NEWSOME RACEWAY PARTS WEEKLY RACING SERIES MODIFIED SPORTSMAN WEEK 8 ROUND UP ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Five events took place during Week 8 action for the Newsome Raceway Parts Modified Sportsman Division of Crate Racin’ USA. Scottie Hiett kept the strangle hold on the top spot with another win at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. 2019 National Champion Luke Riddle brought his 28-machine home fourth at North Alabama Speedway during Saturday night action to slide solidly in at second. Seth Johnston now holds down third in National Points following a strong second place finish at North Alabama, followed by fifth finishing Ron Bailey who sits fourth in points. Rounding out the top 5 in National Points is Jammie Gowers who finished sixth at Talladega Short Track. Sixth, seventh and eighth in the standings are Talladega Short Track regulars Paul Poe, Blake Swann, Josh Salisbury, respectively. Tracy Terrell picked up his first win of the 2020 season at North Alabama Speedway to put himself at ninth in the standings after eight weeks of competition. Tim Staples was back in action during Week 8 to fall in at tenth in the current point standings. Other Week 8 news includes: Ryan Sawyers who picked up his first win of 2020 at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN; Bradley Qualls was victorious during the 2nd Annual Back The Blue event at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN; and Jordan Phillips visited Victory Lane for the first time in 2020 in Saturday night action at ECM Speedway in Breman, AL. Drivers in the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Modified Sportsman Division will compete for both a weekly/track point fund and a National point fund over a 22 Week season that runs through November 1. A driver will count his best 11 weekly point races for their National point total.
