Cory Hedgecock Adds His Name To Southern All Stars Record Books At I-75 Raceway RACE RECAP: NIOTA, TN--The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Max Fab rolled into Tim & Angie Kyle’s I-75 Raceway Saturday night for the first time and the fans seen Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN., take the lead away from Kenny Collins with four laps remaining to scored his first ever Southern All Stars win and take home the $4,000 payday. Hedgecock who started third and was shuffled in and out of the top five all night long due to the numerous restarts but eventually got hold of the second spot and with time running out Hedgecock move as then race leader Kenny Collins was slowed by lapped traffic and this gave Hedgecock the chance to move under him down the front stretch and get the win. Kenny Collins of Colbert, GA., came home in the second spot for his best ever finish with the series, third went o Jason Manley of Lenoir City, TN., in his first race with the series as he came from his 10th starting spot, fourth went to Southern All Star regular Joseph Faulkner of Flintville, TN., who had his best run of the season with a fourth place finish from his 15th starting spot and fifth went to Ryan Tims of Georgetown, TN., from his 20th starting spot in his first appearance with the series. Finishing in sixth place was Joe Crabtree of Decatur, TN., from his 16th starting spot, seventh went to Mitchell Childress of Knoxville, TN., who started in the fourth spot but faded late in the race, eighth to Southern All Star regular Mark Dodson of Caledonia, MS., as he started 24th, ninth went to Dusty Carver of Englewood, TN., show started 21st and tenth place went to another Southern All Star regular Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., who started 13th and fought rear end problems all night. RACE TIDBITS: Southern All Star points leader Jay Scott tangle with Mark Dodson early in the race damaging his nose ending his night as well as Southern all Star regular Ray McElhiney who had problem early in the race. Vic Hill led for 11 laps till he retired with problems Dusty Carver made a bonsai move in the first be B Main to get the final transfer spot as he went under Ryan King and Jeff Neubert in turn two to get the spot. Ryan Tims made his first start with the series and if the name sounds familiar to Southern All Star fans, his dad Paul Tims won the series rookie of the year title 2001. Steve Smith of Powell, TN., had a wild crash in qualifying as he hit a tire located indie the track and flipped. He was got of his car under his own power and walked away.
