GREENVILLE SPEEDWAY RUMBLE ON THE GUMBO RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 8-9

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The “Rumble On The Gumbo” Nationals for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS has been rescheduled for June 8-9. The June 8 show will be a $2,000-to-win 40-lap race, and the June 9 race will pay $2,500-to-win, and go for 50 laps.

You may have noticed that the name of our title sponsor since 2008 “NeSmith” is no longer a part of the branding of our National Touring Division. This is because Kyle Durrence has purchased NeSmith Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Claxton, GA, and has renamed the dealership Durrence Layne Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Claxton, GA.

Mr. Durrence wants everyone involved with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to know that it is his intention to keep the racing end of things going at the dealership and to continue to provide the competitors with great service and free next day delivery of Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines and parts anywhere in the Southeast.

The new owner of the dealership is new to our sport. Mr. Durrence has been to a few of our races this season and he loves it. If he comes up and introduces himself to you, please make him feel welcome and thank him for carrying on a dirt track racing tradition since 2005.

The Greenville Speedway “Rumble On The Gumbo” National races are scheduled to be Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour. To date, four races have been run with three different winners.

Two-time and defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Champion Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN won the season opener on April 20 at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, and Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS won the second round on April 21 at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.

Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL hosted Rounds 3 and 4 on NASCAR Weekend, with Hedgecock taking his second win of the season on April 27, and three-time Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN taking the victory on April 28.

Hedgecock is the current point leader in quest of his third straight Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Championship.  Hedgecock has a 34-point lead over Ashton Winger of Senoia, GA, who also leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings.
