SOUTHERN ALL STAR DIRT RACING SERIES February 23, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2021 Hall of Fame Class Announced The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series proudly announces it’s 2021 inductees for the Hall of Fame to be enshrined as part of the program of the Governors Cup on August 14. The inductees include drivers, promoters, and contributors from both the dirt and asphalt series. On the dirt side: Rex Richey (Living) from Ringgold, GA. Rex won the championship in 1989 and then in 2001 with 15 wins. Randy Weaver (Living) from Crossville, TN. Randy won the championship in 2009, 2010 and 2012 with 21 wins. Stan Massey (Decesed) from Mableton, GA. Stan ran the circuit in the 80’s with 2 wins. Monty Morrow (Promoter) from Cleveland, TN Monty was the successor to Joe Lee Johnson at Cleveland Speedway and also was the promoter at I-75 Raceway in Niota, TN and North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA. Sam Bates (Promoter) Sam built North Alabama Speedway and hosted the first Southern All Star Dirt Race. Jimmy “Pup” Thomas (Contributor) Knoxville, TN. Pup has been the Hoosier tire rep for 30+ years. On the asphalt side: Mike Oliver (Living) from Guntersville, AL. Mike was the first 2-time champion winning it in 1992 and 93 with 5 wins Dan Beddingfield (Living) from Owens Cross Roads, AL. Dan was the first driver to win the 1994 championship in his rookie year and 3 wins in his career. Tony Walls (Deceased) Tony won the 1998 Championship and had over 40 wins with the series. James “Cotton” Varner (Official) “Cotton was chief tech steward for the series from 1991 to 1996. Charlie Edwards (Promoter)from Senoia, GA. Charlie hosted both series at Senoia Raceway while he was the owner. Doug Sopha (Contributor) from Sparta, TN. Doug started Hoosier South in the 70’s and was the tire distributor for both series from the beginning. Wendell (Shorty) Bearden (Contributor) from Eastman, GA. Shorty owned Bearden Oil and was the Sunoco Race Fuels distributor for both series from the beginning.
