Mallett Bound for Jackson Motor Speedway as ASCS National Tour Season Starts

Inside Line Promotions - GREENBRIER, Ark. (March 27, 2023) - This weekend presents the second attempt for Jordon Mallett to kick off the ASCS National Tour season.

Mallett has been dormant the last couple of weeks after the originally scheduled season opener rained out. The next opportunity comes this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss.

"The rainouts the last few weekends is how it is this time of year," he said. "At least we've already ran almost 10 races this season and a lot of guys haven't been able to race. We learned a lot down in Florida in February and hopefully we'll pick up where we left off."

Mallett has enjoyed success at Jackson Motor Speedway, including a top-10 run during each of his last four starts following a 20th-place result during his debut in 2016. He posted a fourth-place run in 2017, a seventh-place outing in 2018 and a third-place finish in 2020 prior to last year's trip to Victory Lane.

"We finally won one last year, but it seemed we were cursed for a while," he said. "We wound up on the podium or the top five about every time we were there before we finally got it done. The stars were aligned and everything was good.

"That place can be really, really good and really, really racy. Last year it was up against the curb for the whole feature. We've been there before when it's been predominately around the bottom, too. It's a unique place. Both ends are different so that makes it a little more exciting."

This year marks Mallett's return to a full-time ASCS National Tour schedule. He raced for points in 2019 and in 2020, finishing ninth and sixth, respectively, in the championship standings. Following a couple of years of doing a pick-and-choose schedule, Mallett is rejoining the ASCS National Tour in search of a career-best campaign.

"I'm optimistic," he said. "If we can do our job and go at it race by race I think we can contend. We know how to points race pretty well. I think that's an aid to us. The last couple of years we got away from the points racing. So I think we'll have a good balance of being able to points race, but also race for wins at the same time."

SEASON STATS -

9 races, 0 wins, 1 top five, 4 top 10s, 4 top 15s, 5 top 20s

Kyle Beard Victorious in MSCCS Opener at Jackson
Second Win of 2023 Worth $3,000 for Arkansas Racer

TRUMANN, Ark. (03/27/23) – Kyle Beard continued his early season success by picking up a $3,000 victory on Saturday night behind the wheel of his Gary Beard Trucking No. 86 Mann Motorsports / Black Diamond Race Cars / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

His latest conquest was achieved at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Miss.) in the season opener for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Models.

“Jackson (Motor Speedway) has been good to us the past few years. That place just seems to fit my driving style. We got to the lead early and was able to drive away from the field to the win. My team gave me a great car,” Beard said. “We’re thinking about taking the Modified to Ark-La-Tex (Speedway) this weekend for the USMTS event. Just keeping an eye on the weather right now.”

Kyle Beard and the Mann Motorsports team returned to action on Saturday evening with a visit to Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Miss.) to compete in the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) tour opener.

With 22 Late Models entered, Beard followed up the second-fastest qualifying effort with a third-place finish in the dash. After an early battle with front-row starter Brian Rickman, Kyle regained the lead on the 11th circuit and led the remainder of the 40-lapper to claim his second win of the season and a $3,000 payday.

He finished 4.545 seconds ahead of B.J. Robinson with Rickman, Mike Palasini Jr. and Neil Baggett completing the top-five finishers.

Full results from the event are available at www.StateSeries.com .

Beard is tentatively planning to take the Mann Motorsports No. 86 Modified into battle this weekend at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) in the 10th annual USMTS Cajun Clash. The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) weekend includes a $3,000-to-win program on Thursday, a $5,000-to-win slate on Friday, and a $10,000-to-win event on Saturday.

Schatz, ace of the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, MadJax XSeries, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, kicked off his recent weekend with a fifth-place score at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama, on Friday, March 24. The ten-time champ started eighth before powering his way to fourth, later forced to take a backseat to fellow championship contender, David Gravel.

Impressive enough, Schatz did one better the following evening and finished fourth in Magnolia Motor Speedway’s Black Ice Brawl on Saturday, March 25, battling in the third spot early before dueling with Carson Macedo and David Gravel. Although each clawed their way ahead, Schatz maintained focus and eventually worked his way back to fourth, reclaiming the position from Macedo.

Schatz’ Magnolia stat card also included a dash appearance, in which he started and finished third, as well as a runner-up performance in his respective heat race.
As mentioned, Schatz is now seventh in the World of Outlaws championship standings padded by five top-ten outcomes in his first eight starts, four of which are top-fives.

Bayston and CJB Motorsports battle at the top at Talladega; Two-day Texas stop ahead

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 8th | 1030 points

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CARLISLE, Pa. (March 27, 2023) - Lebanon, Indiana’s Spencer Bayston may have been forced to face-off at two new facilities during the recent weekend, following the Greatest Show On Dirt to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama, and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi, but the 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year was well prepared and well rehearsed, piloting the CJB Motorsports, TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, No. 5 sprint car to a solid third-place outcome in Talladega’s Sprint Car Showdown on Friday, March 24.

Although just short of attaining his first triumph of the season, Bayston, who started fifth on the evening grid, did everything he could to make things interesting at the “Hornet’s Nest,” ultimately powering ahead to pressure defending Series champion, Brad Sweet, and eventual Talladega winner, Buddy Kofoid. The podium result was Bayston’s first of the season, igniting the evening with the second-fastest qualifying time and a heat race victory.

Despite all efforts, Bayston was unable to match his Talladega performance at Magnolia Motor Speedway the following evening; he finished 13th after starting from the inside of row eight.

“We were faced with two new tracks this weekend, but to come out of the box and battle for a podium in my first visit to Talladega is pretty special…a true testament to the work this crew has been putting in. Overall, just a really solid performance by this CJB Motorsports team. We were well balanced and I was able to make some good decisions that kept us in contention,” Spencer Bayston explained. “Magnolia caught us by surprise in some respect. Things were a little different than what we expected which, unfortunately, put us too far behind too early. It was a battle to claw ourselves back out of the hole. We’re racing with the best drivers and teams in the world, so if you find yourself in a hole early, it can be tough to get back out again. It’s our goal to have an overall package to get us out of those holes.”

ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with the two-day Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1.
