Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Weekend Postponed by Beta
Track Returns to Action with Golden Egg Street Stock Nationals on Oct. 15-17

Columbus, Mississippi (09/22/20) – Officials with Magnolia Motor Speedway have made the tough decision to postpone the 2020 edition of the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100. The event was slated for this Thursday-Saturday at the Mississippi oval.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Beta are forecasted to drop as much as four inches of rain on the speedway over the course of the next few days with showers possibly lingering into the weekend. As a result, track staff have made the decision to postpone this weekend’s schedule to allow teams and fans time to make plans to attend other events.

A possible reschedule date is being evaluated and details will be released as they are finalized.

“Man, it stinks. That’s all you can say. We’ve been watching the forecast and hoping that it would improve but it continues to get worse. Local meteorologists have indicated that our area will receive heavy rain from what’s left of the tropical storm from tonight through at least Friday morning. That would leave our pits, parking and track too wet to manage, and on such a big event I don’t want to put our teams and fans in a bad spot. Several folks will begin heading this way on Wednesday, so we wanted to make a decision in advance that would save everyone time and money.” said track promoter, Johnny Stokes.

“We’re currently taking a look at the schedule to try and find possible reschedule dates that don’t conflict with other area events.”

Magnolia Motor Speedway is currently slated to next return to action on October 15-17 with the sixth annual Golden Egg Street Stock Nationals, which was postponed from April during the pandemic shutdown. The weekend includes $1,000-to-win for Street Stocks on Friday and $2,500-to-win for Street Stocks on Saturday. Full details will be released in the next few weeks as they are finalized.
