Justin Duty Races to First Win of 2019 Season at Willamette
Mechanical Failure Costs Oregon Racer a Weekend Sweep

Mulino, Oregon (06/03/19) – Justin Duty piloted his Don Frank Floors #15 XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model to his first win of 2019 on Friday night at Willamette Speedway.

“With all of the rain we haven’t got to race much this year, so it felt great to get back in the driver’s seat,” Duty commented. “We had a great night on Friday night, and then on Saturday night we are on our way to another win until a broken valve spring got us while leading. I limped the car home to a third-place finish. It was disappointing to miss out on the win, but it was still a good weekend for us.”

Justin Duty invaded Willamette Speedway (Lebanon, Oregon) on Friday evening, where he was kicking off the two-day Strawberry Cup. After starting the night with a heat race victory, Duty topped Rob Mayea, McLain Beaudoin, Randy Boyd, and Rob Campos in the opening night feature capturing his first win of the season. He pocketed a $1,000 payday for his performance.

The following night after qualifying third fastest, Duty secured his spot into the finale with a heat race victory. He raced to the lead early in the feature and looked to be on his way to his second-straight win before a broken valve spring slowed his momentum in the 40 lapper. He limped his entry home to third-place finish behind Steve Moore and McLain Beaudoin with Thomas Hunzicker and Rob Mayea rounding the Top-5.

Rico Abreu second in Sprint Car World Championship preliminary; Tulare on deck

Dates: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 30th - June 1st
Event: Sprint Car World Championship
Series: Open Event
Track: Mansfield Motor Speedway (Mansfield, Ohio)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finishes (Start):
Thursday: Canceled/Rain
Friday: 2nd (4th)
Saturday: Canceled/Rain

ST. HELENA, Calif. (June 3, 2019) - Nearly attaining his second victory of the 2019 season, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu finished second during Sprint Car World Championship preliminary competition during the recent weekend, slipping up the racing surface just enough to allow fellow Californian, Cory Eliason, by with just six circuits remaining.

Showing strength almost immediately, Abreu earned command from the outside of row two, actually inheriting the lead just before the midpoint of the 30-lapper when race leader, Lee Jacobs, spun all alone between turns one and two. Incidentally, Eliason earned command over Abreu in the exact same corner.

Despite his Friday night outcome creating a slight sense of disappointment, Abreu was proud of his team’s performance at Mansfield Motor Speedway, kicking off the preliminary program on Friday, May 31, with the eighth fastest time during his respective group of qualifiers, all before finishing second during his respective heat race.

Although the $100,000-to-win, Sprint Car World Championship finale was canceled due to poor weather, when the event is eventually rescheduled, Abreu will compete in the evening’s dash, which is reserved for the top performers from all preliminary competition. The dash outcome will align the starting lineup for the first three rows of the $100,000-to-win, Sprint Car World Championship finale main event.

Mother Nature also interfered on Thursday, May 30, eventually forcing the cancellation of the first night of preliminary action.

“Besides Mother Nature causing some problems, it was a solid weekend for our team. We showed speed and consistency and that is most important. I’m proud of everyone involved,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car. “Things have been up and down for us this year, so to put together a solid evening at Mansfield is really motivating. I’m excited to get back to California this weekend and compete at Thunderbowl.”

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2019 campaign with a quick trip back to California, anxious to revisit Thunderbowl Raceway on Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8, for the Faria Memorial, as well as the Peter Murphy Classic make-up.

Abreu will compete in three programs during his two-day visit to Tulare, first joining the Kings of Thunder 360c.i. sprint cars on Friday, then entering the Kings of Thunder 360c.i. program once again on Saturday. In addition, Abreu will join the King of the West 410c.i. sprint cars for their portion of the Peter Murphy Classic on Saturday.

Rico Abreu is a recent winner at Thunderbowl Raceway, actually earning the Peter Murphy Classic/Kings of Thunder opener before action was canceled the following evening due to weather.

Smoke joins Outlaws and earns top-five during Music City Outlaw Nationals finale

Dates: Friday and Saturday, May 31st & June 1st
Event: Music City Outlaw Nationals
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (Nashville, Tenn.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 13th (16th)
Saturday: 4th (5th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 3, 2019) - Despite kicking off the weekend with a 13th place performance, ‘Smoke’ Tony Stewart’s visit to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series hit high gear the following evening, as the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and seven-time sprint car winner in 2019 eventually ended his two-day Music City Outlaw Nationals appearance with a fourth place performance on Saturday evening, June 1.

Resulting in his 19th top-five finish of the 2019 season, Stewart’s fourth place run was the product of an inside-third row starting position, ultimately forced to battle with some of the best in the sport including defending Knoxville Nationals champion, Brad Sweet, and ten-time World of Outlaws champion, and teammate, Donny Schatz.

Stewart kicked off the $25,000-to-win, Music City Outlaw Nationals finale by recording the third fastest time during qualifying time trials, just before winning his respective heat race.

Although Saturday’s result was a vast improvement over his Friday night opener, Smoke did advance three positions on Friday evening in Nashville, climbing ahead from 16th to finish 13th on a tricky and relatively narrow racing surface.

“We enjoyed our visit to Nashville. We have been competitive all over the map this season, and to continue that competitive streak against the World of Outlaws says a lot about this team and our potential,” Tony Stewart said, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car. “Our goal is to transition our competitive streak to All Star action this weekend in New York.”

Tony Stewart will continue his 2019 sprint car campaign with a pair of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 starts in the Empire State, joining the self-owned Series during a visit to Outlaw Speedway in Dundee on Friday, June 7, followed by a Sunday night stop to the state-of-the-art Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport on June 9.

Smoke owns one All Star Circuit of Champions victory thus far in 2019, that occurring at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla, in early February.

Donny Schatz gets third win of season during Nashville’s Music City Outlaw Nationals

Dates: Friday and Saturday, May 31st & June 1st
Event: Music City Outlaw Nationals
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (Nashville, Tenn.)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 1st (3rd)
Saturday: 5th (13th)

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 1st - 3230 points (48-point lead over Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 3, 2019) - Donny Schatz’ visit to the Music City for the inaugural Music City Outlaw Nationals proved to be a complete success, not only earning back-to-back top-five finishes during his two-day visit to the dirt-configured Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, but the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion kicked off the weekend with a $15,000 victory on Friday, May 31.

The victory, the product of an inside-second row starting position, bumped Schatz’ win total to three in 2019, still on top of the World of Outlaws championship standings by a 48-point margin. Impressive enough, the high-dollar win took finesse, utilizing patience to maneuver under race-long leader, Bill Balog, as the pair drag raced off of turn four with just eight circuits remaining.

Although unable to go back-to-back in the Music City, Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, capped his weekend in Nashville with a rally from 13th to finish fifth on Saturday, June 1. The Fargo, North Dakota-native picked his way through the field by utilizing each of the top and bottom grooves, eventually forced to do battle with owner and teammate, Tony Stewart, who finished one position ahead of the familiar No. 15 at the final checkers.

Schatz’ Nashville visit ultimately increased his 2019 top-five total to 15, now with 21 top-ten finishes in 23 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series starts.
“Anytime you go anywhere new it’s always good to get a win,” said Donny Schatz in Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway victory lane. “We’re in an awesome market that we’ve never been to before. My guys gave me a great race car. It’s incredible what they do. It’s great to win the inaugural race here.”

Donny Schatz will continue his 2019 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a Tuesday night stop at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., followed by a two-day trek through North Dakota and Minnesota on Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8. The Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing entry will visit River Cities Speedway and Granite City Speedway, respectively, during his trip to the upper-Midwest.

On a side note, Schatz swept action at River Cities Speedway in 2018, winning World of Outlaws events in mid-June, as well as in mid-August.

Mason Zeigler Claims $8,300 Triumph at Bedford Speedway
25th Dirt Late Model Dream Next Up

Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania (06/03/19) – Less than one week after scoring his first win of 2019, Mason Zeigler again parked his MS Shock Therapy #25z JLE Industries/ Ohiopyle Vacation Rentals/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane. The triumph came on Friday night in Bedford Speedway’s Billy Winn Classic and was worth a cool $8,300.

"We've been coming here for years," Zeigler said in Victory Lane. "It seems like every time we come here we get snake bit. We blow our motor up or blow a tire out. Last week we were really fast won our heat race and broke a J-bar. We drew the pole [tonight], and I knew I just needed to conserve tires and run it as easy as I could. The last 20 laps, I don't think I was even full throttle. I was really holding back, but my crew guys were giving me signals I had a good lead. Anyone in this grandstand could have drove this thing tonight."

Mason Zeigler returned to Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pennsylvania) on Friday evening for the annual Billy Winn Classic, which celebrated the 83rd anniversary of the ½-mile oval.

In a field of 26 cars, Mason laid down the second-fastest lap in his qualifying group behind Gregg Satterlee before finishing second in his heat.

Receiving the pole position for the A-Main, Zeigler led wire-to-wire en route to his second win of the season and an $8,300 payday. Jason Covert, Alex Ferree, Jeff Rine, and Rick Eckert trailed him to the checkers in the 50-lap affair.

Full results from this event can be found at

Mason now turns his attention to winning his first-career crown jewel event. This weekend – June 6-8 – he’ll invade Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway for the 25th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream. Jesse Lowe Lands Lake Cumberland Speedway Victory
Tennessee Doubleheader on the Schedule this Week

Crossville, Tennessee (06/03/19) – A planned off weekend ultimately turned into Jesse Lowe’s eighth win of 2019 on Saturday night. The Tennessee hot shoe parked his Xtreme Pressure Washing No. 5j Gondolas Pizza and Steakhouse/ CVR Race Car Crate Late Model in Victory Lane at Lake Cumberland Speedway.

It was time for our engine to be freshened, so we expected to not have it back in time for the weekend. However, they busted their tails and got it back to us. However, as the race went along our car kept getting better and better and we got to the front,” Deal commented. “We’re learning something new every time that we hit the track with the Late Model.
