Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Remaining Finales Rescheduled
All Tire Samples Conform to Benchmarks

Columbus, Mississippi (09/27/18) – Officials with Magnolia Motor Speedway have announced that the remaining features for the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 presented by Country Pleasin Sausage have been rescheduled for Thursday, November 22.

With 37 laps remaining in the Durrence Layne Crate Late Model feature, rain began to fall on the gumbo oval on Saturday, September 22. Persistent rainfall forced the remainder of the program to be postponed.

The $3,000-to-win Durrence Layne Crate Late Model feature will resume with 13 laps in the history books. The $2,000-to-win, Mississippi Street Stock Series (MSSS) event will also be held as well as the $1,200-to-win, Durrence Layne Sportsman Late Model feature.

“The rainout left us looking for the best possible reschedule scenario, and we decided that a majority of these teams will be back for the Possum Town Grand Prix over the Thanksgiving weekend, so that date made the most sense,” Magnolia Motor Speedway promoter, Johnny Stokes said. “Weather may have delayed the finish of our event, but I want to thank all of the racers and fans who supported us. This is one of our most successful events that we’ve had, and it’s because of all the great folks who came out to support the show.”

The make-up features will be held in conjunction with the practice night for the annual Possum Town Grand Prix at the state-of-the-art, 3/8-mile oval. An Open Practice Session will be held for all divisions from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. with pit admission being $20. After the completion of the Open Practice Session, teams, who elect to not practice, may enter the pit area with their armbands from the rain delayed show.

The make-up event will resume shortly after 8 p.m. with a quick hot lap session for drivers, who are locked into all three features. Immediately following the hot lap sessions the three features will be contested.

Grandstand admission on Thursday, November 22 will be free for both the Open Practice and the completion of the racing program from Saturday, September 22.

The Thursday night program leads into the annual Possum Town Grand Prix, which will see the Durrence Layne National Dirt Late Model Series battling for a $10,000-top prize. Heat races and qualifying will be held on Friday, while Saturday night will see B-Mains and the 100-lap finale. Also, in action will be Factory Stocks, Street Stocks, and Durrence Layne Sportsman.

More weekend details will be released in the coming weeks.

In addition, tire test results from the Super Late Model portion of the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100. All submitted tires met the required benchmarks, and prize money was sent out on Thursday, September 27 via certified mail. Dale McDowell picked up the win with Austin Rettig and Billy Moyer completing the podium.

Before the rain arrived, Scooter Ware streaked to the $1,000 top prize in the Factory Stock finale.
