CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Racing officials announced a “Daily Double” today with the addition of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, and Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN will sign on for NeSmith Late Models and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division in 2018.
Both tracks are owned by Bob Harris and they will both operate on Saturday nights. Ricky Spurgeon will promote Duck River Raceway Park and Harris will promote Winchester Raceway Park. The NeSmith Late Models will join the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division at Duck River Raceway Park.
“We went to the Crate Late Model competitors and asked them if they wanted to be NeSmith sanctioned, and they replied with an overwhelming yes,” Spurgeon said. “Being sanctioned by NeSmith Racing in both Late Models and Street Stocks is going to be a good thing for both Duck River Raceway Park and Winchester Raceway Park. NeSmith is well-known for its technical integrity and the great publicity the drivers get. If the drivers are happy, I’m happy.”
NeSmith Late Model and NeSmith Performance Street Stock competitors will compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund in their respective Divisions during a 27-week season that begins on March 26 and runs through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National point total.
They will compete on the National level against drivers at NeSmith Racing sanctioned tracks in eight different states. The 2018 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion will earn $10,000.
The Top 10 drivers in the National point standings will be honored and recognized at the NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series Annual Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum located at the Birthplace of American Stock Car Racing, Dawsonville, GA.
