SOUTHERN ALL STAR DIRT RACING SERIES PR#14 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Southern All Stars B J Parker Memorial Set For June 10th At Talladega Short Track FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series and the Talladega Short Track will honor the founder of the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series this Saturday night with the 5th Annual B J Parker Memorial 42 laps of super late models action that will pay $4,200 to win. Parker and his wife Gail, who passed away in 2016, started the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series in 1983 as a need to bring drivers in from other areas to race against the local drivers for better paying races that would help out both the drivers and the track promoters. The series that B J Parker started has now become longest and continuous operating dirt racing series in the country as 2017 marks the 34th year of racing that will consist of 20 events at 10 different tracks around the southeast United States. Current owner Matt Wagner and GM Lynn Acklin have tried to stick with what B J would have wanted and that is to offer good paying purses for the drivers and offer the promoters a quality show that will make them some money as wall entertain the fans, that philosophy has been the cornerstone of what B J Parker set out to do and the series it still doing that in 2017. This Saturday the Talladega Short Track will host the 5th Annual B J Parker Memorial, track owner Lynn Phillips is the son law of Parker and the track has been a main stay on the series since the series started, this will be the 96th event run under the Southern All Star sanction at Talladega Short Track. Cruise with the Champions/Dirtondirt.com rookie of the year contender Austin Horton of Newnan, GA., is top of the charts this week in the series points standings with rookies dominating the top three spots. T J Reaid of Acworth, GA., is second followed by Tristan Sealy of Moultrie, GA., third, Bo Shirley of Gadsden, AL., fourth and another rookie Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., and round out the top five.
