Southern All Stars & Senoia Raceway Teams Up For Michael Head Jr Memorial


FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series has always held a race that honored the fallen son of 1991 Southern All Star Champion Mike Head with an event at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL., well in 2017 the event has found a new home and that is the Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA.,

Bill & Mayes Massey along with Lynn Acklin & Dewayne Keith worked the deal out with Lynn Phillips at Talladega Short Track to move the annual race closer to the Head family where all the family members would be able to attend and enjoy a night of racing honoring his Michael who was killed in an Atlanta carjacking attempt that went wrong.

The Southern All Stars are once again honored to be a part of this event and are glad that the Massey’s at Senoia want to keep the traditional race on the Southern All Star calendar.  This year’s event will be 54 laps event that will pay $4,054 to win.  The 2016 event got rained out at Talladega, the last five winners of the event include Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, TN., Todd Morrow of East Ridge, TN., Randy Weaver a two time winner from Crossville, TN., and William Thomas of Phenix City, AL.

The 2017 version of the event should be a home game for the drivers atop the series standings as Austin Horton of Newnan, GA., & T J Reaid of Acworth, GA.,  are one and two going into this weekend’s race and fellow Georgian Tristan Sealy of Moultrie is third, Bo Shirley of Gadsden, AL., is fourth and Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., is fifth all of these drivers are expected to be in action along with Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA., Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN., coming off his first Southern All Star win last week at Thunderhill, Clint Smith of Senoia, GA., Brandon Overton of Appling, GA., J R Moseley of Columbus, GA., Riley Hickman, Michael Page of Villa, GA., along with many of the Senoia drivers as well as regional drivers from across the southeast.

The pit gates open at 4pm with race time s et for 7:30pm along with the Southern All Stars program there will be a full racing program of Senoia Raceway divisions.
