BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 10, 2020) - The ‘Steel City Outlaw’ Tim Shaffer powered Tony Stewart Racing to three consecutive top-ten finishes during 360 sprint car competition, most recently capping his 360 Knoxville Nationals effort at the Sprint Car Capital of the World with a seventh-place result on Saturday, August 8. The 2010 Knoxville Nationals champion started fourth on the 360 Nationals grid, earning his way into the $15,000-to-win showstopper with a fifth-place outcome during preliminary competition two nights prior.

Impressive enough, Shaffer set the fourth-fastest time overall during preliminary time trials, eventually rallying from sixth to win his respective heat race. Shaffer’s entire preliminary effort allowed for the second-row starting position on Saturday night.

Setting the tone for his eventual 360 Knoxville Nationals campaign, Shaffer and Tony Stewart Racing made the tow to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, August 1, and joined a stout field of weekly competitors for another round of Knoxville Championship Series action. The decision to enter resulted in success, as Shaffer finished second after starting in the exact same position.

Abreu scores back-to-back top-five finishes during Ironman weekend

Dates: Friday and Saturday, August 7th-8th
Event: Ironman 55
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: 3rd (7th)
Saturday: 4th (5th)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (August 10, 2020) - Rico Abreu and Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 go hand in hand. The two-time Ironman 55 champion put together another solid weekend at the Pevely, Missouri, highbanks, and although the St. Helena, California-native was unable to add a third Ironman 55 triumph to his ever-growing resume, Abreu concluded the weekend with back-to-back top-five finishes highlighted with a third-place outcome during the Ironman preliminary on Friday, August 7.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Priority Aviation/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/Salty’s BBQ/XYZ Machining/Whistle Stop Bar and Grill/Stadelhofer Construction/No. 24 sprint car, started his Friday night podium run from the inside of row four, eventually cruising by Donny Schatz and Logan Schuchart in the same corner to solidify his podium performance.

Although concluding the weekend with a fourth-place result during the $20,000-to-win Ironman 55 finale on Saturday, August 8, Abreu was a force to be dealt with and actually took command of the field for a brief period during the 55-lapper. In fact, Abreu drove to the lead after a restart with 20 laps to go, sliding by Shane Stewart between turns one and two to lock down the spot. Unfortunately, his campaign on top would only last a straightaway, as abrupt contact with the turn three cushion nearly sent Abreu for a wild ride. Abreu ultimately recovered and finished fourth at the final checkers.

“It was a great weekend for our team. I feel like I let my guys down a little bit on Saturday, but we’ll shake it off and move forward,” Rico Abreu said, a five-time sprint car winner in 2020. “The car keeps getting better and better and that’s beginning to show. We’ll do what we can to come out on top on Saturday.”

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with the One And Only at Knoxville Raceway featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The three-day program, kicking-off, officially, on Thursday, August 13, will cap with a $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday, August 15. Abreu is a recent winner at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, capturing a weekly program victory in mid-July.

2020 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: 3850 points | Tied for second (20-points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 10, 2020) - Now within 20 points of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship lead, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz put together another successful weekend with the Greatest Show On Dirt, this time succeeding in accomplishing back-to-back top-five outcomes during Ironman 55 action at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri, highlighted with a fourth-place outcome during the Night Before The Ironman on Friday evening, August 7. The ten-time WoO champion raced as high as third before fading to fourth by feature’s end, forced to do battle with the likes of Logan Schuchart and Rico Abreu.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Advance Professional/Carquest Auto Parts/Technet Professional Automotive Service/Ford Performance/Mobil 1/Sage Fruit/Curb Records/Absolute Automation & Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Digital Ally/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, followed-up his fourth-place result with a fifth-place finish during the 55-lap finale on Saturday, battling within the top-ten the entire distance before settling one position ahead of where he started.

With all results considered, Donny Schatz now owns 22 top-ten finishes in his first 29 World of Outlaws feature starts and sits a mere-20 points behind Brad Sweet for the championship lead. The three-time winner in 2020, most recently scoring the $25,000 Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway, has finished inside the top-five in 15 of those 22 top-ten appearances.

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2020 campaign with the three-day One And Only at Knoxville Raceway on Thursday through Saturday, August 13-15. Certainly no stranger to the Sprint Car Capital of the World, Schatz is a ten-time Knoxville Nationals champion and will seek to add the One And Only prize of $50,000 to his ongoing list of racing accomplishments.
