Dunn Benson Motorsports and Bobby Pierce Rally Late to Win in Pittsburgh, PA

DUNN, NC (October 8, 2018) - The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team and driver Bobby Pierce picked up their 4th WIN of 2018 this past weekend in Pittsburgh, PA winning the "Pittsburgher 100" in dramatic fashion. Bobby started 10th in the 100-lap feature event sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, but pitted during a caution on lap 44 and restarted at the tail of the field. Bobby would drive up through the field passing Jimmy Owens on lap 91 for the lead and pulled away over the final 9 laps to earn $20,000 for the victory.

"It was a perfect time to pit because it gave me a lot of race left to get to the front," stated Pierce. "After I pitted I thought I was a sitting duck because I was running in the back there for a while. Then I started running a top line further than I was before and that helped. When I caught the top two it looked like Sheppard was hanging on and Owens was going to be hard to beat. He is so good in these 100-lap races. Our car was better on longer runs. I didn't know how this race would turn out since this is my first time ever racing here. It is truly a momentum track and it turned out to be a great race. I hope we get to come back here next year," said Pierce.

"I can just see Mr. Lamm (Big C) smiling again and so happy. I wish he would have been here to see this. He loved his Race Team and he loved to win. I can't thank all our sponsors enough that support us this year and make all this come together. I also have to thank my entire family, my Dad, Mom, Cierra, my girlfriend Maddie, and Kemp Lamm for the opportunity to drive for Dunn Benson Motorsports. Also thanks to all my crew, Danny, Kent, Richard and Wayne for all their hard work each week", stated Bobby Pierce.
The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team has 4 wins in 2018 and is in 7th place in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Point Standings with just one race left this year on the tour. The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team and Bobby Pierce will be back in action on October 19-20 for the season finale the Dirt Track World Championship in Portsmouth, OH.

Abreu earns season win number three; California bound

Date: Friday, October 5th
Event: Short Track Championships
Series: MOWA Sprint Car Series
Track: Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Ill.)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (10th)

Date: Saturday, October 6th
Event: #GYATKExtravaganza
Series: All Star Circuit of Champions
Track: Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): Cancelled/Rain

ST. HELENA, Calif. (October 8, 2018) - Rico Abreu’s weekend off did absolutely no harm to the St. Helena, Calif., native, eventually getting back behind the wheel of a sprint car on Friday, October 5, for the Short Track Championships at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway.

The decision to join the MOWA Sprint Car Series proved beneficial, ultimately earning his third victory of the 2018 season, his first under the MOWA banner, by utilizing a late-race restart to drive around three competitors in one corner to take command. The winning move occurred with just five circuits remaining, diamonding off of turn two to do so.

Abreu’s MOWA win joins a list that includes two World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series victories in 2018; the Ironman 55 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 and the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway.

“That was so much fun,” Rico Abreu explained, driver of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Alpinestars/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car. “Anytime you race on a tight, 1/4-mile oval like that, anything can happen. You sometimes have to slow down to be fast and that is exactly what we did. It was a great way to start the weekend. Too bad that was our only start.”

Rico Abreu’s plan to end the recent weekend with All Star Circuit of Champions competition at Kokomo Speedway on Saturday, October 6, was disrupted by Mother Nature. The event was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Up next on the schedule, Rico Abreu will return to California and join the Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT) for the Cotton Classic at Keller Auto Speedway on Saturday, October 13. The 360 sprint car event will join an evening card that also includes King of the West-NARC 410 Series action and the WRS 305 Sprints.

In addition, the ‘Wild Child’ Jac Haudenschild will join the Rico Abreu Racing stable and compete in a second car during the SCCT program at Keller Auto Speedway.

Smoke scores top-five against MOWA in Illinois

Date: Friday, October 5th
Event: Short Track Championships
Series: MOWA Sprint Car Series
Track: Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Ill.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 5th (9th)

Date: Saturday, October 6th
Event: #GYATKExtravaganza
Series: Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1
Track: Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): Cancelled/Rain

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 8, 2018) - Despite losing a battle to Mother Nature on Saturday during his visit to Kokomo Speedway for the 2018 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 finale, Tony Stewart’s recent weekend did feature success.

In fact, Smoke, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car, earned his 25th top-five performance of the year on Friday night during a trip to northern Illinois, joining the MOWA Sprint Car Series for the Short Track Championships on October 5.

Smoke’s top-five performance was the result of a charge from row five, advancing from ninth to finish fifth, officially, on a tight, but racey Jacksonville, 1/4-mile oval. The Columbus, Ind., native used the bottom groove of the speedway to sneak into fifth after a restart with eight laps remaining.

“That was fun. Racing on little ovals like that can be really tricky. We actually almost got caught up in a spin early in the race, but I was able to dive low enough to miss it,” Tony Stewart explained about his visit to Jacksonville Speedway. “Too bad we didn’t get a chance to keep that momentum going on Saturday during our visit to Kokomo. It was a successful All Star season, but I’m sad to see it end like that.”

Tony Stewart’s schedule for the next few weekends remains uncertain. Fans are encouraged to stay alert online via Tony Stewart Racing social media for continuing updates.

Schatz powers to a podium at Fulton Speedway

Dates: Saturday, October 6th
Event: Super DIRT Week
Series: World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series
Track: Fulton Speedway (Fulton, N.Y.)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start): 3rd (4th)

World of Outlaws Championship Standings (as of 10/8/2018): 1st - 8986 points (244-point margin over second place, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 8, 2018) - In conjunction with New York’s annual Super DIRT Week, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz continued his 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series campaign with a one-night stop at Fulton Speedway on Saturday, October 6, officially kicking off a busy October schedule for the Greatest Show On Dirt that includes events in six states across four weekends.

In true championship form, Schatz’s trip to the Empire State was undoubtedly successful, finishing third during main event competition after starting fourth on the grid, ultimately boosting his top-five season total to 46 with the World of Outlaws. The podium run was a third consecutive for Schatz at Fulton Speedway which includes a victory in 2016.

The pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car kicked off the evening program in central New York with a runner-up finish during heat race action.

“It was a good way for this team to kick off the month,” Donny Schatz said, the nine-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion. “The recent weekend was fairly calm compared to what we are up against during the next few weeks. We’ve officially hit the homestretch of our season. This team is still hungry for victories so we’re going to keep working hard and hopefully add a few more to the list.”

Donny Schatz will continue this 2018 championship quest with three starts in three days in three states, first invading the Land of Lincoln on Friday, October 12, followed by stops in the Hoosier State and the Buckeye State on October 13 & 14, respectively. The weekend triple-header will include visits to Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway, Terre Haute (Ind.) Speedway, and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Schatz will enter the weekend with 19 World of Outlaws victories to his credit in 2018, four of which at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, the most recent being the $50,000 Kings Royal in mid-July.
