Brandon Overton Sweeps Through North/South 100 Mega Weekend
Pockets $50,000 in North/South 100; Adds $10,000 Triumph in North/South Shootout

EVANS, Ga. (08/16/21) – Brandon Overton triumphantly swept through another crown jewel weekend. His latest conquest came during the 39th annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 weekend at Florence (Ky.) Speedway.

He began things with a $10,000 Sunoco North/South Shootout win on Thursday night and added a $50,000 triumph in the Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 finale on Saturday night.

With the victories Overton’s win total for 2021 increased to 21 in his Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model.

Winning the most prestigious Dirt Late Model race in his car owner David Wells’s home state of Kentucky gave his performance some extra juice.

“I know this place means a lot to ‘em,” Overton said of his boss and Wells’ son Eric, who decided together to hire Overton in late 2019. “I’ve been a nervous wreck all day because I really wanted this one really bad. I know it’s special to them. It makes me happy to make them happy.

“I’ll tell you what, that thing was awesome. About anybody could’ve drove it tonight. We’ve been working really hard on it and it definitely paid off.”

Wells Motorsports and Brandon Overton ventured to Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Thursday afternoon to chase the $10,000 top prize in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned, Sunoco North-South Shootout.

After topping the 46-car field in time trials to claim the $2,043 Allstar Performance fast time honors, Overton dashed to an eight-lap heat race victory. With polesitter Ricky Thornton Jr. setting the pace early in the feature, Brandon faded in the opening laps but began his pursuit for Thornton after disposing of Tim McCreadie for second following a lap-12 restart.

Sliding ahead of Thornton Jr. two circuits later, Overton ran away with his 20th victory of the season and ninth career series triumph. He took the checkers ahead of Thornton Jr., Tim McCreadie, Jimmy Owens, and Jonathan Davenport to pocket $10,000.

With a pair of heat races on Friday afternoon highlighting preliminary action for the 39th annual North/South 100, Brandon finished second in his first round heat race before picking up a 12-lap heat race victory in the second round after sitting through a lengthy rain delay.

Earning the third-starting position for the Sunoco North/South 100 on Saturday evening, Overton whizzed past early pacesetter Tim McCreadie on the 22nd circuit and paced the field for the remainder of the 100-lapper to secure his 21st win of the 2021 campaign and a $50,000 prize. His 10th career LOLMDS triumph came ahead of McCreadie, Jonathan Davenport, Jimmy Owens, and Josh Rice.

Overton now has his sights set on another crown jewel victory this coming weekend as he treks west to Mooney Starr’s Batesville (Ark.) Motor Speedway for the 29th annual COMP Cams Topless 100. The weekend opens with a pair of $5,000-to-win programs on Thursday and Friday with a $40,000-to-win finale slated for Saturday.

The weekend is co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series.

Brandon Sheppard Wins Wild Highland Hell Tour Event
Back to World of Outlaws Action this Week

NEW BERLIN, Ill. (08/16/21) – Brandon Sheppard overcame early adversity on Friday night at Highland Speedway to take his family-owned Dennis G. Woodworth Attorney at Law No. B5 Valvoline / TrueTimber / The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development / Pro Power Racing Engines / Rocket Chassis Super Late Model to Victory Lane with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals.

Sheppard’s 10th win of the season was worth $10,000.

"Our car was just phenomenal," said Sheppard, who drove his family-owned ride to his third series victory of 2021 on Friday night at Highland Speedway and 27th of his career. "This B5 car just digs at these short tracks. And this is a little bit of rough, kind of race all over this place, and it was a helluva racetrack, especially for as much rain as they had.

“Man, we got tore up really bad on (the second) lap, I don't know. (Outside front-row starter Blaze Burwell) looped it in front of me there and I slowed down and got hit from behind there," Sheppard said. "I thought we were done. I thought for sure the left-rear tire was flat because (Michael) Kloos got up on my tire there. I figured it was going to get cut down. I'm glad we kept our nose clean, for the most part, after that first lap, and we were able to get up through there and get the win.”

Behind the wheel of his family-owned No. B5 Late Model, Brandon Sheppard invaded Highland Speedway (Highland, Ill.) on Friday night to take part in a $10,000-to-win DIRTcar Summer Nationals event.

Drawing 29 cars for the rescheduled Hell Tour event from July 10, Sheppard clocked in fifth fastest in his group before placing second in his heat, which came behind Bobby Pierce. Rolling off fifth for the feature, Brandon was collected in a chain reaction tangle on the second lap but battled back to challenge race-long pacesetter Bobby Pierce late in the race. After a caution flag negated his pass on the 14th circuit, Sheppard slid ahead of Pierce on lap 37 and led the closing laps to capture his 10th win of the season and a $10,000 prize.

He took the checkers ahead of Pierce, Tanner English, Garrett Alberson, and Ashton Winger to record his 27th DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory.

On Saturday afternoon at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Brandon followed up the third-fastest time in his group with a 10-lap heat race win. Clawing forward one spot in the 40-lap feature, Sheppard notched a runner-up finish. He followed Bobby Pierce across the line with Ashton Winger, Shannon Babb, and Gordy Gundaker rounding out the Top-5.

For complete results from these events, please visit www.DIRTcarSummerNationals.com.

Brandon returns to the driver’s seat of the Rocket1 Racing Super Late Model this week for a quartet of $10,000-to-win World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series events on August 19-22.

On Thursday, August 19 action opens at Orange County Fair Speedway (Middletown N.Y.) before moving to Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) on Friday, August 20. The swing continues on Saturday, August 21 at Sharon (Ohio) Speedway before drawing to a close on Sunday, August 22 at Eriez (Pa.) Speedway.

Brandon continues to lead the World of Outlaws point standings and now holds a 102-marker advantage over his closest pursuer. For complete results from these events, please visit www.WorldofOutlaws.com.
