Jensen Ford Races to $3,000 Victory at The Gap
Eyes Return to 4/10-Mile Tennessee Oval this Saturday

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (05/15/23) Jensen Ford collected his third win of the 2023 season on Saturday night at Tennessee’s Volunteer Speedway.

Behind the wheel of Mack McCarter’s Jim Beeman Lumber / West End Package Store / McCarter Brothers Racing No. 51 Tennessee Homemade Wines / Parkway Liquor Store / MasterSbilt Race Car / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model banked the $3,000 win at the high-banked, 4/10-mile oval.

“We had to really work for the win Saturday night. It was a tough battle against some great drivers, but we came out on top,” Ford said. “Our Jim Beeman Lumber Mastersbilt was on an absolute rail. I could run from top to bottom on the track. It was a dream to drive. Thanks so much to our team and everyone who makes this program possible.”

With last-minute obligations preventing his teammate Mack McCarter from racing, Jensen Ford took the reins of the McCarter Brothers Racing No. 51 for the weekly Super Late Model event at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Saturday evening.

In a field of 22 Late Models, Ford topped time trials before picking up the win in his heat race. Rolling off from the third-position in the 25-lap main event, Jensen quickly moved into the runner-up spot before overtaking Rusty Ballenger on lap 16 en route to the $3,000 victory.

Ballenger, Vic Hill, Adam Ahl, and John Llewellyn completed the Top-5 finishers.

Full results from the event are available at www.VolunteerSpeedway.com .

Ford is tentatively planning to return to Volunteer Speedway this Saturday for another Weekly Racing Series Event.

Josh Putnam Masters The Mag for $10,000 Triumph
Hunt The Front Super Series Doubleheader in Georgia Up Next

Florence, Ala. (05/15/23) – After several near-misses in his career at the Mississippi oval, Josh Putnam finally busted through with a victory at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Saturday night aboard his Zippy Auto Sales No. 212 Randle Chupp Race Consulting / Morris Brothers Construction / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The triumph came in the 20th annual Governor’s Cup, which was sanctioned by the Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series and Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series. Josh had to overcome challenging track conditions for the win.

“Man, I felt like I was screwing up every lap down there on that bottom, but I knew early we were good out on the racetrack,” Putnam said. “I mean I hate that for Wil (Herrington) down there, that was an unfortunate break for him. I don’t know that we’d ever got by him, I think me and him had two good race cars, for what we had here.

“When I got the lead there, I made up my mind I was gonna stay on the bottom and however slow I had to get into the bottom and try to keep my wheels on my race car and keep the driveline in it, that’s what we was gonna do. You know, it paid off.”

After Friday’s opener succumbed to persistent rain, Josh Putnam entered his Zippy Autos No. 212 Super Late Model into battle with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series on Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for the 20th annual Governor’s Cup.

With 45 Late Models packed into the pit area for the rain-shortened program, Putnam stopped the clock third-fastest in his qualifying group before placing first in his heat race.

Grabbing the lead on lap 13 of the feature after leader, Wil Herrington, got turned around, Josh won by more than a four-second margin in the 25-lapper to capture his first win of the season and a $10,000 payday.

He took the checkers ahead of Joseph Joiner, John Henderson, Wil Herrington, and Ryan Crane.

With the win Josh is now tied for the top spot in the series points with Joseph Joiner.

Full results from the event are available at www.HTFSeries.com .

Putnam now turns his attention to a Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series doubleheader in Georgia. Action opens on Friday night at Swainsboro Raceway with a $10,000-to-win program before invading Senoia Raceway on Saturday evening for the $10,044-to-win Roscoe Smith Classic.

Full details on the weekend can be found at www.HTFseries.com .

Hudson O’Neal Tops CFNiA at Lincoln Speedway for $23,023 Victory
Four-Race Swing in Iowa on Deck Starting Tuesday

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (05/16/23) – Hudson O’Neal picked up his sixth win of the year on Thursday night with a $23,023 Castrol FloRacing Night in America victory behind the wheel of his Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Ace Metal Works / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The triumph came at Lincoln Speedway during the second round of the Illinois Speedweek. He added a fifth-place finish at Farmer City Raceway and a sixth-place run at Spoon River Speedway with his only bad luck of the week coming at Fairbury Speedway, where contact with the wall, while running second resulted in a 16th-place finish.

“We were in contention pretty much all four nights against some great fields. We survived lap traffic late to win at Lincoln (Speedway) in what was a really fun race. I got over the cushion and into the wall at Fairbury (Speedway) on Saturday while trying to get to the lead, but we bounced back on Monday night with the rain-delayed event at Farmer City (Raceway) to finish fifth, which got us back to the point lead with Lucas Oil (Late Model Dirt Series),” O’Neal said.

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming week in Iowa. There’s some great tracks there and some great fans. Thanks to this Rocket1 Racing team for giving me a great car every night, and thanks to all our great marketing partners.”

Rocket 1 Racing and driver, Hudson O’Neal, invaded Spoon River Speedway (Canton, IL) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the second edition of the Illinois Speedweek.

With 48 Castrol FloRacing Night in America Super Late Models amassed at the unique 3/8-mile oval, O’Neal raced his way into the $23,023-to-win opener with a runner-up run in his heat race. Rolling off sixth, Hudson challenged for a podium spot early before ultimately settling with a sixth-place finish.

For the second round of the Illinois Speedweek on Thursday at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway, Hudson topped his 24-car group in time trials before placing first in his heat race.

Fending off a hard-charging Brandon Sheppard late, O’Neal stole the lead from Tyler Erb on the 10th circuit and edged Sheppard by 0.879 seconds at the line to secure his sixth win of the season and second-career Castrol Flo Racing Night in America victory.

He earned a $23,023 payday ahead of Sheppard, Jonathan Davenport, Garrett Alberson, and Tim McCreadie.

As the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series debuted at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway on Friday evening for the Farmer City 74, O’Neal secured his spot into the $25,000-to-win A-Main with a flag-to-flag victory in his heat. A rain shower between consolation races postponed the 74-lap feature to Monday, May 15.

Battling the weather again on Saturday at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the FALS Spring Shootout, O’Neal recorded the fastest lap in a field of 43 cars before placing first in his heat race.

Earning the pole for the $30,000-to-win finale, Hudson slipped over the cushion late in the 60-lapper while contending for the win that brought an early end to his night. He was scored 16th in the final rundown.

Locked into the fourth-starting position for Monday’s rain-delayed Farmer City 74, Hudson rallied after flat right-rear tire on the ninth circuit with a fifth-place showing in the 74-lapper. He trailed Brandon Sheppard, Gordy Gundaker, Brian Shirley, and Ricky Thornton Jr. to the checkers.

O’Neal leads the latest LOLMDS standings and is second in the Castrol FloRacing Night in America points.

Full results from the events as well as the latest series standings are available at www.FloSeries.com and www.LucasDirt.com .

Action shifts west to Iowa this week for four races in five days. Action opens on Tuesday and Wednesday with $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America events at Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway and Davenport (Iowa) Speedway.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events are set for Friday and Saturday at 300 Raceway ($12,000-to-win) and 34 Raceway ($15,000-to-win).

Schatz, ace of the Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, MadJax XSeries, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, finished third in his podium outcome, climbing ahead three spots after starting the Morgan Cup preliminary from the outside of row three. The podium performance increased Schatz’ total at Williams Grove Speedway to an incredible 56, also boosting his recent podium tally three in his last four World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series starts.

The ten-time champ sealed third with six laps remaining, scooting by St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu with a slider through turns one and two. Schatz kicked-off the evening program with a runner-up result during heat race competition.

“We made up some spots,” Schatz said. “That’s what you’ve got to do. The guys just keep taking big swings at it. I just can’t seem to get slowed down when I need to slow down, and I can’t get sped up when I need to go. But we’re digging and working on it. We’re doing a great job. Scuba (Steve Swenson), he’s pulling everything out of the hat he can. They’re doing what they can. It’s a decent run here to get us a decent spot.”

Bayston powers ahead in Lincoln’s Gettysburg Clash; Ohio double next on WoO agenda

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 7th | 2428 points

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CARLISLE, Pa. (May 15, 2023) - A competitive weekend in the Keystone State resulted in a top-ten finish for Spencer Bayston and Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based CJB Motorsports, doing so in Lincoln Speedway’s annual Gettysburg Clash on Wednesday evening, May 10. Bayston, the reigning World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year who is currently seventh in the championship standings, finished sixth in his Lincoln top-ten appearances, climbing ahead five positions after starting 11th on the evening grid.

In all, a great effort all around for Bayston at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway, kicking off the program with the second-fastest time in his respective group, followed by a third-place finish during his respective heat race. Bayston’s eventual top-ten would propel his season total to ten in 19 starts.

Unfortunately, the team was unable to repeat success at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, May 12; Bayston finished 18th.

“It was a tough night for us at Williams Grove. Mistakes at a place like that seem to be magnified and it’s tough to get back out of a hole,” Bayston, driver of the TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, said. “To make up significant spots, things really have to fall your way, but they didn’t seem to do that on Friday. We’ll get our chance at redemption when we return to Williams Grove Speedway in July.”

Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a swing through the Buckeye State, first visiting Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday, May 19, followed by a stop at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Saturday, May 20.
