Kent Robinson Pockets $10,000 Winner’s Check in Farmer City 74
American Ethanol Late Model Tour Doubleheader Up Next

Bloomington, Indiana (05/13/19) – Call it sweet redemption for Kent Robinson. After seeing a Schaeffer’s Oil Mid America Racing Series (MARS) victory earlier this year stripped due to a post-race rules infraction, Kent Robinson proved on Friday night that his series win was no fluke.

The Indiana racer piloted his JB’s Disposal Services #7r MB Customs/ Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $10,000 MARS triumph in the Farmer City 74 at Farmer City Raceway.

“Any time you win is great, but when you’re racing for a cause or there’s a little bit more on your shoulders, it motivates me,” Robinson commented. “It’s what it did tonight and what’s it done since [the April 13 MARS disqualification].

“I try to delegate my time between all my activities, work and whatnot, and I’ve spent a little more time on my race car in the last couple of weeks. I hope it’s showing. We’ve picked up some speed. I can’t take all the credit, we’ve all put our heads together. But it just motivated me, and I think it’s been good.”

Kent Robinson invaded Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois) on Friday night for the Schaeffer’s Oil Mars Racing Series (MARS) sanctioned Farmer City 74. In a stout field of 52 cars, Kent secured his spot into the opening night feature with a heat race victory.

Earning the fourth-starting position for the A-Main, Robinson slipped past race-leader Hudson O’Neal on lap-35. He then battled past fuel line issues to hold off a hard-charging Allen Weisser in the final laps to capture his second win of the season and a $10,000 payday.

Weisser, Darrell Lanigan, Devin Moran, and Dennis Erb Jr. trailed him to the checkers.

Saturday's FALS Frenzy at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, IL) was rained out.

The upcoming weekend has the driver, known as K-Rob, set to enter a pair American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) events. On Saturday night he’ll compete at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana), where a $4,000 winner’s check is on the line. Sunday night takes the team to Gas City I-69 Speedway (Gas City, Indiana), where another $4,000 top prize is up grabs.

Tony Stewart earns GLSS victory at I-96 Speedway; All Star triple next

Date: Friday, May 10th
Event: Veterans Night

Track: I-96 Speedway (Lake Odessa, Mich.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (6th)

Date: Saturday, May 11th
Event: FAST Series at Sharon Speedway
Series: FAST Series
Track: Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 2nd (6th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 13, 2019) - The recent weekend was nearly flawless for Columbus, Indiana’s Tony Stewart, as the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion attained back-to-back podium finishes during sprint car competition, one of which a win during 360c.i. action in southern Michigan.

The victory, occurring during Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) competition at I-96 Speedway on Friday, May 10, was the product of a third row starting position. Wasting little time, ‘Smoke’ maneuvered his way to the front, eventually taking command with only 14 laps checked off the counter. The eventual triumph was Stewart’s fourth of the season, now earning victories against three different sanctioning bodies including GLSS, United Sprint Car Series (USCS) and the All Star Circuit of Champions.

Smoke’s second podium performance of the weekend occurred during FAST Series action at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio - once again the product of a third row starting position. Although falling one position short of a weekend sweep, Smoke made things interesting and nearly drove by race leader, Cole Duncan, during a battle in traffic with a short distance remaining.

Although Smoke attempted a last-ditch effort maneuver in the final corner, diving low into turns three and four in hopes of sneaking by Duncan just before the flagstand, the attempt fell short, ultimately forced to settle for the next step on the podium.

“That was a fun weekend. Being able to put together back-to-back solid performances like that is always enjoyable,” Tony Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car. “Hats off to this team. They make my job look easy.”

With the intent to add another Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory to his credit, Smoke will continue his 2019 sprint car campaign with a trio of All Star events through southern Wisconsin on Friday through Sunday, May 17-19. Stewart will follow the Series to Wilmot Raceway, Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway, respectively.

Donny Schatz conquers #LetsRaceTwo at Eldora, gains World of Outlaws point lead

Dates: Friday and Saturday, May 10th & 11th
Event: #LetsRaceTwo Weekend
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 1st (1st)
Saturday: Postponed/Weather

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 1st - 1976 points (14-point lead over Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 13, 2019) - For the second time in 2018, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz is a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series main event winner, this time conquering action at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. In fact, the #LetsRaceTwo victory on Friday, May 10, was Schatz’ third consecutive #LetsRaceTwo feature win, as the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws champion swept the Mother’s Day weekend special in 2018.

Schatz’ victory at The Big E was the result of a runner-up finish during his respective heat race, winning the first of two dashes shortly thereafter. The driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car would go on to lead all 30 laps of main event competition to earn the $10,000 payday, forced to withstand early pressure from World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender, Carson Macedo, and then a late race charge by Shark Racing’s Logan Schuchart.

Adding a little extra glamour to Schatz’ dominating performance at Eldora Speedway, he did so with Toco Warranty on the sideboard; his first victory of the season with the California-based company, now the primary sponsor of the ever-familiar No. 15, attached to the car.

Saturday’s #LetsRaceTwo finale was eventually cancelled due to late-afternoon rain showers. The event will be contested on Wednesday, July 17.

“It’s always exciting to get a win at Eldora. We’ve built a pretty strong playbook over the years, but things change; tires change, track surfaces change. Lucky for me, I have a team that adapts well to change and we certainly proved that tonight,” Donny Schatz expressed, who is now the World of Outlaws championship point leader. “I’m happy to get it done for our friends at Toco Warranty. This is our first win with Toco on the sideboard, so that feels pretty special. Hopefully we can earn them a lot more as the season continues.”

Up next on the schedule, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will venture further east and invade areas of Pennsylvania and New York for an extended weekend consisting of four events over five days. Schatz will first visit the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday, May 15, followed by a two-day visit to the world-famous Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, May 17 & 18.

The long weekend will conclude on Sunday, May 19, with a visit to the state-of-the-art Weedsport (N.Y.) Speedway.

Rico Abreu A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 16th (22nd)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 13, 2019) - Although forced to compete in the evening’s Last Chance Showdown after not transferring through his respective heat race, Abreu’s evening at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track ended with promise, eventually qualifying for World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series main event competition with nearly 50 cars entered for action.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Curb Records/Abreu Vineyards/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car, finished 16th during Eldora Speedway’s #LetsRaceTwo program on Friday, May 10, climbing ahead from the outside of row 11 after finishing fourth during the evening’s Last Chance Showdown.

“When you are up against that level of talent, you have to capitalize and get through your heat race. Unfortunately for us, we had to do things the hard way on Friday after not getting through our heat. But, we made the best of it and climbed as high as we could. That’s all we can ask for,” Rico Abreu explained. “I’m proud of my team. They never give up. Their hard work will pay off soon and I’m excited for that to happen.”

With a stretch of action in the Midwest complete, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu Racing will now turn their attention back to the Golden State and return to California for a full slate of Peter Murphy Classic competition at Thunderbowl Raceway on May 17 & 18.

In actuality, Abreu will enter three programs during his Thunderbowl Raceway visit. The St. Helena, California-native will enter the Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT) portion of the weekend on both days, as well as the King of the West (KWS) portion on Saturday; SCCT being a 360c.i. series and KWS being a 410c.i. series. TO THE NORTH
Brent Marks looks for season rejuvenation during Northeast swing

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – Brent Marks’ 2019 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season hasn’t gone as planned. But the Pennsylvanian is aiming to change that beginning Wednesday night at Lincoln Speedway in the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene.
Coming off a career season last year, winning three races, Marks has started the first 14 races of the 2019 season with one top-10, and failed to qualify for two Features.

“It hasn’t been very good,” Marks said, about his season. “But we’re improving, it just doesn’t help with the rain (12 rainouts, so far, this season). You know, you just can’t get a rhythm going.”

The Myerstown, Pa. native is hoping to build momentum during the Series’ Northeast swing, going to tracks he’s made endless laps around.

The swing will start off with Pennsylvania tracks Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday and Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday. Then on Sunday, May 19, the Series will trek to Weedsport Speedway in New York and will cap off the swing Tuesday, May 21, at Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey.

“It’s going to be fun,” Marks said. “I’m excited to get there (to Pennsylvania). I’m excited for it all.”

He should be. Three of the four tracks — Lincoln Speedway, Weedsport Speedway and Bridgeport Speedway — are 3/8-mile ovals, where statistically he’s performed well. His sole top-10 of the season came at USA Raceway — a 3/8-mile.

Last year at Lincoln Speedway, Marks put on an impressive performance, winning the Last Chance Showdown and driving from 21st to 8th.

“I’m excited to get back to Lincoln and see what we can do there,” Marks said. “Last year I felt like we had a really good car, just weren’t in position. I haven’t been to victory lane there in a while and I just want to be able to do that.”

There will be an extra level of difficulty at the Pennsylvania tracks, though — racing with the competitive Pennsylvania Posse.

“They are tough,” Marks said. “They all have great equipment, all smart people. You know, people that used to be on the road years ago are back home working on cars there.”

He added the Posse is good at blocking and taking away a driver’s line, making it hard to pass on the already technical Pennsylvania tracks with long straightaways and sharp corners. That combination makes Pennsylvania a tough state to race in, he said.

Along with returning home, he’s just as excited to get back to Weedsport Speedway — where he earned his second career victory last year.

“That track was a lot of fun last year,” he said. “That track is always pretty slick and you can move around. I think we all have a good time there.”

When the track gets slick, Marks shines. It fits his style, he said.

“I just like the finesse and moving around and trying different lines,” he said. “It’s more fun as a driver when it’s like that.”

A strong run at any of the four tracks would be a confidence booster for Marks and his two-man full-time crew. They were en route to a strong night at Jacksonville Speedway in April before rain showers claimed the night. After hitting the wall in qualifying, Marks charged from 10th to second in his Drydene Heat Race and went on to win the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash.

“I kind of know in the back of my mind what we are doing is working,” Marks said. “It’s just a matter of putting all of the pieces together, and show that we had speed.”

The Brent Marks Racing team has been working on getting the car better in the early stage of the night, Qualifying better and finishing higher in the Heat races to get a good start for the Feature. Marks said, they’ve started to qualify better, but he’s been falling short on his race trim – opposite of what dealt with last year.

He knows he’s missing something, but looks to find it in the coming races.

“The last few races we’ve gone back to old ways of thinking and doing things a little bit different,” Marks said. “We have been racing better, just can’t show for it because of weather and things like that. I’m excited for this part of the season to start. I think we’ll be good.”

Sammy Swindell Heading to Wisconsin for All Star Tripleheader

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 13, 2019) - Sammy Swindell and Thone Motorsports are venturing to Wisconsin this weekend to compete during a trio of Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races.

The action begins on Friday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot before shifting to Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth on Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie.

"It's been a while since I've raced at Wilmot, but we ran Plymouth and Angell Park last year," he said. "A couple of weeks ago we had some pretty good laps at Jacksonville Speedway, which is a little smaller. I think we have a direction to go and be pretty good. I feel we have as good a shot to win as anybody this weekend."

The team is coming off a frustrating weekend at Eldora Speedway, where rain wiped out the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series finale on Saturday following a sour Friday evening.

"It began Friday morning when we out to the truck and it wouldn't start," Swindell said. "We messed around and got some batteries in it. That didn't fix it. They got a starter on it and that didn't fix it. We got someone to take me to the track, where Amy had the t-shirt trailer and my dually. By the time we got back to the track it was after 5 p.m. We were a little behind. The generator is on the toter home so we didn't have any air or lights. It was like we were always behind all night."

Swindell qualified fifth quickest in his group out of two dozen competitors. That earned a starting spot on the outside of the front row in a heat race. Unfortunately, Swindell was penalized a row for not being in staging on time.

"We were parked back behind so you couldn't see anything," he said. "As soon as they started pushing out the first heat I was in the car, but we didn't get over there in time and we got sent back a row. Generally in the heats there's not a lot of passing so we had a shot at making the dash starting second."

Swindell was able to gain a position to finish third in the heat race, which locked him into the 15th starting position for the main event.

"From the second race of the night to last race of the night there was lot of racing that went on," he said. "We made a couple of changes, but the car was way too loose. We struggled with that. It was so loose getting into the corner you'd have to slow down on the bottom. You couldn't run the top because you'd slide up. I was running the middle. I had to make a perfect lap around the middle like I was on pavement. Any time I stepped over that a little bit the backend was out.

"We learned a lot of stuff. We got to looking at pictures of our car compared to others. I have a pretty good idea where I was wrong so I'm hoping we learned a lot from that whenever we come back. That was our first race to run on a bigger, faster track. Running the high-speed place there were a couple of things off with some of the stuff with the tires and the car that you have to do. I haven't run a lot of 410 races the last couple of years so I'm a little behind, but stuff we did run a couple of years ago doesn't seem to be the way it is now. I have to get up to speed with that."

Swindell ended with a 23rd-place finish.

Bell and Swindell SpeedLab Team Rally for Top 10 at Eldora Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 13, 2019) - The Swindell SpeedLab sprint car team scored its fifth top 10 of the season last Friday at Eldora Speedway during the opening night of the scheduled World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.

NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Christopher Bell guided the Plan B Sales sponsored team to a sixth-place finish, which was a great outing after the night started slower than anticipated.

"I think we underdid some things trying to find ways to make him happier," team co-owner Kevin Swindell said. "We did 80 percent of it right, but missed on a couple of things. The last 10 laps of the A Main I think you could have put us against anyone at that point."

The team qualified 11th quickest in its group to open the competition, which featured 49 drivers split into two groups. Bell then rallied from fourth and he made a last-lap pass in a heat race to finish second, which locked the team into a dash.

"The first night we just missed a little bit and that put us behind," Swindell said. "Luckily, he bailed us out in the heat race."

A fourth-place result in a dash lined Bell up eighth for the main event.

"I think our overall balance got a bit nicer throughout the race once everything moved around and we got some heat in the tires," Swindell said. "Whether we got better or everybody else fell off, we ran the same laps. Our best lap was like Lap 5 and we duplicated it on Lap 22."

Bell bounced around near the back of the top 10 for most of the feature before a late charge earned a sixth-place result.

"We felt car-wise we could be a lot better," Swindell said. "That was a bad night in our terms. To run sixth with the Outlaws at Eldora was pretty good."

Bell set quick time during his group's qualifying session to open Saturday's show. Unfortunately, rain invaded the area during heat races and washed out the remainder of the event.

"Knowing we were rolling from the pole of a heat race and could be more creative on seeing how our car drove for more than two laps at a time out of dirty air was huge," he said. "I think we made enough gains we can go back and do it again."

Tim Kaeding Leads Sides Motorsports to Top 10 at Eldora Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 13, 2019) - Tim Kaeding guided Sides Motorsports to a top-10 result last Friday at Eldora Speedway.

"It was the first time he'd been at Eldora in about five years so it was a pretty good night," team owner Jason Sides said. "For us it was like we were just there. We needed to be better earlier in the night with having a six-heat format since there were so many cars."

Kaeding qualified sixth quickest in his group and he won a heat race to lock himself into a dash. He advanced from fourth to third place before capping the night with a seventh-place outing in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event.

Sides laid down the 10th quickest qualifying time in his group, but a fourth-place finish in a heat race was one position shy of locking into the main event. That relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. He placed fifth to transfer into the 23rd starting spot in the main event.

"I got going decent on the bottom, but it seemed like the leaders came by on the top fairly quickly," he said. "It's tricky because you don't want to mess up their race, but momentum is so important at Eldora that when you get out of line or slow down at all it allows people you are racing with by. We lost a couple of positions that way."

Sides ended with a 20th-place result.

Saturday's show rained out.

Sides has a busy week on tap beginning Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., for the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene. The action shifts to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Morgan Cup on Friday and Saturday. Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., hosts the Empire State Challenge on Sunday.
