Ramirez returned with the USMTS Friday night as the series kicked off a southern swing at Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La. Drawing 42 cars for the eighth annual Cajun Clash, Ramirez jumped up one spot in his heat race to pick up the 8-lap victory. Losing two positions in the 40-lap feature, Dereck recorded a seventh-place outing.

“I was just going to stay in my line,” Ramirez said. “I thought about going to the top and I was like ‘Man, I know it’s pretty clean down here and if I move up and get passed I’m going to be mad at myself.”

Shaun Jones finished third and Gene Knaub crossed the line fourth. Bryan’s father, Jim Bernheisel salvaged a fifth-place finish after making contact with the wall while running second.

“This Lazer Chassis was good all night. I’m wore out, but that was a blast,” Bryan added. “The track was really racy; you could really go anywhere.  I have to thank my family; they support me so much through all this. Of course, all of our great sponsors as well.”

Dover Extends Top-10 Streak With ASCS National Tour to 15 Straight Years

Inside Line Promotions - GREENWOOD, Neb. (Sept. 16, 2020) - Jack Dover captured his first top-10 result of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Saturday during the Casey's General Store Midwest Fall Brawl at I-80 Speedway.

Dover's sixth-place run gives him at least one top 10 in each of the last 15 years with the series.

"I'm pretty pleased," he said. "To run sixth with that group is pretty good. We're happy with how it went."

Dover started the event, which was also sanctioned by the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints, by rallying from fourth to win a heat race.

"We got a good start and went into turns one and two through the middle," he said. "I had the lead coming out of turn two. We went into turns three and four and a car spun out so we went to a complete restart. That moved me to the front row outside. We took the lead right away. Sam Hafertepe Jr. got to me and we battled it out for a few laps. We switched our line up, running the middle of the track, and we won."

Dover followed the heat race performance by advancing from fifth to second place in a qualifier.

"We had a good start again and were next to third place at the start/finish line," he said. "We went into turns one and two and were in second. At that point with a guy like (Austin) McCarl in front of you it's hard to get to him, especially when he's in clean air. We kinda rode in second. I didn't press the issue. I figured we were pretty good in points."

Dover ranked third in event points to garner the third starting position for the main event.

"In the feature we rode around in fourth place most of the race," he said. "The last couple of restarts I made a mistake and went to the bottom each time. It just wasn't the place to be."

Dover's sixth-place outing was his 19th top 10 of the season.

Next up is a two-day show at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D., this Friday and Saturday for the DeKalb/Asgrow Power Series Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores featuring the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and the Midwest Power Series. Dover swept a two-day event at the track earlier this month.

"We're really excited," he said. "We had a good weekend there two weeks ago. We know what we have to do to make the car a little better. I think we have a top-three car going into the weekend. My confidence is high, but I'm trying to keep a cool head."

Hagar Seeking Return to Victory Lane at Hockett/McMillin Memorial

Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 16, 2020) - Derek Hagar is optimistic entering the 10th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial this weekend.

Hagar has won both the winged and non-wing portions of the marquee event hosted by Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. However, this weekend he will only be competing in winged action with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour when the event runs Thursday through Saturday.

"We've always had good success when we go to Missouri," he said. "We were just looking at the event t-shirt and it shows we're the only driver to win both the winged and non-wing races. This year we'll only be doing the winged stuff. I look forward to continuing that success this weekend. There's a bunch of cars there and each year the event gets bigger. Just to get in the A Main without having to run a B Main all weekend would be an accomplishment. Once we get in the show we know how to find our way to the front."

Hagar won the winged event in 2014 and he swept the weekend in non-wing competition in 2015.

Hagar is coming off a frustrating ending to a promising night last Saturday at I-30 Speedway, which featured the Ralph Henson Memorial with ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Lone Star Region.

"We were late getting there," he said. "I barely made it myself in time for the pill draw. We had some issues with the trailer. Kenny didn't leave the shop until 6 o'clock and it's a two-hour hike to the track. We didn't get to hot lap. When he got there we unloaded, put heat in the motor and went out for the heat race. We got the lead on the first lap and won it."

Hagar won his heat race from third. That put him in the pole shuffle and he lost his round to garner the sixth starting position for the main event. After winning the Race of Champions, which had no bearing on the program, Hagar lined up on the outside of the third row for the A Main.

"On the first lap I went from sixth to driving by a guy for second," he said. "We had a fast race car. I stuck the bottom really good in turns one and two. Everybody else went middle to the top. I was about to take second when the guy chopped me off going into the corner in turn three and it knocked the front end out. It broke the front end in half and then I got clobbered on the right side. That ended our night."

The DNF snapped Hagar's streak of nine straight top 10s.

QUICK RESULTS -

Sept. 12 - I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. - Heat race: 1 (3); Pole Shuffle 6 (5); Race of Champions: 1 (1); Feature: 20 (6).

Hagar would like to thank B&D Towing and Recovery, J&J Auto Racing, FK Rod Ends, Dynotech Performance, Summit Truck Group, Fragola Performance Systems, Killer Coatings, Petra Construction, Administrative Consulting Services, Xtreme Race Graphics, Southern Collision Centre, Jeff's Heating and Cooling, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, Weld Wheels, DHR Suspension, Hinchman Racewear, Wix Filters, Wings Unlimited, Valvoline and Ti64 for their continued support.
