Dunn Benson Motorsports and Bobby Pierce Win 3rd Race of Season in Brownstown, Indiana

DUNN, NC (September 24, 2018) - The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team and driver Bobby Pierce picked up their third WIN of 2018 this past weekend on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The Team with driver Bobby Pierce entered the Jackson 100 in Brownstown, IN and started 19th in the field for the 100-Lap feature event. Bobby charged into the top ten by the halfway mark on lap 50 and continued his march to the front in the second half of the event. A caution with just 19 laps left tightened the field back up with Bobby up to 3rd place at this point. In the final 19 laps Bobby moved into 2nd place and chased down leader Johnathan Davenport. The two drivers ran side by side over the final 3 laps with Bobby edging out front on the white flag lap. Bobby would cross the finish line in 1st place after 100 laps just 0.237 seconds ahead of Davenport to earn his 3rd victory of 2018.

"It's been a long year. We have been so close to getting some big wins and to finally get it feels really good," Pierce added. "I have got to thank my dad and Danny Myers. I didn't think what they suggested would work. I think I won a kid mods race here before, but this is obviously very special win, this track has such a great racing history. I know Mr. Lamm (Big C) was looking down on us this weekend and smiling. I can't thank all our sponsors enough that support us this year and make all this come together. I also have to thank my entire family, my girlfriend Maddie, and Kemp Lamm for the opportunity to drive for Dunn Benson Motorsports. Also thanks to all my crew, Danny, Kent, Richard and Wayne for all their hard work each week", stated Bobby Pierce.

So far in 2018 Dunn Benson Motorsports has 3 wins and is in 6th place in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Point Standings with just four (4) point races left this year. The Dunn Benson Motorsports Team and Bobby Pierce will be back in action again this weekend with two more Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt series sanctioned events. The Team visits Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga., on Saturday, September 29th and Rome International Speedway in Rome, Ga., on Sunday, September 30th.

ST. HELENA, Calif. (September 24, 2018) - Rico Abreu’s two-day campaign at the world-famous Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, was up and down, to say the least, highlighting the prestigious 4-Crown Nationals blockbuster with a top-ten performance against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Friday, September 21.

Unfortunately, Abreu’s weekend at The Big E was cut short. After making contact with a stopped car during USAC National Midget Series warm-ups on Saturday night, Abreu was taken to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation. Everything checked out and Abreu was released, cleared to return to competition.

“I appreciate everyone that took the time to reach out to me in one way or another after my crash,” Rico Abreu said, who was piloting a car for Keith Kunz Motorsports during the Midget portion of the 4-Crown Nationals program. “I was cleared and released from the hospital pretty quick. The infield care center recommended that I get further evaluation and I’m glad I did. I’m just really disappointed for my fans. That was the second 4-Crown in a row that I had to leave Eldora Speedway in an ambulance.”

Although ending the weekend on a rough note, Friday’s BeFour The Crowns Showdown appearance with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series ended inside the top ten, actually advancing from 21st to finish 9th after 30 green flag laps. Forced to do things the hard way, the pilot of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Alpinestars/Lucas Oil Products/Rhino Wipe/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprinter started in row 12 after not transferring through his respective heat race, moving on to win the evening’s Last Chance Showdown to qualify for the $10,000-to-win main event.

Currently, Rico Abreu’s upcoming plans remain uncertain. Fans are encouraged to stay alert via social media for continuing updates.

Schatz rebounds for podium at Lernerville after frustrating Eldora visit

Date: Friday, September 21st
Event: BeFour The Crowns Showdown
Series: World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series
Track: Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 13th (25th)

Date: Saturday, September 22nd
Event: Commonwealth Clash
Series: World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series
Track: Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 2nd (3rd)

World of Outlaws Championship Standings (as of 9/24/2018): 1st - 8590 points (218-point margin over second place, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 24, 2018) - Despite a tough start to the weekend, forced to use a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Series provisional starting position on Friday night during the BeFour the Crowns Showdown at Eldora Speedway, the nine-time and defending Series champion rebounded in spectacular fashion, wrapping up the recent weekend with a runner-up finish during Lernerville’s Commonwealth Clash on Saturday, September 22.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car, was forced to utilize a World of Outlaws provisional at The Big E after failing to transfer through his respective heat race and Last Chance Showdown. An excellent example of perseverance, Schatz took advantage of his provisional and advanced 12 spots during his Eldora visit and crossed under the final checkers 13th after starting 25th.

“Nights like that can be frustrating, but you have to stay focused and keep moving forward,” Donny Schatz explained regarding his Eldora Speedway start. “I have a great crew and they didn’t let Friday cause any distractions toward the rest of the weekend. We went to Lernerville and put ourselves in position early. It was a good race, but we came up a little short. We’ll try to do one better at Williams Grove Speedway this weekend.”

After starting third on the feature grid, the result of a third place finish during the evening’s dash, Schatz battled forward during Lernerville’s Commonwealth Clash and eventually took command from the ‘Steel City Outlaw’ Tim Shaffer on lap 22. Schatz held the top spot until lap 28 when Grass Valley, California’s Brad Sweet snuck up on the Fargo-native and stole control, using the bottom groove to dive underneath the defending World of Outlaws champion as the pair battled through turns one and two. Schatz held on to finish second.

Up next on the schedule, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will venture further down the Pennsylvania Turnpike and spend a pair of days at the world-famous Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday and Saturday, September 28 & 29. Friday’s program will award a $10,000 payday, followed by the $56,000-to-win National Open finale on Saturday, September 29. Donny Schatz finished second to David Gravel during the 2017 Williams Grove National Open.

“It’s going to be different pulling into Williams Grove Speedway and not seeing Greg Hodnett. He was a great competitor and an even better person,” Donny Schatz continued. “Our hearts are with Greg’s family and Heffner Racing.”
