T  J Reaid Scores First Southern All Star Win At Talladega Short Track

RACE RECAP: EASTABOGA, AL--The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series finished the 2017 season Saturday night at the Talladega Short Track and T J Reaid of Acworth, GA., a full time competitor with the series this year scored his first career win with the series as he held off a late race charge from four time Southern All Star champion Riley Hickman to get the win.  Reaid a former asphalt race who has one of the more prestigious asphalt wins in his career as he won the All American 400 at Nashville, moved to dirt racing over the last 2-3 years and has started to pick up wins and is learning more and more about the tracks and different types of surfaces.  This is Reaid first full time run with the series and the 2018 plan right now is for him to start off with the Southern All Stars and see what develops.  Four time series champion Riley Hickman had a great weekend at TST,  2 Nesmith wins, Friday night super win and second with the Southern All Stars. Austin Horton of Newnan, GA., became the 22nd Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series Champion in the 34 year history of the series and also became the first driver to win the series championship along with the Cruise with the Champions/ Rookie of the Year title. 

Fourth place finisher Michael Page came from 11th, but was light at the scales, moving Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., into fourth and Ashton Winger of Senoia, GA., rounded out the top five from his 7th starting spot.

RACE TIDBITS: Todd Morrow, Dallas Cooper, Will Roland, Tim Busha and Jason Croft rounded out the top 10 as all of these drivers advanced through the B mains and worked their way into top 10 finishes.
Major crash of the night took out Austin Smith, Jason Hiett, Mike McConnell, Terry Smith, J T Seawright, Austin Kirkpatrick, and Aaron Ridley

First time 2017 drivers this weekend included, Carlton Freeman, Tyler Thomason, Lavon Sparks, Patrick Michelle, and Lucas Burns.
