CRATE RACIN' USA/NeSMITH RACING LAUNCHES WEEKLY RACING SERIES MODIFIED SPORTSMAN DIVISION

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Crate Racin' USA/NeSmith Racing announced today at the Performance Racing Industry Show the formation of the Weekly Racing Series Modified Sportsman Division to add to its family of economical racing divisions designed for weekly racers.  The Division will feature a weekly and National point system just like three other NeSmith Racing Divisions.

The Modified Sportsman Division will feature an economical engine option similar to its sister series, the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division and the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division.

An engine option for the Modified Sportsman Division will be the economical steel-block, steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine that is $3,595 at NeSmith Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Claxton, GA with free next-day delivery.  The Modified Sportsman Division race cars will be shod with H500 Hoosier Racing Tires.

The Modified Sportsman Division joins the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for Late Models powered by the steel-block, steel-head 400 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division with a 602 option, and the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division that are 602 powered Late Models.

The Chevrolet Performance 604 and 602 Circle Track Engines are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.  NeSmith Racing also sends its Technical Personnel to visit tracks unannounced on random race nights throughout the season to spot check the engines and their seals, as well as the rest of the race car.

"We've received a lot of interest in the Modified Sportsman Division as the newest Weekly Racing Series Division designed to make racing affordable to everyone," Crate Racin' USA/NeSmith Racing CEO and Founder Mike Vaughn said.  "We started the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series in 2006, and it will start its 13th season in 2018.  We started the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division in 2013, and the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division last year.  Our sanctioned tracks have embraced these divisions throughout the years, and they have proven to have been successful for them.  We anticipate the Modified Sportsman Division to provide the same results."

The first NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series sanctioned track to sign up for the Modified Sportsman Division sanction was Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.  TST has been a part of the NeSmith Racing family of weekly tracks since 2006.  Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS and Camden Speedway in Camden, TN are also onboard with the Modified Sportsman Division for Weekly Racing Series action in 2018.

Other NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks looking at the Modified Sportsman Division for 2018 include Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS and LA 36 Speedway in Lacombe, LA.

The NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series season for the Modified Sportsman Division, the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models, the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the NeSmith Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division is a 27-week season that runs from the end of March through the end of September.  Drivers will earn weekly points and national points.

A driver can run as many races as they wish each week, but only their best single point total for that week will count for their national points.  A driver's best 14 weekly point totals will count as their season total.  Once a driver reaches the 14 week mark of their season, they will begin netting points by replacing their lowest weekly point total with a higher one.

The Top Ten drivers in each NeSmith Racing Weekly Racing Series Division will received an invitation to be honored at the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet held each year at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in the Birthplace of Stock Car Racing, Dawsonville, GA.
