NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 2017 Week 2 Round Up

Cartersville, GA - The NeSmith Weekly Racing Series season has now seen two weeks of racing action and things will begin to heat up with more tracks getting their seasons started. With more races and racers making their starts, we will start to see who is going to be early contenders for the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series Championship.

Headlines from Week 2:

  • Two drivers picked up back-to-back wins during Week 2 competition - Chase Washington grabbed the Friday and Saturday night Feature wins at Magnolia Motor Speedway during their Golden Egg Classic event, and 2015 and 2016 NeSmith Weekly Racing Series National Champion Michael Arnold started 2017 with wins at Hattiesburg Speedway on Friday and LA 36 Speedway on Saturday night.
  • Caleb Gay grabbed the win at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA.
  • ECM Speedway's season opener win went to Billy Flannagan Jr. on Saturday night.
  • Kevin Maher was victorious in the Panhandle Challenge Series/NeSmith Weekly Racing opener at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.
  • Future baseball great (and LA Tech Bulldog) and NeSmith Late Model Driver Josh Banes put his #4J machine in victory lane at Jackson Motor Speedway.
  • Talladega Short Track's Season Opener feature win went to Adam Gauldin on Saturday night, and racing legend Red Farmer picked up a preliminary heat race win to get his 70th racing season underway in winning fashion at "The Hornet's Nest".

Cartersville, GA -  NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competitors now have two weeks of racing action in the books and the action will continue to heat up as spring and summer get into full force and more tracks and competitors get their seasons started.  

 

Headlines from Week 2:

  • Texan Rob Slott grabbed his second win of the season with a visit to Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX for their first NeSmith Street Stock Division race of the season.
  • Jason Jackson got his season off to a great start with a Friday night win at Hattiesburg Speedway.
  • Flomaton Speedway's season opener win went to Justin Abel in his #10 machine.
  • Jacob Stephens visited victory lane at ECM Speedway in Bremen, AL for his first win of the 2017 season.
  • Talladega Short Track saw a familiar face in victory lane as Steve Pate parked his #07 machine there for the regular season opener on Saturday night.
  • Needmore Speedway's Feature event win was nabbed by Ronnie Lee Newsome and his #38 machine.
  • Michael Kirby was the big winner on a special Sunday night event at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN.
  • 2017 Ice Bowl NeSmith Street Stock Champion Trevor Woodard continues to have a great 2017 as he picked up the win at his home track Thunderhill Raceway Park to get his regular season off to a great start.
  • Michael Sojourner grabbed the win at Saturday night's points opener at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, MS.
  • LA 36 Speedway's Saturday night feature win went home with Michael Santangelo and his #77 machine.
