Rocket1 Racing Goes to Victory Lane at Volunteer Speedway
Double World 100’s at Eldora Up Next for the Team

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (09/05/21) – Brandon Sheppard once again took the Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches / Durham Racing Engines-powered XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model to Victory Lane. His latest conquest came on Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway in the World of Outlaws’ Scorcher 100.

“Track position was more key than ever all three nights with the tire we were on. It made passing difficult. We were in a good position early in the night on Thursday at Cherokee (Speedway), but contact on the start cut down our left rear tire, and after that it was a major uphill battle. We had a solid night at Lavonia Speedway with a podium finish, and then on Saturday night at Volunteer (Speedway), we won our heat and drew the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature. It was kind of a wild feature, but we came out on top.

“Now, we’re extremely excited to be heading to Eldora Speedway for double World 100 events. We’ve won the Dirt Late Model Dream (2019), but we’ve never won the World 100, so hopefully we can get at least one globe this weekend.”

Picking back up with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series, Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard trekked to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Thursday afternoon for the rescheduled Rock Gault Memorial from March 27. In a field of 33 cars, Sheppard started the night by qualifying fastest in his group but contact on the opening lap of his heat race forced him to the tail.

With passing being difficult Brandon was unable to lock into the feature via heat race or B-main action, and as a result was forced to a take a provisional to start the $40,000-to-win A-Main.

Charging from the 12th row, Brandon passed 13 cars in the 60-lap affair to finish 10th.

The following night at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.), for the Charlie Mize Memorial, Brandon’s second-place finish in his heat race earned him a spot in the redraw. Receiving the fourth-starting position, Sheppard improved one spot in the 40-lap affair to place third. He followed Ben Watkins and Tyler Bruening across the line with Brandon Overton and Zack Mitchell rounding out the Top-5.

With 27 Late Models entered on Saturday at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) for the Scorcher 100, Sheppard clocked in third fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race. Avoiding an early scrape on the opening circuit of the feature, Brandon led flag-to-flag in the 40-lapper to bag his ninth win of the season and $10,000 prize. He finished ahead of Chris Madden, Michael Chilton, Tyler Bruening, and Dennis Erb Jr.

Brandon has extended his advantage atop of the World of Outlaws point standings to 180 points.

Brandon Overton Pockets $40,000 in Rock Gault Memorial
Ready for Double World 100 Events at The Big E

EVANS, Ga. (09/06/21) – Brandon Overton added another big payday to his 2021 resume on Thursday night with a $40,000 windfall in the Rock Gault Memorial at South Carolina’s Cherokee Speedway.

The mega World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series victory increased his 2021 win total to 22 in his Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model.

Overton topped a high speed game of chess involving tire management to get the win.

“It is what it is, you know?” Overton said. “You gotta race out there, and you gotta play chess. You gotta sit there and wait on when to go. I moved up early, and I was wanting them to get up (the track) and then I could get in the rubber and maybe pass them that-a-way, but nobody did. They all stayed on the bottom.

“I thought I had enough (tire left), but they kept blowing ‘em and I wasn’t gonna take no chance,” Overton said of the race’s nerve-racking final laps. “I just backed up (in hopes of babying his Longhorn Chassis to the checkered flag).”

Taking part in the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series event originally set for March 27, Wells Motorsports and Brandon Overton invaded Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Thursday afternoon for the Rock Gault Memorial.

With 33 Late Models entered, Overton followed up the second-fastest time in his group with a heat race win. Starting the feature in fourth via the redraw, Brandon nosed ahead of Kyle Larson for second on lap 33 and set his sights on race-leader Jonathan Davenport. Sneaking ahead of Davenport with 11 circuits remaining, Overton charged to his 22nd win of the season and 17th career WoO triumph. He took the checkers ahead Chris Madden, Jimmy Owens, Trent Ivey, and Kyle Larson to pocket $40,000.

For the Charlie Mize Memorial on Friday at Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Ga.), Overton’s eight-lap heat race win promoted him into the redraw. Receiving the sixth-starting position for the feature, Brandon jumped up two spots in the 40-lapper to place fourth. He followed Ben Watkins, Tyler Bruening, and Brandon Sheppard across the line with Zack Mitchell coming in fifth.

To learn more about these events, please visit www.WorldofOutlaws.com .

This week – September 8-11 – Overton will be looking to once again etch his name into the history books as he pursues a pair of World 100 wins at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio). On Wednesday and Thursday the 51st annual World 100 will be held with a $54,000 winner’s check up for grabs in the finale, while Friday and Saturday will see the pandemic-delayed 50th annual World 100 on tap with a $53,000 top prize on the line.

Back in June Brandon swept the 26th and 27th annual Dirt Late Model Dreams at the famed, ½-mile oval.

Matt Henderson Wins $20,000 in Chevrolet Performance World Championship
Career Win Achieved in Crate Racin’ USA Action at Cochran Motor Speedway

LOUDON, Tenn. (09/06/21) – Less than a month after scoring a career-best $10,037 victory at Wartburg Speedway Matt Henderson upped the ante on his personal best achievement with a $20,000 winner’s check in Sunday night’s Chevrolet Performance World Championship finale at Cochran Motor Speedway.

The victory also marked the 13th of 2021 for the driver of the Stanco Equipment Co. No. 17 Vineyard Lawn / CVR Race Car / Hendren Racing Engine Late Model.

"We had a plan, I have a brilliant crew chief-car owner, we just stuck to our strategy. We had the best race car all weekend, nobody had anything for it," Henderson said. "I knew I had to be patient early and I was hoping (Cory) Hedgecock was going to pick the inside and give me the top, because I had found something. Luckily, they didn't see it and pulled him to the inside and that gave me what I needed for him and Ferguson."

For Henderson, claiming another high-profile win reminds him of how far he’s come in his young career.

“It’s been a long road to get here. But we are here – World Champion. I remember when I couldn’t make these races. I remember making these races and not being a threat for a top 10. The road is long, and it gets tiring, but the trip is worth it. The ups and downs haven’t been consistent, but the determination has been. I’m grateful for a great group of support that help me on and off the track. Thank you to all of our sponsors.”

Matt Henderson returned to action with the Crate Racin’ USA series on Saturday afternoon at Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Ga.) as the Crate Late Model tour drew 46 competitors for the opening round of the two-day Chevrolet Performance World Championship. After his 14.793-second lap in time trials earned him the fast time honors, Matt scored a second-place finish in his heat race.

Earning the fifth-starting position for the Saturday night’s main event, Henderson ran in a podium spot early and began his pursuit for the leader after the halfway mark. Sneaking ahead of race-long pacesetter Carson Ferguson after a lap-53 caution, Matt paced the field for the remainder of the 75-lapper to capture the $20,000 prize, the largest payday of his career. He finished ahead of Ferguson, Cory Hedgecock, Joseph Joiner, and Wil Herrington to register his 13th win of the season.

Nick Hoffman Bags $11,000 for Third-Straight Plow Boy Nationals Victory
Double World 100s at Eldora Speedway Up Next

Mooresville, North Carolina (09/06/21) – Nick Hoffman claimed the $11,000 winner’s check on Sunday night for winning the Plow Boy Nationals at Spoon River Speedway for the third-straight year in his Elite Chassis No. 2 Wehrs Machine / Fox Shocks Modified.

The victory brought an extended holiday weekend of racing to an end, which saw Hoffman competing in both Super Late Model and Modified competition.

“It was a busy week. We struggled with the red clay at Cherokee (Speedway) on Thursday night, and just battled the track conditions the whole night. We were fast out of the gate in the Modified at Farmer City, but rain goes us after qualifying, and then on Saturday at Fairbury we just weren’t very good and worked all day Sunday to find the issue. Everything came together nicely at Spoon River Speedway, and we won the Plow Boy Nationals for the third-straight year,” Hoffman said. “I’m fired up to head to Eldora this weekend and go after some globes!”

Nick Hoffman entered the $40,000-to-win Rock Gault Memorial on Thursday night at South Carolina’s Cherokee Speedway. Thirty-three World of Outlaws (Morton Buildings) Late Model Series racers entered the event, and Nick missed the transfer to the feature via heat race action but finished second in a B-main to lock into the 19th-starting spot for the 60-lap feature.

On a track surface that made passing a challenge he was only able to muster a 17th-place finish in the finale.

Friday night found Hoffman back in his Modified with a trip to Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway for an Summit American Modified Series (AMS) event. He started the night by setting fast time, but unfortunately Mother Nature washed the program away after qualifying.

On Saturday night Nick was one of 62 Summit AMS entries on hand at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway for the FALS Super Nationals. Advancing seventh-to-fourth in his heat race, Nick fell short of locking into the feature and was forced to run a B-main, which he won from fourth.

The $10,000-to-win finale saw Hoffman racing from the 14th-starting spot to a runner-up finish behind Mike McKinney with Curt Spalding, Brandon Bollinger, and Allen Weisser completing the Top 5.

On Sunday evening Nick rolled into Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), where he looked to win the Plow Boy Nationals for the third-straight year. He would be able to accomplish his goal. After starting fourth, Hoffman charged to the lead on lap 27 and never looked back on his way to the $11,000 triumph, which marked his 32nd of the season.

Nick will return to the driver’s seat of the Scott Bloomquist Racing No. 0NH this week with a trip to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for double World 100 events. The 51st World 100 is set for Wednesday and Thursday, while the 50th World 100 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Hoffman will be a teammate to the legendary Scott Bloomquist throughout the double crown jewel weekend.

Gregg Satterlee Continues Port Royal Success with Saturday Win
Sights Set on 50th and 51st World 100 at Eldora Speedway

INDIANA, Pa. (09/06/21) – For the fourth time in 2021 Gregg Satterlee took his Satterlee Motorsports No. 22 Keyser Manufacturing/ Valvoline/ Classic Ink/ XR1 Rocket Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to Victory Lane at Port Royal Speedway.

His latest triumph at the ½-mile came on Saturday evening in the Butch Renninger Memorial and was worth $6,333. The victory also marked his ninth of the year.

“It was a good weekend for our team. We were slow out of the gate at Bedford (Speedway) on Friday night, but we passed like 20 cars in the feature to finish second, so that was a good way to end that night. Then, on Saturday night we were back at Port Royal, and we got another win there. That place has been good to us this year,” Satterlee commented. “We’re headed into Eldora (Speedway) with some confidence. Hopefully, we can hit the ground running there and make some noise before the weekend is over.”

Friday night found Gregg Satterlee in action at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pa.) to kick off his Labor Day weekend with the Labor Day 55. In a field of 32 Zimmer’s United Late Model Southern Series (ULMS) entries, Gregg’s sixth-place finish in his heat race relegated him to a B-Main.

Finishing third in the consolation event, Satterlee locked into the 22nd-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Gregg passed 20 cars in the 55-lap affair to register an impressive second-place finish. He trailed Michael Norris across the line with Max Blair, Dan Stone, and Jeff Rine rounding out the Top-5.

For the Butch Renninger Memorial on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.), Satterlee secured his spot into the ULMS-sanctioned main event with an eight-lap heat race victory. Starting the feature in fifth, Gregg wrestled away the top spot on the ninth circuit but handed it back to Michael Norris on lap 21. Stealing back the lead a circuit later, Satterlee raced to his ninth win of the season and 10th career ULMS triumph. He took the checkers ahead of Rick Eckert, Max Blair, Jason Covert, and Gary Stuhler to claim $6,333.

Gregg is currently third in the ULMS Southern point standings. For full results from these events, please visit www.ULMSRacing.com .

The team returns to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) this week – September 8-11 – for the 50th and 51st World 100. Gregg scored his first-ever Eldora Speedway victory during prelims for the 26th Dirt Late Model Dream back in June and will look to build on that success this weekend.

Wednesday’s program features twin $10,000-to-win events, while Thursday posts a $54,000 top prize for the 51st annual World 100. On Friday another round of twin $10,000-to-win programs will be contested, while Saturday boasts a $53,000 winner’s check for the 50th annual World 100.

Full event details are available at www.EldoraSpeedway.com .

Ramirez Pockets $10,000 for Hard-Fought USMTS Fayette County Win
Back on Top in Latest USMTS Standings Heading into Busy Week

WOODWARD, Okla. (09/06/21) – Dereck Ramirez piloted his Ramirez Motorsports No. 4r Koda Services/ Boom-Test Well Service/ Raw Truck Wash/ Hughes Racing Chassis/ Cornett Racing Engine Modified to the $10,000 victory on Sunday night at Iowa’s Fayette County Speedway.

The fourth victory of the year for Ramirez came with a little bit of luck after race leader Jake O’Neil headed pitside during a caution flag.

“I don’t know if Jake ran over something on the track or not but I saw him with a flat tire there on that caution,” Ramirez said in victory lane. “Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good but we put ourselves in position to win the race and sometimes that happens.”

Once in the lead, Derek Ramirez had to withstand a late-race challenge from Tyler Wolff.

“On those restarts there’s so many holes down there you kind of get into a rhythm and it's pretty easy to get through them, but on that restart there I kind of went in a little tentative—it’s my own fault. He slid me and took advantage of it, but I got him back again. He raced me clean and that’s all we ask for here. Thankfully it all worked out and we got the win.”

With Mother Nature wiping out Friday’s event at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.), Dereck Ramirez kicked off his Labor Day weekend of racing action on Saturday with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.).

Drawing a talent-laden field of 62 entries, Ramirez followed up a third-place finish in his heat race with a third-place finish in his B-Main. Starting the $10,000-to-win feature in 19th, Dereck charged forward nine spots in the 40-lapper to finish 10th.

The following night at Fayette County Speedway (West Union, Iowa) for the ninth annual War in West Union, Dereck’s runner-up finish in his heat race lined him up fifth on the starting grid for the feature.

After taking part in a heated battled for second with Dan Ebert early, Ramirez inherited the lead during a lap-32 caution but handed the top spot to Tyler Wolff on the ensuing circuit. Wrestling back the top spot one lap later, Dereck raced to his fourth win of the season, which came over Wolff, Rodney Sanders, Jason Hughes, and Jake Timm. He earned $10,000.

Dereck holds a 16-point advantage atop the latest USMTS point standings. Complete results from these events are available at www.USMTS.com .

Ramirez’ pursuit of his first career USMTS National Championship will see him competing in four events in four days this week. Action opens on Wednesday night at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.) with a $5,000-to-win affair before shifting south to RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas) on Thursday evening for another $5,000-to-win program. Friday and Saturday will take the tour to Louisiana for a pair of $10,000-to-win events at Ark-La-Tex Speedway and Revolution Park.

Dereck Ramirez and Ramirez Motorsports would like to thank all of their sponsors and supporters including Boom-Test Well Service, Koda Services, Raw Truck Wash, Woodward Steel, Hughes Racing Chassis, Midwest Refrigeration, Cornett Racing Engines, Go Lithium, Swift Springs, Woodward Steel, Sybesma Graphics, Afco Shocks, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.

We rounded out the weekend with a 10th-place finish on Sunday night with the Carolina Clash Series at Cherokee,” Knight shared. “All-in-all it was a pretty good weekend for our team, and we’ll keep digging as we enter the final few months of the season.”
