Mike Marlar Lands in Iron-Man Victory Lane at Lake Cumberland
411 Motor Speedway and Dirt Track World Championship Up Next

WINFIELD, Tenn. (10/10/22) – Mike Marlar bounced back from bad luck on Thursday night at Tri-County Racetrack to pick up his 11th win of the year on Saturday night in Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series action at Kentucky’s Lake Cumberland Speedway.

Marlar claimed a $7,500 payday in the Lake Cumberland Classic aboard his Delk Equipment Sales / Tri-Rivers Enterprises No. 157 Can-Am Auto Salvage / Longhorn Chassis / Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“It just feels like we are snakebit right now in the Castrol (FloRacing Night in America) events. If it can go wrong, it does. We had a deal at Tri-County (Racetrack) on Thursday night, where the door panel kept getting into the tire under green flag conditions. We had two flats in the heat race and just decided to call it a night early,” Marlar shared. “On Saturday we headed back to Kentucky and got the job done at Lake Cumberland Speedway.

“We’ve got a busy week in front of us, and hopefully we can get the Castrol FloRacing Night in America monkey off our back on Tuesday at 411 (Motor Speedway), and then from there we’ll head to the Dirt Track World Championship. A big thanks goes out to my team and my sponsors. Through the thick and the thin they always have my back.”

Mike Marlar made the trip to Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, N.C.) on Thursday evening to compete in the eighth round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America tour.

Drawing 35 Late Models for the 17th running of the FK Rod Ends Tar Heel 53, Marlar dealt with tire issues in his heat race that buried him deep in his B-Main. Slated to start in seventh in the consolation event, Mike was a scratch from the 10-lapper.

For the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series-sanctioned Lake Cumberland Classic on Saturday at Lake Cumberland Speedway (Burnside, Ky.), Mike followed up the fastest qualifying lap with a flag-to-flag victory in the 40-lap feature. He claimed a $7,500 payday and his 11th win of the season ahead of his brother Camaron, Michael Chilton, Justin Rattliff, and Jesse Lay.

(October 10, 2022) - Although concluding his 2022 Pennsylvania tenure on a rather frustrating note, failing to qualify for Port Royal Speedway’s Nittany Showdown finale featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing are already looking ahead, set to rejoin the Greatest Show On Dirt for their final Midwest appearance of the season Friday and Saturday, October 14-15.

Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy's Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Rowdy Energy, Ditzfeld Transfer, Champion Brands, MC Power, Weld Wheels, Housby, Maxim Chassis, J.D. Welding & Machine, No. 21 sprint car, will join the Outlaws at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska, on Friday, October 14, followed by a visit to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on Saturday, October 15.

Although not qualifying for Port Royal Speedway’s Nittany Showdown finale, Brown did have a few shining moments including a top-ten outcome in Lincoln Speedway’s Brian Montieth Classic on Thursday, October 6. The Higginsville, Missouri, native finished seventh in the $7,000-to-win affair, adding to his recent Pennsylvania stat sheet that also includes top-ten performances in Port Royal’s Tuscarora 50 and Selinsgrove Speedway’s Jim Nace Memorial National Open.

“Blackjack” spent nearly two months in Posse Country; an annual pilgrimage that begins at the end of August.

“Just a tough weekend all around for this Casey’s/FVP team. Had trouble turning a good qualifying lap for whatever reason, which is odd because qualifying is usually a strong suit. It’s tough to dig yourself out of a hole with a poor qualifying effort. We were behind the eight ball all weekend and could never get ourselves out,” Brian Brown expressed. “On the brightside, we really enjoyed our six week visit to Pennsylvania. And we get to follow that up with two of my favorite tracks: I-80 and Lakeside. I’m looking forward to unloading and putting ourselves in the hunt for top-fives each night.”

ON DECK:
Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series stops at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska, on Friday, October 14, and Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, on Saturday, October 15.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 10, 2022) - To no surprise, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing put together a ultra-consistent weekend in Pennsylvania Posse Country, not only highlighting the two-day Nittany Showdown at Port Royal Speedway with back-to-back top-ten outcomes, but securing a top-five result in the process, that occurring in the $15,000-to-win weekend finale on Saturday, October 8.
