Josh Richards Charges to Podium Finish in Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals
39th Annual Jackson 100 Scheduled for this Weekend

St. Marys, Ohio (09/19/18) – Josh Richards passed 18 cars on his way to a third-place finish in Saturday night’s 15th annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals behind the wheel of his Bulk Material Lift #1 Colt/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

"I had a blast out there," Richards said following the crown jewel event. " We had some problems yesterday that got us behind. We could have gotten some more points last night, but thanks to everyone on the Best Performance team for working hard on the car. I think we were a little better than Don [O'Neal] at the end I just couldn't quite squeeze by him. We had a fun race there."

Best Performance Motorsports rolled into Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) on Thursday afternoon for the opening round of the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, where 57 competitors looked to claim the opening night's $7,000 top prize.

Josh turned in a solid performance in qualifying, but with an invert of eight for each race, he started on the fourth row of his heat. With passing being difficult on a fast track, Richards failed to qualify for the feature via his heat race, but a fifth-place finish in his B-Main locked him into the 23rd-starting spot for the 25-lap, preliminary feature.

The feature found Richards passing six cars to finish 17th.

On Friday evening another $7,000-to-win program was held, and Richards again raced his way into the 25-lap preliminary feature via the B-Main. After starting 22nd in the finale at the 1/2-mile oval, Richards retired late with mechanical issues. He was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

Via his performances during the preliminary nights Josh locked into the 21st-starting spot for Saturday night's 100-lap finale. In the main event Richards enjoyed a great run as he streaked through the field to record a third-place finish in the $40,000-to-win affair behind Jimmy Owens and Don O'Neal.
