DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 12 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 12 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition saw lead changes in two of the four Divisions, as we get closer to the 14-week in the 27-week season where drivers will begin taking their best 14 weekly point totals as their season totals. In the meantime, the Weekly Point Averages (WPAs) will work as a gauge as to what that might look like at season’s end.

The complete results of all of the Week 12 races at all of the sanctioned tracks in all of the Divisions are listed below, and the complete National point standings for each Division can be found at www.durrencelayneracing.com

In our Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 12 Round Up, we will look at the Top Five in each Division and the Top 10 on the WPA lists in each Division. The Top 10 in the final point standings get a point fund check and a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet in Dawsonville, GA.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is in a good spot, as not only is he still the point leader in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division with 580 points, but he also has the highest WPA among the Top 20 in the point standings with a 49 out of a possible 50. Scarbrough has a 19-point lead over Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS, who is ninth on the WPA list at 46.64.

Scarbrough and Russell have both competed in all 12 weeks of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action held thus far. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the National standings with 523 points. Lee has raced in 11 weeks of competition and is sixth on the WPA list at 47.55. Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is fourth with 516 points and Alan Banks of Gordo, AL is fifth with 495 points. Both Dees and Banks have competed in all 12 weeks of WRS racing.

To find second and third on the WPA list, one has to look to the Great Plains and down to 17th and 18th in the National point standings. Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS has the second highest WPA at 48.87, and the defending Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE is third with a WPA of 48.43. Smith and Leonard have both raced in eight weeks of WRS competition.

The 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Late Model Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is ninth in the National point standings after ten weeks of racing and fourth on the WPA list at 48. Six of the Top 10 on the WPA are outside the Top 10 of the National point standings.

Cory Dumpert is 19th in the National Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National points chase with eight weeks of racing and is fifth on the WPA list at 47.86. Dusty Leonard of Marysville, KS is 20th in National points with eight weeks of competition and seventh on the WPA list at 47.25.

Seth McCormick of Muscle Shoals, AL is 12th in National points having raced for nine weeks, and is eighth on the WPA list at 46.87. Daniel Smith of Beloit, KS is 21st in National points after eight weeks of racing, and has the tenth highest WPA at 46.62.

Steve Maughan is the new Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division point leader after Week 12 competition. Maughan has 530 points and is the only driver to have raced in all 12 weeks of competition. Even though Maughan leads the National point standings, his WPA of 44.17 is not good enough to make the Top 10 list.

Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock National points, ten points behind Maughan. Ray has run 11 weeks of competition and is fifth on the WPA list at 47.27. Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is third in the National standings with 512 points after 11 weeks of racing, and is seventh on the WPA list at 46.54.

Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is fourth in the National standings with 507 points and has competed in 11 weeks of racing. Winkles is tenth on the WPA list at 46.09. Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is fifth in the National standings with 498 points and he has raced in ten weeks of Durrence Layne Street Stock competition.

Idom leads the Street Stock WPA list at 49.80. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is sixth in the National points after ten weeks of racing and is second on the WPA list at 47.90. Trevor Woodard of Mt. Pleasant, TN is 20th in National points after racing for seven of the 12 weeks, and ranks third on the WPA list at 47.71.

Mike Lane of Pace, FL is 14th in National points with eight weeks of racing, and is fourth on the WPA list at 47.38. Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS is seventh in National points after ten weeks of racing and is sixth on the WPA list at 46.80. Jimmy Nolen of Huron, TN is 15th in the National standings after eight weeks of competition and is eighth on the WPA list at 46.37. David Williamson is eighth in National points after ten weeks of racing and is ninth on the WPA list at 46.30.

Brandon Crosby is the new Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman National point leader with 532 points and is the only driver to have competed in all 12 weeks of racing. Crosby just missed the cut for the Top 10 on the Late Model Sportsman WPA list. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second in National points after 11 weeks of racing with 508 points and he is fifth on the WPA list at 46.18.

Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS is third in the National standings with 494 points after 11 weeks of competition, and is tenth on the WPA list at 44.91. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth in the National standings with 480 points after ten weeks of competition, and is second on the WPA list at 48. Heather Lowe of Warrior, AL is fifth in the National standings with 442 points after ten weeks of racing.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS is at the bottom of the Top 20 in the National points with seven weeks of racing, but he is at the top of the WPA List at 49.14. Todd Clemmons is 12th in the National points with eight weeks of competition, and is third on the WPA list at 47.5. Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL is seventh in National points after nine weeks of racing and is fourth on the WPA list at 46.78,

Chace Pennington of Steens, MS is ninth in National points after nine weeks of racing and is sixth on the WPA list at 46.11. Tony Shelton of Steens, MS and Randy Alexander are tied for the 14th spot in National points and tied for the seventh spot on the WPA list at 45.87. Both Shelton and Alexander have eight weeks of racing. Michael Blakeney of Oxford, AL is 16th in National points after eight weeks of racing and is ninth on the WPA list at 45.25.

Andy Davis is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman National point leader with 389 points. Davis is the only drive to have competed in ten weeks of competition and has the third highest WPA at 38.9. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is second in the National standings after nine weeks of racing with 352 points and is on top of the WPA list at 39.11.

Chris Yarbrough is third in the National standings with 351 points after nine weeks of competition and is second on the WPA list at 39. Ron Bailey is fourth in the National Modified Sportsman standings with 345 points after nine weeks of racing and is fifth on the WPA list at 38.33. Oakley Gillespie is fifth in the National standings with 307 points after eight weeks of racing and is fourth on the WPA list at 38.37.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division is the newest of the four Weekly Racing Series Divisions, and continues to grow. One of the three tracks to not only run the Modified Sportsman, but all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL will run Double Features for all Divisions this Saturday night.
