Zebulon, Georgia (09/17/19) –

“Getting my first-ever Knoxville Raceway win was something really special. I’ve watched guys like Donny Schatz win here time and again, and this place is like Eldora in that you want to know what’s it’s like get to Victory Lane,” Clanton commented. “Saturday night we had a car that was capable of winning the feature, but a mechanical failure took that shot away from us. It was a major bummer, but we still are proud of our weekend. We showed a lot of speed and that was my first win with car owner, Greg Bruening in attedance, so that made it extra special.”

Shane Clanton was one of 55 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries registered for action at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) on Thursday night for the opening round of the 16th annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals. After topping the charts in time trials to pick up the Miller Welders Fast Time Award, Clanton scored a third-place finish in his heat race, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the opening night, preliminary feature.

Sliding ahead of Tyler Erb for the lead on lap 14, Clanton built more than a three second lead in the remaining distance to capture his seventh win of the season and a $7,000 payday. Erb, Ricky Weiss, Darrell Lanigan, and Ricky Thornton Jr. trailed him to the checkers in the 25-lap affair.

Returning on Friday afternoon for another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature, Shane fell one spot short of a transfer spot in his heat with a fourth-place finish. Streaking to a 15-lap consolation victory, Clanton locked into the 20th-starting position for the A-Main. Dropping two spots in the 25-lapper, Shane Clanton ultimately logged a 22nd-place outing.

With his preliminary feature win on Thursday earning him the pole position for the $40,000-to-win finale on Saturday evening, Shane led the first 50 circuits before the intermission on lap 50 for a fuel stop. Losing the top spot to Chris Madden on lap 56, Clanton suffered a broken rear axle six laps later that brought an immediate end to his night. He was credited with a 21st-place finish.

Three-Race WoO Weekend Up Next for Canadian Racer

Headingley, Manitoba, Canada (09/18/19) – Ricky Weiss achieved yet another career first over the weekend. The chauffeur of the Derrick’s Sandblasting No. 7 Kakela Farms/ J&C Properties/ Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Super Late Model streaked to his first-career victory at Knoxville Raceway on Friday night during a prelim for the 16th annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.

“Man, what a dream come true to win at Knoxville. It’s pretty crazy to think that we’ve got our first wins at Knoxville and Eldora all in the same year,” Weiss reflected. “We were real good on both Thursday and Friday night. Then on Saturday night we had a great car for the first half of the event, but after that lap-50, fuel stop we just weren’t as good. We weren’t bad, but if you are going to win at Knoxville against that caliber of competition, you have to be spot on. We’ll take our eighth-place finish and head down the road to the Outlaws events.”

On Thursday night Ricky Weiss trekked to Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) as the 16th annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals came to life. With 55 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors on hand, Weiss locked his spot into the $7,000-to-win preliminary feature with a third-place finish in his heat race. Friday night presented the second round of preliminary action. Ricky laid down the ninth-fastest lap in his time trial group before capturing a 12-lap heat race victory. Starting on the pole for the feature, Weiss overtook Chris Madden for the lead on lap 16 as the duo battled through lapped traffic. From that point Ricky dominated the remaining distance en route to his sixth win of the season and a $7,000 payday. The win was his first-ever at the hallowed, ½-mile oval.

Madden, Josh Richards, Tyler Bruening, and Don O’Neal trailed him to the checkers in the 25-lap affair.

With preliminary finishes from Thursday and Friday’s programs determining the starting grid for Saturday night’s finale, Weiss locked into the third-starting position. With $40,000 on the line, Ricky Weiss battled for a Top-5 finish early in the 100-lapper but ultimately faded after the fuel stop on lap 50 to cross the finish line in the eighth position.

Cade Dillard Doubles Down in Victory Lane at The Dirt Track at TMS
Northeastern WoO Invasion Scheduled For This Weekend

Robeline, Louisiana (09/18/19) – Not once, but twice, Cade Dillard claimed cowboy hats and big checks over the weekend in the inaugural Southern Dirt Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway.

He won the $3,500 prize on Friday night with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Super Late Models in his S&S Fishing & Rental Inc. No. 97 MB Customs/ Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model. He backed it up by claiming the $4,000 triumph on Saturday night in the Modified ranks in his Nichols Stores No. 97 MB Customs/ Stoen Racing Engine entry.

“Wow, what a weekend it was for our team. It was a long weekend, but a good weekend in both divisions,” Dillard noted. “There were a ton of cars there in all of the divisions, and it was definitely some late nights. It was especially challenging running two classes, but my team worked their tails off, and we got two wins to show for it.

“I want to thank all of my great sponsors and supporters for making all of this possible.”

Cade Dillard invaded Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth, Texas) on Friday night, pulling double duty for the opening round of the inaugural Southern Dirt Track Championship. During the same night in the Open Wheel Modified ranks, Cade secured his spot into the main event on Saturday evening with a heat race win from the sixth-starting spot.

On Saturday night in his Super Late Model, Dillard gained one spot in his heat to pick up the victory. Starting the $7,000-to-win finale in the second position, Cade raced in a podium position throughout the finale before crossing the finish line in the runner-up spot behind Chris Brown with Timothy Culp, John Whittington, and Payton Looney rounding out the Top-5.

Bacon Shakin’ Things Up in Missouri and Illinois this Weekend

Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (September 18, 2019) – Seven complete races over the course of just four days in three different cars.

It’s a task that is fitting for the racer carrying “The Macho Man” moniker.

Brady Bacon will take in this weekend’s Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  The Broken Arrow, OK, native will pull double-duty all three nights, piloting the BBR No. 99 Sprint Car in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour winged 360-Sprint Car portion and the Longworth No. 410 in non-wing WAR Sprint Car action.

Bacon will then round out the weekend with Sunday’s USAC Silver Crown “Bettenhausen 100” at Springfield’s Illinois State Fairgrounds as he tries to get the Klatt Enterprises No. 6 entry one step closer to the series’ owner’s championship.

The Hockett/McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway will mark Bacon’s first winged 360-ci Sprint Car outing of the year that has been filled with Non-Wing, Midget, Silver Crown and winged 410-ci competition.

“We were fast with the 360 the few times we ran it last year, we had a win and had good speed both nights at the Short Track Nationals,” Bacon says.  “We have a comfort level going back to it when we got the opportunity.

Bacon looks forward to a change of scenery this weekend in Missouri.

“It’s nice to change it up every once in a while,” Bacon explains.  “It’s a good chance to race with different people that you don’t race with a lot and see a lot of fans that we don’t get to see very often and just get back to a place that I used to race at quite a bit.  And it’s a race in Jesse’s name, that makes it extremely special to me.”

While the Hockett/McMillin Memorial carries the luxury of no points implications, the ante is upped with Sunday’s USAC Silver Crown card at Springfield.

“We have been qualifying well which helps and we’ve made some adjustments from Du Quoin to improve during the race,” Bacon says.  “At the worst I feel like we have been a top-five car each time and have a good chance to win on any night.  Klatt Enterprises is leading owner points, so it’s important to put together a couple of strong finishes in these last two races.”

Bacon enters the weekend after a USAC Sprint Car double in which a sure top-five finish at Terre Haute was cut short by a cut tire and then a Hard Charger effort at Haubstadt.

Gridding Saturday’s feature then at the Terre Haute Action Track, Bacon worked his way up to fourth with ease and had more in his sights when a cut right rear tire brought an end to his streak of 21 consecutive top-ten finishes in USAC Sprint Car competition.

“We were fast all the way, we were up to fourth and could have had second with no problem if not the win,” Bacon explains.  “Then we cut a tire and hit the wall going into one to end our night.”

Bacon and the Hoffman Racing / Mean Green No. 69 got off to a slow start at Haubstadt’s Tri-State Speedway on Sunday but finished the night out in strong form by rallying from 19th to eighth to earn Hard Charger efforts.”

“We weren’t fast early, then we got going in the feature and we were to seventh at one point,” Bacon says.  “Then there was a red flag and we just couldn’t get going after that.”

With an idle weekend for the USAC Sprint Car ranks, Bacon is ready for a healthy dose of ASCS, WAR and USAC Silver Crown action this weekend.

Brady Bacon Racing is bolstered by the support of partners including Mean Green, Fatheadz Eyewear, Imperial Wagyu Beef, Gene Franckowiak, Drivewfx.com, Tel-Star Technologies, B&S Cattle, Lykins Oil, Elliott’s Custom Trailers, Triple X Race Co., Hoosier Tire, XYZ Machine, Factor4, Heath Clips Lawn Care, FK Indy, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, Purple Heart Foundation, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Smiley’s Racing Products, DMI, Walker Filters, ProGlide Coatings, Chalk Stixx, Wilwood Engineering, Lajoie Seats, Smith Precision Products, Allstar Performance, Simpson Racing Products, Driver Websites, Schroth Racing, Saldana Racing Products, KSE Racing Products, King Racing Products, Schoenfeld Headers.

2019 Quick Stats:  87 races, 8 wins, 34 top-fives, 49 top-tens.

Up Next:  Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour (winged 360) and WAR (non-wing) double duty at Lucas Oil Speedway’s “Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial” in Wheatland, MO, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; USAC Silver Crown at Springfield’s Illinois State Fairgrounds on Sunday.

Carney Rolls into Hockett/McMillin Memorial after Three Consecutive Wins

Lonnie Wheatley, EL PASO, Texas (September 18, 2019) – It’s safe to say that El Paso, TX, native John Carney II is going into this weekend’s Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway on a bit of a roll.

Sitting fifth in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points as the series gets back into action with the three-night stand on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Carney rides a wave of three consecutive wins into the weekend.

And he has done it in two different countries with a two-night sweep at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada’s Castrol Raceway on September 6-7 and then a 305-ci Sprint Car score on Saturday night at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway.

Carney made his first journey to Castrol Raceway to drive for Arizona’s Kaylene and Alan Verville and made the most of it with wins on both Friday and Saturday night.

“We started second both nights and led every lap of both features,” Carney says.  “The car handled really well and the motor was strong, everything went about as well as it could have.”

Carney enjoyed his first Canadian outing.

“I liked the track and like the format they used,” Carney explains.  “It’s fun to go do something a little different just to change things up a little bit.”

Carney’s 305-ci effort aboard David Luckie’s No. 45 Sprint Car on Saturday night was a last-minute decision.

“It was an uplanned deal, we just kind of decided that I would drive the car on Saturday night after David drove it on Friday,” Carney explains.

“I kind of wish I had run both nights though, I think I would have won a lot easier on Saturday night,” Carney laughs.  “As it was, I barely got by (Jake) Bubak at the end.  It was the first time in a 305 in quite a while, so it felt good to know I can still get going pretty well in one of those.”

This weekend, it’s back to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition aboard the Sander Construction/South Plains Auto Transport/Mesilla Valley Transportation No. J2 Sprint Car.

And Carney has found the Lucas Oil Speedway to his liking in the past.

“We have had some podiums there and hopefully we can put ourselves in position for more this weekend,” Carney explains.  “Last year, I felt like we could have won this race.  It’s all about getting through the heats and qualifiers and getting into position to win it.”

The Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial gets under way with the first of three full nights of action on Thursday.

John Carney Racing is made possible by the support of invaluable partners including Danny Sander Construction, South Plains Auto Transport, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Jackson Compaction, Vado Speedway Park, CSR Garage, Momentum Racing Suspensions, Performance Plus, Performance Motor Coach, Raider Graphix, MSD Ignition, Joe Hunt Magnetos and Bell Helmets.

Quick Stats:  32 Races, 6 Wins, 18 top-fives, 22 top-tens.

Next Up: Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour “Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial” at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

BROWNSBURG, Ind.
