McCarl in turns one and two, then taking command from Kerry Madsen in the very next set of corners. The win secured Brown a $5,000 share; his first victory of 2023.

As noted, Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy's Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, HAWK Hunting, Ditzfeld Transfer, No. 21 sprint car, opened his recent week with a Tuesday night High Limit Sprint Car Series stop at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. Although forced to take a Series provisional, Brown was not deterred, eventually charging his way to fourth after starting 25th on the $32,023-to-win grid.

Other recent highlights include finishing seventh with the POWRi 410 sprint cars during a Friday night visit to Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa; Brown started tenth.

“In all, a great night at Knoxville and a great week for our Casey’s/FVP No. 21 team,” Brown stated. “Our efforts at Knoxville were strong all night. I was a little nervous about starting seventh, especially with so many great guys in front of me, but Chad, my Dad, JB, and Lath gave me a great car. The confidence took care of itself and I was able to put my car wherever I wanted.

“I’m very excited about where we are as a team right now,” Brown added. “Looking forward to building even more momentum.”

ON DECK:
Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing will continue their 2023 campaign with a four-race slate across the Midwest and upper-Midwest beginning with an ASCS National start at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on Friday, May 26. Ian Madsen and TKS Motorsports power to a top-five at Lee County; Knoxville visit ahead

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (May 22, 2023) - Ian Madsen and Mitchellville, Iowa’s TKS Motorsports were strong from start to finish on Friday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, capping the POWRi 410 program with not only a top-five outcome, but an impressive preliminary effort to boot. Madsen, who finished fourth on Friday night to secure his first top-five score of the year for TKS Motorsports, started seventh in his A-Main efforts, activating the evening program with the sixth-fastest time in qualifying, followed by a third-place effort during his respective heat race.

Despite all-out success on Friday night, Madsen and TKS Motorsports were unable to harness that momentum into Saturday, forced to settle with a 19th-place outcome at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. A flat tire during A-Main action was the final culprit, negating any and all potential the team may have gathered.

“Not the Knoxville ending we wanted, but it’s certainly not from a lack of trying,” Troy Renfro, owner of the TKS Motorsports, Albaugh - Your Alternative, Iowa Barnstormers, Des Moines Industrial Products, deWit Construction, Jersey Freeze Ice Cream, Freedom Concrete Pumping, No. 2KS sprint car, said. “Overall, pleased with how our evening went at Lee County. We want to build on this and create similar success at Knoxville. That’s always been the goal.”

ON DECK:
TKS Motorsports and Ian Madsen will continue their 2023 campaign with another visit to the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 27.
