Parker Martin Prepped for Pair of Pennsylvania WoO Weekend Events
Set to Invade Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (08/17/20) – 16-year-old Parker Martin is set for arguably the most ambitious weekend of his young career this weekend. The Georgian plans to travel north to Pennsylvania’s Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway, where he’ll compete with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series in his Martin’s Industrial No. 6jr PMR Aviation / Race Day Engineering / Longhorn Chassis / Custom Race Engine Super Late Model.

“I feel like in order for me to become a better driver, I need to compete with the best. I know I need as many laps as I can get, anytime that I can get them. Making laps with the best drivers in the sport is a definite added advantage,” Parker said. “Just got to thank my dad for giving me this opportunity as well as my mom, sisters, and girlfriend for their great support.”

Parker has competed in a wide array of Super Late Model and Crate Late Model events thus far into the 2020 campaign. He’s entered eight WoO events thus far this season and while he’s yes to qualify for a feature event with the series, has made gains with each race. Martin hopes to continue to continue his learning this weekend at a pair of famed, Pennsylvania ovals.

Action opens on Thursday, August 20 at Abbottstown’s Lincoln Speedway. The Billy Vacek / Huey Wilcoxon Memorial presented by Viper Motorsports posts a $12,000 top prize. Then on Friday, August 21 Martin will make his debut at the historic Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Maryland) in a $10,000-to-win affair.

“We’ve got a big challenge in front of us this weekend, but I couldn’t be more excited,” Martin continued. “I want to say a special thanks to my crew chief, Cole Exum and team engineer, Neal Lewis for continuing to bust their tails and believe in me. I’ve been off my game this past month, but I think we are turning the corner, and I hope to show it this weekend.”

Hagar Charges Through Field to Post Seventh-Place Result at I-30 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Aug. 17, 2020) - Derek Hagar was on pace to contend for a victory at I-30 Speedway last Saturday.

Unfortunately, contact stymied his run for a second straight triumph at the bullring during an ASCS Sprint Week presented by Smiley's Racing Products event.

"We definitely had a winning car, but due to the circumstances we had to go to the back," he said. "We drove through there and got a seventh-place finish, but we had a car capable of winning."

Hagar led the first few laps of the feature before another driver made contact entering turn three. The duo slid up the track, but both drivers kept going as the caution flag was waved.

"Once he hit me in the left rear and turned me he didn't let off the gas," Hagar said. "That's what upset me the most. He was beating the rear bumper off the car before that. He got underneath me one time and as the caution came out he wheel banged me. We both got sent to the back and had to put on a bigger show."

Hagar restarted at the rear of the field and hustled his way to a seventh-place finish. It marked his eighth top 10 in 10 starts this season.

It was an efficient night for Hagar, who qualified 20th quickest overall and third in his group. He placed second in a heat race and won a dash to garner the outside front row starting position for the main event.

"We had a car that could have won the race so those are the frustrating ones that you feel got away," he said.

Hagar is planning on competing with the USCS Series this Friday at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn., and Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. He has a sprint car win at Lexington 104 Speedway and a midget victory at Riverside International Speedway this season.

Carney II Claims ASCS Sprint Week Race at Caney Valley and Places Fifth in Event Standings

Inside Line Promotions - NASHVILLE, Ark. (Aug. 17, 2020) - The ASCS Sprint Week presented by Smiley's Racing Products was a success for John Carney II, who won a race and finished fifth in the championship standings out of the 90-plus drivers who raced during the six-day, six-race spectacle.

The SawBlade.com Xiphos saw blade and Danny Sander Construction sponsored driver kicked off the competition last Tuesday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., where he charged from 19th to 12th in the A Main. It was the second-most positions gained in the feature.

Carney II used that momentum to capture his first ASCS triumph of the season on Wednesday at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan. He won a heat race, a dash and the main event.

"The track started off so dry," he said. "I knew being at the front of the field was critical. Winning the heat was good and winning the dash was the ultimate. I knew I needed to get into turn one leading it and then I could control the tempo of the race in the feature. We did that and then it was about staying out of trouble with lapped cars and keeping my tires under myself.

"There were over 90 teams that competed in the ASCS Sprint Week. To outrun everyone on one night was good. It helps with the confidence for the whole team. Everyone who supports the team wants to see us win so it was great."

Carney II maneuvered from 17th to seventh the ensuing night at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., where he garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

A 14th-place outing on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., and a charge from 20th to 13th on Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., set the stage for Sunday's event finale at Diamond Park Speedway.

"On the third attempt to start the race I got hit by someone and they ran me up the wall," he said. "I was back to 11th and we had to climb our way back up with no cautions and no passing. We finished sixth.

"A similar thing happened in a heat race at 81 Speedway. We had an awesome car and if we could have been in a dash I think we could have won, but someone drove through us in the heat race. It was good to come out with a top 10, but those are the nights that get in your mind where you think you could have won."

Carney II was satisfied with surviving the grueling week with his car in one piece and several stout performances.

"We had a pretty good game plan," he said. "After each race we washed up, serviced the car and then drove to the track the next day. We stuck to a schedule so to speak every day. It made the most sense. It was in the 90s all week, but the heat index was over 100 every day. We didn't want to combat the heat six days in a row."

Carney II plans on racing this Thursday through Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., during the Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals.

Dates: Thursday through Saturday, August 13th-15th
Event: The One & Only - Capitani Classic
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finishes (Start):
Thursday: 15th (22nd)
Friday: 4th (2nd)
Saturday: 9th (7th)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (August 17, 2020) - Rico Abreu’s three-day visit to the Sprint Car Capital of the World ended nothing short of impressive, not only capping the One & Only/Capitani Classic weekend with a top-ten performance during the $50,000-to-win finale, but kicking-off the summer blockbuster with a 15th-place result during Thursday’s preliminary, followed by a top-five outcome during Friday’s preliminary.

Abreu qualified for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win headliner with a victory during his respective feature qualifier. Lining up seventh on the A-Main grid, Abreu drove on to finish ninth, his 24th top-ten finish of the 2020 season.

“It was a fun weekend for our team. Obviously, our goal is to battle our way to the front and contend for a win, no matter where we race, but to put up numbers like that, against that level of competition, says so much about our team. Knoxville is a special place and we can’t wait to get back,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Priority Aviation/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/Salty’s BBQ/Whistle Stop Bar & Grill/Wiser Golf/Stadelhofer Construction/No. 24 sprint car. “It was great to see everyone and connect with all of my fans. That’s just as rewarding as racing up front. I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our team all weekend, especially during these crazy times. We couldn’t do what we do without the loving support from our fans and, of course, our partners.”

Abreu ignited his weekend at Knoxville Raceway with a 15th-place finish during preliminary main event competition on Thursday. The St. Helena, California-native then one-upped his Thursday night performance with a near-perfect campaign on Friday, first finishing third from sixth during heat race competition, followed by a runner-up result in the evening’s dash. Abreu went on to finish fourth during the evening’s main event, forced to battle wheel to wheel with the nation’s leading winner, Kyle Larson.

Donny Schatz charges through alphabet during Knoxville’s Capitani Classic

Dates: Thursday through Saturday, August 13th-15th
Event: The One & Only - Capitani Classic
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
Thursday: 22nd (8th)
Friday: 11th (25th)
Saturday: 12th (24th)

2020 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: 4210 points | Third (62-points behind championship leader, Logan Schuchart)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 17, 2020) - Despite a three-day weekend that kicked-off with a rare ‘DNF’ score on Thursday, August 13, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz preserved in true championship form and rallied for a pair of hard charging performances against the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, capping the One and Only/Capitani Classic weekend at Knoxville Raceway with a 12th-place performance during the $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday night.

Forced to start 24th on Saturday’s Capitani Classic grid, Schatz wasted little time and moved forward in a hurry, eventually gaining 12 spots in 30 circuits. Impressive enough, the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion had to earn his A-Main starting position the hard way, battling his way through the evening’s C-Main and Last Chance Showdown after missing a transfer position in his respective feature qualifier. Schatz drove from 17th to win the C-Main before rebounding from 18th to finish fourth during the Last Chance Showdown. Mechanical misfortune during his respective qualifier led to his C-Main start.

Adding to his weekend’s stat sheet, Schatz’ Friday night A-Main performance also included an impressive charge to the front, this time bouncing ahead from 25th to 11th after utilizing a World of Outlaws provisional.

Thursday’s ‘DNF’ was the result of an incident involving four other competitors. The team ultimately made repairs allowing Schatz to return to the speedway, but additional problems previously undiscovered forced Schatz to retire.

Schatz and the Greatest Show On Dirt will invade River Cities Speedway on Friday and Red River Valley Speedway on Saturday.

Schatz picked up the victory at River Cities Speedway on August 17, 2019, climbing ahead from the outside of row three.
