Howard Moore Embarks on First-Ever Chili Bowl
Qualifying Night Scheduled for Friday

Memphis, Tennessee (01/18/19) – Howard Moore will enter unchartered territory on Friday evening. The personable, 22-year-old from Memphis will enter his first-ever Lucas Oil Chili Bowl at Tulsa Expo Center.

“I’m both excited and a little bit anxious with this being my first Chili Bowl and just my fourth Midget start,” Moore said.

Even though Moore only has four Midget starts to his credit, he’s shown steady improvement in his early endeavors in the division.

“My first start I got buried in the C-Main, my second outing I missed the feature by one spot, and the third time (back in December at the Junior Knepper Memorial) I qualified for the feature,” Moore recounted. “There’s going to be over 300 drivers all with the same goal I have this weekend in Tulsa. Hopefully, we’ll have some luck on our side and can have a solid showing.”

On Friday night, Moore will go into battle with a field of roughly 70 competitors on his qualifying night for the 33rd annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl presented by General Tire. The top two finishers from the evening’s preliminary feature will lock into Saturday’s coveted, $10,000-to-win finale. The balance of the 300-plus competitors will be seeded into a series of alphabet races on Saturday.

“This is a dream come true to get to run this event,” Moore noted. “I want to thank Mr. Chris Chappue from Cabot, Arkansas for asking me to run this car and putting his trust in me. Chris loves racing as much as I do, and he spends countless hours working on his cars. Every time that we race together, we have fun, and I know this will be a memorable weekend in Tulsa. It’s nice to have Mr. Mike Ward going with me to help wrench on the car. He’s made a huge difference in my racing programs since he started helping our team, and I’m very thankful to have his support.

“I also want to say a special thanks to Bullit Chassis, Gaerte Engines, Bales Oil Company, Stealth Recovery, CIMCO Incorporated General Contractors, Coozy Coaster Company, Engler Machine and Tool, and Senter Farms for making this possible.”
