Rocket1 Racing Competes in Weekend LOLMDS Action

Set to Return to WoO Action this Weekend at Cherokee Speedway

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (03/22/21) – Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard hit the road with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the weekend. LOLMDS competition took the team to Indiana and Ohio with their Valvoline No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Saturday found Rocket1 Racing at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway for the annual Indiana Icebreaker. In a field of 44 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries, Sheppard posted the fastest time in his qualifying group to earn the pole position for his heat race. He battled adverse track conditions to pick up the eight-lap heat race victory.

Unfortunately, citing safety concerns for competitors due to the deteriorating track conditions, series and track officials postponed the remainder of the program to Sunday, May 2.

Shifting to Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Sunday, Brandon was one of 29 competitors on hand to chase a $12,000 top prize. After getting behind in qualifying, Sheppard advanced from fifth to finish third in his heat race.

Starting the 50-lap main event in ninth, Brandon raced inside the Top-10 for much of the race before slipping to a 12th-place outing.

“It was an interesting weekend for sure. Brownstown was as tricky as I’ve ever seen it, but we showed speed before they decide to postpone the feature,” Sheppard noted. “Then at Atomic we didn’t have the qualifying effort we needed and that left us behind the eight ball for pretty much the rest of the night. The entire team is working hard though, and we’ll look to park it in Victory Lane this weekend in South Carolina.”

This weekend – March 26-27 – the team will return to action with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series with a trip to Cherokee Speedway for the Rock Gault Memorial. Action opens on Friday night with the field being divided into a pair of $5,000-to-win, prelim events. On Saturday night a hefty $40,000 winner’s check is on the line.

Sheppard currently sits second in the latest World of Outlaws Late Model Series standings. To learn more about these events, please visit www.WoOLMS.com.

INDIANA, Pa. (03/22/20) – Gregg Satterlee broke out the broom over the weekend in Zimmer’s United Late Model Series (ULMS) competition at Pennsylvania’s Port Royal Speedway. The driver of the Satterlee Motorsports No. 22 Keyser Manufacturing/ Valvoline/ Classic Ink/ Rocket Chassis picked up over $7,000 in winnings for his performances on Saturday and Sunday.

“We had a far from ideal Speedweeks, and it just seemed like we were on the struggle bus for a week down there. However, we came home and went to work on this No. 22, and the results showed this weekend with a pair of wins,” Satterlee shared. “A big shoutout goes to my crew and my sponsors for making this all possible.”

After Mother Nature postponed Friday night’s opener at Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) to Sunday afternoon, Gregg Satterlee kicked off his weekend on Saturday afternoon at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pa.) with the opening round of the Zimmer’s United Late Model Southern Series doubleheader.

Taking the checkers ahead of Norris, Max Blair, Rick Eckert, and Tyler Bare, Satterlee pocketed $3,000.

The following night, Gregg finished second in his heat race behind Donald Lingo Jr., which positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the A-Main. Charging from third-to-first on a lap-five restart, Satterlee sailed to his second win in as many nights with Jeff Rine, Michael Norris, Dylan Yoder, and Donald Lingo Jr. following him across the finish line.

Williamson Records First Career Top 10 at Devil's Bowl Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (March 22, 2021) - The transformation of Garet Williamson was evident during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour's season-opening weekend.

The Bryant Paver Motorsports pilot invaded Devil's Bowl Speedway for the 48 th annual Spring Nationals last weekend. He'd only visited the tricky track once in his career for a two-day event last year, finishing 16 th and 19th, respectively.

"I think we were a lot better this year," he said. "Things have gotten simpler and aren't so fast. I'm a smoother driver, too. I think that all showed."

Williamson was on a mission last weekend, charging from eighth to fifth place in a heat race and winning a qualifier from the second starting position on Friday. That ranked him fourth in overall points to garner the fourth starting position for the main event.

"We had a shot at a podium before the wreck," he said. "Another driver went to slide me and missed the bottom. He got up to me and I didn't have any room. I didn't see him until the last minute. His right rear tire got into my nerf bar and I went for a wild. I think that's definitely up there with our Knoxville wreck last year as the worst in my career."

Williamson was in contention for a podium when the wild wreck in turn two ended his night early and destroyed his sprint car.

The team pulled out the backup car for Saturday's event and there wasn't a loss of speed. Williamson finished where he started in a heat race - second - and in a qualifier - third. That was good enough to rank him eighth in points and lock into the A Main.

"We didn't know how we'd adapt and we adapted really well," he said. "It was a new night and you can't think about the night before. We were up to sixth or seventh in the feature and had a restart when we got bottled up. Everybody was on the bottom and I messed up. When it's like that you have to go for every position and it bit us. With the track conditions it wasn't super racy, but I'll take a top 10."

Williamson duked it out in the top 10 throughout the entire race before ending 10th, marking his first career top 10 at a track known for being hard to learn.

"That place is super tricky," he said. "It's tough and hard on confidence going to a place like that. I went back with a good mindset and that helped a lot. Now I know I can run good there and that will help the next time we go back."

Next up for Williamson is an ASCS National Tour tripleheader beginning Thursday at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas. It will be the series debut at the oval and Williamson's first time at the track.

I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., hosts the ensuing two days. Williamson recorded a pair of sixth-place showings at the bullring last year.

SawBlade.com's Bogucki Scores Pair of Top Fives During ASCS National Tour Opening Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (March 22, 2021) - Scott Bogucki got off to a strong start to the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season last weekend during the 48th annual Spring Nationals.

The SawBlade.com sponsored driver earned a pair of top fives and he is tied for second in the championship standings after the season-opening doubleheader at Devil's Bowl Speedway.

"Two tops fives was perfect," he said. "When I looked back at stats from last year I was either in the top three or seventh or eighth. I didn't have a lot of top fives. I didn't have that consistency. That's what I wanted to work toward."

Bogucki advanced from third to second place in a heat race on Friday. A fourth-place finish in a qualifier locked him into the 10th starting spot for the A Main.

"We got to third a couple of times, but I had the car too tight in the qualifier," he said. "We freed it up for the feature and we were really good."

Bogucki's fourth-place showing gave him at least one top five at the oval during three of the last four years. He repeated the strong performance on Saturday during the weekend finale.

Bogucki charged from ninth to third place in a heat race to earn the most points during heat race competition. A seventh-place finish in a qualifier lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the feature.

"I made an error and hit an infield tire in the qualifier," he said. "We were lucky to finish the race. We had to change the whole front end and put a bolt-on shock tower on because we knocked it off the frame. We had barely any shock travel (in the A Main). It made the car rolled up on the right rear. To salvage what we did, I was really happy."

Bogucki rallied for a fifth-place result. He is one of only three drivers who produced back-to-back top fives last weekend.

Bogucki has an ASCS National Tour tripleheader on tap this weekend. It begins on Thursday at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas, before I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., welcomes the series to town on Friday and Saturday.

"I've been to Superbowl Speedway once a long time ago," he said. "I led until one lap to go and we ran second. As for I-30 Speedway, I feel we got a grasp of it so hopefully this weekend goes well. It was somewhere I struggled. I've never really felt like we've had a great shot there, but we made progress last year so I'm looking forward to going back."

Sides Looking to Put Pieces Together as World of Outlaws Head to Midwest

Inside Line Promotions - PAIGE, Texas (March 22, 2021) - Jason Sides showcased moments of strength last weekend during the Drydene Texas Two-Step Presented by American Lube Supply.

Sides was in contention for a top 10 during World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series action at Cotton Bowl Speedway before a similar problem plagued him in the second half of the feature on Friday.

Sides had qualified 18th quickest before he hustled from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the A Main.

"We were pretty decent early, but late in the race it got really slick and we sucked," he said. "The last couple of restarts we lost a few spots. We got a couple back, but at the very end my car got so free. I'm not sure if I got the tires too hot and gooey, but I had no grip the last few laps."

Sides salvaged a 14th-place result, which marked his third straight top-15 showing.

Saturday was on pace to deliver better results as Sides timed in ninth quickest in qualifying. He narrowly lost out on a great battle for fourth place in a heat race, which started him 15th for the feature.

"It was a lot slicker," he said. "The track had a little rubber late in the third heat race off turn four. They watered it a few times trying to help it. We got going and weren't terrible to start the feature. Then we got to spinning the tires. Even when I'd get in the rubber it wasn't good. I stayed down on the bottom too long. I moved up, but it was a little too late. About the time Jacob (Allen) and Brad (Sweet) were racing for the lead they had just passed me. Then Jacob hit the wall the next lap and we were trapped a lap down. We got back by three or four cars, but we were a lap down so it wasn't for position."

Sides ended 18th.

U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo., welcomes Sides and the Outlaws on Friday before the Jason Johnson Classic is Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. Sides' career-best result at U.S. 36 Raceway was eighth in 2009. He's also enjoyed success at Lake Ozark Speedway, where he established a new track record in 2019.
