Bryant Marsh Tops North Alabama Speedway Action

Corinth, Mississippi (09/06/17)
– 17-year-old Bryant Marsh took his Modern Woodmen #1 Trak-Star Late Model to Victory Lane on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway.

“This new Trak-Star Race Car has been really good since we got it back a few months ago, and it feels great to finally put it in Victory Lane,” Marsh said. “It made it really special to have my whole family there with me to enjoy the win.”

On Saturday night Bryant Marsh traveled to North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) for a pair of NeSmith Crate Late Model sanctioned features.

Bringing home his first win of the season in the first A-Main, Marsh topped Todd Robinson, Marcus Minga, Dustin Harris, and Joe Mike at the finish line to pick up the $1,000 paycheck.

In the second A-Main, Bryant landed a 4th-place finish, trailing Todd Robinson, Dustin Harris, and Marcus Minga across the finish line with Cruz Skinner coming in 5th.

The following night took Bryant to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi), competing in a field of 24 NeSmith Crate Late Models in the final round of the Highway 45 Crate Late Model Throw Down series. Posting the 3rd-fastest time in qualifying, Marsh earned the 3rd-starting position for the main event. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Bryant Marsh posted a 6th-place outing in the 25-lap affair.

After the race was completed, Marsh was awarded a $1,000 payday for winning the Highway 45 Crate Late Model Throw Down points title.

The team will remain idle this weekend before returning to action on Saturday, September 16 at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) in a NeSmith Weekly Crate Late Model event.

Jason Hughes Conquers Cresco; Pads Point Lead

Westville, Oklahoma (09/06/17) – Not only did Jason Hughes push 2017-win tally to double digits over the weekend in his Henryetta Ford #12 Red Tail Tackle/ Hughes Chassis/ Mullins Racing Engine Modified, but he also extended his advantage atop the championship standings.

“It was another solid weekend for the team, and puts us in a good position as we head into the finale,” Hughes said. “I’m really proud of this team and how hard everybody has been working. Hopefully in a few weeks we can claim our fourth USMTS championship.”

On Wednesday night Jason Hughes kicked off the busy Labor Day weekend at Kossuth County Speedway (Algona, Iowa), returning to action in the USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Gaining one spot in his heat race, Hughes landed a 2nd-place finish behind Cory Mahder, locking him into the 6th-starting positon for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Passing one car in the 35-lapper, Jason posted a 5th-place finish behind Stormy Scott, Ryan Gustin, Dereck Ramirez, and Ricky Thornton Jr.

The following night Hughes was one of 28 cars signed in at Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota) for the 10th annual USMTS Summer Slam. Improving two spots in his heat, Jason streaked to an 8-lap heat race win positioning him 8th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Breaking into a podium spot, Hughes jumped up five positions to place 3rd behind Ryan Gustin and R.C. Whitwell with Tyler Wolff and Stormy Scott completing the Top-5 finishers.

Friday night brought 26 USMTS followers to Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa) for the $4,500 top prize. Losing one spot in his heat, Jason logged a 2nd-place finish behind Zack VanderBeek earning him the 8th-starting position for the feature. On Saturday evening with 45 Open Wheel Modifieds on hand at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for the 12th annual Labor Day Duel presented by Barclay Landscaping, Hughes slipped back to a 7th-place finish in his heat race transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 6 into the feature, Jason passed seven cars in the 15-lap consolation event to place 5th. Rolling off 21st for the feature, Jason Hughes streaked through the field 13 spots registering an 8th-place finish.

Wrapping up the five-day stretch with the USMTS, Hughes visited Cresco Speedway (Cresco, Iowa) on Sunday for the 15th annual Cresco Bowl. Moving up four positions in his heat, Jason landed a runner-up finish behind Dustin Sorensen, locking him into the pole position for the main event. Leading flag-to-flag, Jason Hughes coasted to his 10th win of the season and a $4,500 payday. Stormy Scott, Jake Timm, Zack VanderBeek, and Travis Saurer completed the Top-5 finishers in the 40-lap affair.

With just one point’s event remaining, Hughes only needs to finish 16th or better in the finale at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) on September 21 to clinch his third-straight title and fourth overall.

Rhett Carter Gets Win #11; NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series Action Up Next

Blackshear, Georgia (09/06/17) – Rhett Carter visited Victory Lane in his Continental Tire #44 Jeff’s Heating & Air/ Rocket Chassis XR1 / Wildcat Performance Engines Crate Late Model on Saturday night at Needmore Speedway.

“It was a pretty good weekend for our team,” Carter noted. “We were really good in the Crate Late Model feature at Needmore Speedway. I felt like I probably left a little bit on the table in both Southern Thunder events, but it is what it is. We’ll dig deep and do our best to get the victories next time.”

Saturday night brought Rhett Carter to Needmore Speedway (Needmore, Georgia), competing in two separate divisions for the Labor Day weekend special. After registering the quickest lap in a field of 23 Southern Thunder Late Models, Carter posted a 2nd-place finish in the $3,000-to-win feature, trailing Mark Whitener across the finish line with Scott Johnson, Bo Allen, and John Baker rounding out the Top 5.

In the Crate Late Model ranks, Carter timed in fifth fastest in qualifying, positioning him 5th on the starting grid for the feature. Wheeling his way to the front, Rhett Carter streaked to his 11th win of the season and a $2,000 payday. Ryan Carter, Shan Smith, Colby Boyett, and Grayson Ott completed the Top-5 finishers.

Sunday night found Rhett in action at Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia) returning to action with the Southern Thunder Late Model Series. Laying down the tenth fastest time overall in a field of 40 Super Late Models, Carter earned the 10th-starting spot for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Coming short of a Top-10 finish, Rhett slipped back to a 13th-place outing.
