2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Seventh | 1982 points [160 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 26, 2021) - Returning to a more consistent and well-known state, ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, made the most of his return to Bristol Motor Speedway during the recent weekend and translated a pair of A-Main starts into a pair of top-five finishes, highlighting all results with a podium score during the second night of Bristol’s Throwdown featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The back-to-back top-five outcome served a major rebound for Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, as the Brownsburg, Indiana-based outfit missed the top-ten during five consecutive Series starts, mostly due to mechanical misfortune.
Schatz, driver of the Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, finished second in his podium appearance, ultimately gaining one position after starting third on the Throwdown finale grid. Making things interesting, the Fargo, North Dakota-native was in a prime position to pounce during a green-white-checkered restart, but eventual winner and fellow WoO championship contender, David Gravel, prevailed, solidifying his weekend sweep for a grand total of $35,000.
The $25,000-to-win Throwdown finale was scheduled to be completed on Saturday, but Mother Nature had other plans.
As the only former Bristol winner in the field, Donny Schatz opened his weekend at the Last Great Colosseum with a fifth-place run on Friday, maintaining for a top-five after starting third on the feature grid.
Although the team is still seventh in the World of Outlaws championship standings, Schatz’ weekend results pushed the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing entry 24 points closer to the championship lead, now trailing Brad Sweet by 160 markers.
“I wouldn’t say we’re back yet,” Schatz said afterward the Bristol finale. “We had a solid finish and had some good speed, but it’s a lot harder to climb out of a hole than people think. It’s just the nature of the beast. We had a chance to contend there for a while, but just couldn’t follow through. Momentum means everything, that’s a big lesson I’ve learned in my 25 years. So hopefully this is a stepping stone to getting back on track.”
Donny Schatz will continue his quest toward an 11th World of Outlaws championship with a three-day march through Illinois and Missouri on Thursday through Saturday, April 29-May 1. The Greatest Show On Dirt will visit Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Thursday, followed by two straight nights at I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday.

Event: 25th Anniversary Silver Shootout
Series: United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour (USCS)
Track: Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 4th (5th)
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 26, 2021) - Despite poor weather conditions disrupting plans to contend for two victories instead of one, three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer, Tony Stewart, made the most of his weekend at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama, and earned a top-five outcome during USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour competition, ultimately turning a third row starting position into a fourth-place finish.
Smoke, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car, kicked-off his evening at Talladega with a heat race victory, setting the tone for his soon-to-be third top-five finish of the 2021 season.
“We enjoy racing at Talladega. It’s always good to get back there,” Tony Stewart said. “Our team is in a good place right now. Things are clicking and we’re building more and more confidence with every start. I’m excited to see where things go over the next few weeks.”
With confidence and momentum a continuing benefactor, Smoke will enter the month of May with not only a recent USCS top-five to his credit, but also two victories, most recently claiming a $12,000 payday during a thriller at Virginia Motor Speedway with the All Star Circuit of Champions. Accomplished in dramatic fashion, the five-figure score was acquired with a last lap, last corner pass over Monrovia, Indiana’s Justin Peck. Stewart started eighth on the A-Main grid and led only the last 100 yards of the 30-lap blockbuster.
Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing have not declared plans for the coming weekend. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online, as well as on social media for schedule updates.

ST. HELENA, Calif. (April 26, 2021) - For the first time in 2021, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing rolled out a second car, and what a debut it was, surprising Wooster, Ohio-native and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Jac Haudenschild, with the revival of his iconic No. 22, which, at the time of its original debut nearly 30 years prior, was owned by the late Jack Elden.
Officially launching Haudenschild’s Farewell Tour - celebrating his final year behind the wheel of a sprint car - the “Wild Child” strapped into the ever-popular No. 22 for Bristol Motor Speedway’s Throwdown during the recent weekend, joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series for a $35,000 potential.
Rico Abreu, aboard his Rowdy Energy/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Self Made/Wiser Agency/No. 24 sprint car, joined Haudenschild during the World of Outlaws invasion of the Last Great Colosseum, and although the duo missed the top-ten during each night Bristol’s dirt blockbuster, race fans and sprint car enthusiasts from around the globe were finally reacquainted with one of the sport’s most well-known and iconic rides.
“It was a special weekend for everyone,” Rico Abreu said. “Jac had no idea this was all happening. It was tough to keep things a secret because we were all so excited to show him, but it all worked out. I wish the weekend would have gone a little bit better for each of us, but we’ll get back to where we need to be soon. We had some solid runs with the All Stars last weekend, but we couldn’t quite get the momentum to shift over to Bristol. This week is a new week and we’re going to do whatever we have to do to get back up front.”
Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 campaign with a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series tripleheader on April 29-May 1. The Greatest Show On Dirt will visit Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Thursday, followed by two straight nights at I-70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday.
Jac Haudenschild will return to his iconic No. 22 during #LetsRaceTwo action at Eldora Speedway on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8.
