Brian Brown Excited for World of Outlaws Events in Chico and Stockton

Inside Line Promotions - TULARE, Calif. (March 12, 2019) - One of the great things about motor sports is that a driver doesn't have to wait long for the next opportunity to compete.

Brian Brown will return to action this Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Silver Dollar Shootout presented by Reibes NAPA Auto Parts and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader presents the next two opportunities following a frustrating outing last Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway.

"It was a very tough night in Tulare," he said. "On the first lap in qualifying we went into turns three and four and hit a hole and almost turned over. It stalled the car and then we had to get back going again. On the second lap into turns three and four I took the wrong angle so that really kind of messed up our qualifying. When you do that it really puts you behind the eight ball and then it was misting rain and raining the rest of the night. We could never get back ahead so it was kind of the same story as Vegas. We're looking forward to putting those nights behind us and are ready to get to Chico on Friday."

Friday will mark the first time since 2015 for Brown to compete at Silver Dollar Speedway. He's spent the last few seasons racing at Stockton Dirt Track, where he set quick time during qualifying and won a heat race last year on the heels of a career-best feature finish of fourth in 2017.

"We're really looking forward to Stockton on Saturday," he said. "Obviously it's an FVP sponsored race that's important to us and we've been very good there the last couple of years so hopefully we can get qualified and put ourselves in a position to go for a feature win.

"It's been a real tough few nights for us, but the guys have had a good attitude and have worked very hard to make sure we unload a fast car in Chico and Stockton."

Hagar Fired Up Following Frustrating Midget Outing During Shamrock Classic

Inside Line Promotions - DU QUOIN, Ill. (March 12, 2019) - Derek Hagar isn't afraid to stand his ground, which is the position he feels he has been put into following a frustrating 4th annual Shamrock Classic last Saturday inside the Southern Illinois Center.

"There's a time and place to stand your ground," he said. "We had a couple of incidents with teams thinking they can push us around. They'll have a rude awakening in the future."

Hagar opened the USAC P1 Insurance National Midgets event by quickly maneuvering the midget he co-owns with Jonathan Proctor into third place from his fifth starting position in a heat race.

"We got up to third when a guy thought driving through us would help him keep his seat so he spun us in the heat," he said. "That put us behind for the rest of the night."

A sixth-place result in a heat race relegated Hagar to the rear of a qualifier. He rallied from 10th to sixth, which lined him up on the outside of the third row in a B Main.

"We got to fifth and I was all over the guy for fourth biding my time," he said. "Another driver drove through us coming off turn two and spun us out to ruin our chances of getting in the big show. We're not in that circle so we get treated a little different. It'll all come back around though."

Hagar now shifts his focus to his winged sprint car season debut this Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., with the USCS Series. Hagar has earned at least one podium finish at the track during each of the last six seasons, including wins in 2017, 2014 and 2013.

"We've won some races there so it's been a good track for us," he said. "You have to get up on the fence to run there. I think it fits our style. Hopefully we'll have a solid outing and we'll be able to contend for another win."

Price Shifts Focus to ASCS National Tour as Season Begins This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - TULARE, Calif. (March 12, 2019) - Robbie Price's campaign for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour title begins this weekend in Texas.

Price is slated to kick off the ASCS National Tour season on Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite during the 46th annual ASCS Spring Nationals. It will mark only his second time racing at the half-mile track.

"We're excited to get out there and run the full tour this year," he said. "Our focus is consistency and that begins this weekend with hopefully a pair of solid outings."

Price made his first 360ci winged sprint car start of the season last Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway, where he elected to race in that division during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series show in an effort to dial in his 360 engine.

"We swapped the motors and figured it'd be a good time to shake down the 360 and we'd have a good shot at running in the top five," he said. "We hot lapped good and qualified decent. We were quick in the heat race."

Price qualified 10th quickest and he won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. A sixth-place finish in the dash lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

"We decided to try some stuff in the dash and it didn't work out very well," he said. "We switched it around for the main and we were quick. I got into a groove and we were rolling pretty good. I got a run around the outside of a guy trying to pass for third. I tried to the shoot the gap between him and the wall, but it closed up on me. I should have been complacent and realized it was Lap 5 and not Lap 25."

Price was involved in an early incident that resulted in a DNF.

"On a positive note our 360 ran really good and we raced some good cars so that's a boost of confidence," he said.

Tankersley Guides Old School Racing to Runner-Up Result During Season-Opening Event

Inside Line Promotions - CHATHAM, La. (March 12, 2019) - Channin Tankersley posted a runner-up result last weekend during the opening event of the season for Old School Racing.

The team ventured to Louisiana for a two-day USCS Series event at Chatham Speedway, where Tankersley finished third in a heat race to kick off Friday's action. That lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

"I got up to fifth in the first two laps," he said. "I was running the bottom and most people were up top. Then someone hit me so hard it flipped my visor open."

Tankersley was taken out early in the race. However, he rebounded by rallying from the back of the pack to score a sixth-place finish.

"Any time you have to go to the back and can pass cars and make your way back into the top 10 it's a good result," he said. "We had a good car and could run the top or the bottom. It made it a lot easier that we were able to run all over the place. Most people were pretty dedicated to the top."

That momentum continued on Saturday when he placed fifth in the dash and third in a heat race before starting the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

"We made some changes to the car and it was really drivable," he said. "The track was technical and really tricky. We were primarily rolling the bottom. There were a bunch of people rolling the middle and higher lanes. Right off the get-go we passed two or three cars and just rode there most of the race. We had a caution with about 12 laps to go. I don't know if everyone else was having problems getting going, but we got up to second in like three laps. We kept pace with the leader, which was pretty cool because he's quick everywhere he goes."

Tankersley's runner-up result marked his first podium of the year and his six positions gained on the track equaled the second-most cars passed.

The team is scheduled to tackle the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season-opening doubleheader this Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the 46th annual ASCS Spring Nationals.

Ball Posts Top-Five Finish During Season-Opening Race in Louisiana

Inside Line Promotions - CHATHAM, La. (March 12, 2019) - Jamie Ball and the White Lightning Motorsports team made the most out of a trip to Chatham Speedway last weekend for a two-day USCS Series event, which began with a top-five finish on Friday during the team's season opener.

"It was great to get a night under our belt and shake the rust off," Ball said. "We had a good night overall to start the year being able to get our first top five of the season."

Ball finished where he started - second - in a heat race to begin the action. He then took the green flag from the inside of the fourth row for the feature. Ball picked up a couple of positions to finish fifth.

"We were running in fourth throughout the first 23 laps of the race right behind (Morgan) Turpen, (Tony) Stewart and (Mark) Smith," he said. "With a couple of laps to go, I bicycled the car big time and nearly got upside down and lost one spot to Terry Gray. Overall it was great effort to kick off the 2019 season."

On Saturday, Ball began the night on a high note by scoring his first USCS Series heat race win after starting on the pole. He also ended sixth in the dash.

"They had forecasted major rain all day in Chatham so we got lucky and it actually barely rained at all," he said. "The track was super hard packed and slick as they were prepared for a rain storm. It was a totally different track surface from the previous night, but our heat race went well and we got our first heat race win of the season."

That lined him up on the inside of the third row for Saturday night's feature. Although he lost ground in the feature, Ball was able to log a top-10 finish to round out the weekend.

"The A Main proved to be difficult for me as my biggest struggle is short tracks and slick short tracks," Ball said. "Overall, Chatham Speedway was a fun little joint. The owner, staff and fans were great and excited to see sprint cars. The competitive level of the front runners was a good tune up for us before we embark on our second Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season. We are looking forward to starting with ASCS this weekend at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. It will be nice to get on a big track and see how we can go."

The ASCS National Tour opener is this Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the 46th annual ASCS Spring Nationals.

Hill Starts New Season on ASCS National Tour This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (March 12, 2019) - Alex Hill is eager to kick off her second full season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour this weekend during the 46th annual ASCS Spring Nationals at Devil's Bowl Speedway.

The half-mile oval in Mesquite, Texas, features racing on Friday and Saturday.

"I'm excited to start our season with ASCS at Devil's Bowl," she said. "It's a track that I like and we've had some good experiences there."

Hill will be looking for a positive start to her ASCS season as she strives to improve upon her 13th -place finish in the championship standings during her rookie season last year with the traveling 360ci winged sprint car series.

"Our goal for this year is more consistency and to qualify for more A Mains," she said. "We feel that we should do better overall this year since we've now raced at nearly all of the tracks on the schedule."

Hill was able to knock off some rust while racing a couple of weekends in Florida during February.

"I was pretty happy with our speed in Florida," she said. "We were really fast there. Unfortunately, our results didn't show it as there was a lot of tough competition and most of the breaks didn't go our way, but I feel good going to Devil's Bowl after our racing in Florida."
