DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 10 PREVIEW

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – After reaching the one-third mark of the 2018 season, the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series will feature 17 events in eight different states for Week 10 action in the 27-week season. Week 10 will have one race tonight, four events on Friday night, 11 races on tap for Saturday night, and one event on Sunday night.

              There will be 14 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races, 12 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division races, six Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division races, and three Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races in Week 10 action.

              Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL opens Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 10 competition tonight with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division in action.

              Friday night Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action has Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS hosting the Late Models and the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division. Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS presents the Late Models, Street Stocks, and the Late Model Sportsman on Friday night. 

            Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL has the Late Models, Street Stocks, and Late Model Sportsmen in Friday night Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action, and Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA hosts the Late Models.
           
            Three tracks will present shows that feature all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions this Saturday night. Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Talladega Short Track will each host the Late Models, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsmen, and Modified Sportsmen.
           
            Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will present the Late Models, the Street Stocks and the Late Model Sportsmen on Saturday night.  Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and
Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN will each host the Late Models and the Street Stocks on Saturday night.
           
            Two Saturday night races on the Great Plains will feature the Late Models with races at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS that is co-sanctioned with NCRA and at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE.
           
            Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will co-sanction a $1,000-to-win Street Stock race with the Mississippi Street Stock Series on Saturday night. Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA and Southern Raceway in Milton, FL will also host Street Stock races on Saturday night.
           
            The lone Sunday night race will feature the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division at Dawson County Speedway in Lexington, NE to close out Week 10 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition.
           
            In the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National point standings at the one-third mark of the 27-week season as Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS holding a ten point lead in Late Models over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS 440 to 430 points. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third with 414 points, Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is fourth with 393 points, and the 2012 National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is fifth with 385 points.
           
            Lee Ray of Columbus, MS leads the Street Stock National standings with 431 points, and Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is four points back in second with 427 points. Rick Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is third with 398 points, Steve Maughan is fourth with 387 points, and Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fifth with 382 points.
           
            Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS is the point leader in the Late Model Stock Division with 407 points, followed by Brandon Crosby in second with 389 points, Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL in third with 366 points, Aaron Fitzhugh is fourth with 335 points, and Blake Ray is fifth with 331 points.
           
            Justin Angle of Anniston, AL leads the Modified Sportsman Division standings with 273 points. Andy Davis is just one point behind in second with 272 points. Chris Yarbrough is third with 234 points, Ron Bailey is fourth with 230 points, and Oakley Gillespie rounds out the top five with 187 points.
           
              Drivers in the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund during a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National points total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Divisions will be honored at the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

              The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division race cars are powered by either the 400 horsepower aluminum-head, steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the 350 horsepower steel-head, steel-block Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. 

            The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is the engine of choice in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine is the required engine in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division.
