Memorial Day Triple for Bellm after Hooker Hood Run

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (May 24, 2018) – The prospects of a lucrative weekend has Kyle Bellm and the family-owned No. 14k Sprint Car team champing at the bit.  And it’s three nights of action close to home with a trio of ASCS Warrior Region events in Missouri this weekend.

The weekend includes a pair of events at Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway on Friday and Saturday before moving on to California’s Double X Speedway on Sunday night.  With a bonus in place, a Lake Ozark sweep would be worth $11,000.

“We had a good start to the season, but the last month has been kinda tough,” the driver of the Greenworks Nursery/Landscapes Awarded No. 14k Sprint Car explained.  “Hopefully we can turn the page this weekend and get back on the right track.”

Bellm will be back aboard the familiar Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care entry this weekend after joining forces with the Wilson Brothers No. 21k entry for last Saturday’s Hooker Hood Classic at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, AR.

“The Wilson Brothers are a good bunch of guys to race for, hopefully we get a chance to do some more races together,” Bellm said after his first outing with the team.

After a fifth-place heat race finish, Bellm ultimately had to make an early exit for feature action with a broken shock.

“The night didn’t go as planned,” Bellm explained.  “It was old-school Riverside, heavy and locked down.  I got bottled up at the start of the heat and lost a position then rode from there.”

Bellm gridded the feature tenth before being credited with a 14th-place finish after making the early exit.

“We ran a few good laps then had a part fail,” Bellm explains.  “I pulled off instead of taking a chance of tearing their stuff up, hopefully we can get together again.”

Bellm looks to get back on track aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision machine after starting the season in strong form with three top-tens in the initial four starts including a pair of top-fives.

“We’ll get our luck changed back around,” an optimistic Bellm says.

There’s no better place than Lake Ozark Speedway, where Bellm and the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions/Schaeffers Racing Oil team picked off four wins last year.

2018 Quick Stats:  9 races, 2 top-fives, 3 top-tens.

Up Next: ASCS Warrior Region at Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, MO) on Friday and Saturday and then Double X Speedway (California, MO) on Sunday.

Reutzel Ready for Four Race Memorial Day Weekend

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (May 24, 2018) –  Aaron Reutzel had his sights set on another possible All Star Circuit of Champions win last weekend only to have Mother Nature intervene.

With Reutzel, the current series points leader, set to start on the front row of Saturday night’s All Star feature aboard the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car at Wisconsin’s Plymouth Dirt Track, the skies opened up and wiped out the feature and continued on to wash out Sunday’s go at Angell Park Speedway as well.

The Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X Sprint Car entry will see plenty of action this weekend with a set of All Star events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Ohio before a World of Outlaws tilt in Indiana on Monday.

This weekend’s slate of All Star Circuit of Champions events for the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment team begins at Attica Raceway Park on Friday before moving on to Wayne County Speedway on Saturday and then Waynesfield Raceway Park on Sunday.  The Memorial Day weekend quadruple wraps up with the World of Outlaws at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Monday.

Reutzel raced to finishes of seventh at Attica and ninth at Wayne County in All Star action last month aboard the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine.  Waynesfield and Lawrenceburg will both be fist-time venues for the Clute, TX, native.

Last Friday’s card at Wisconsin’s Plymouth Dirt Track kicked off with Reutzel setting an overall quick time of 11.571 seconds over a field of 47 entries before earning a Dash position after a fourth-place heat race finish.

“We were really good in qualifying,” Reutzel says.  “We tried some stuff in the heat race knowing that we were locked in the Dash as long as we held on to a transfer position.”

Reutzel went on to win his Dash to secure the front row outside starting position for the feature only to have rain wash out the nightcap.

“We went back to what we had earlier and were really good in the Dash,” Reutzel recalls.  “I would like to see what we could have done in the feature.”

That All Star weekend in Wisconsin simply wasn’t meant to be though.  There will be four more opportunities to add to the win column on a busy Memorial Day holiday weekend.

2018 Quick Stats:  18 races, 2 wins, 7 top-fives, 9 top-tens.

Up Next:

Friday – All Star Circuit of Champions at Attica (OH) Raceway Park.

Saturday – All Star Circuit of Champions at Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, OH).

Sunday – All Star Circuit of Champions at Waynesfield (OH) Raceway Park.

Monday – World of Outlaws Sprint Cars at Lawrenceburg (OH) Speedway.
