Brandon Sheppard Finishes Sixth in Silver Dollar Nationals
Ready to Defend Prairie Dirt Classic Crown
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (07/26/21) – Brandon Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing tackled five days of action at I-80 Speedway last week with their Valvoline No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches/ Durham Racing Engines-powered XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model.
The team’s extended racing weekend culminated with a sixth-place finish in the $53,000-To-Win Silver Dollar Nationals.
“It was a long and hot week of racing in Nebraska. We had our ups and downs. Overall it wasn’t a bad week, we just weren’t quite where we needed to be, but it was still great to see a lot of fans and sponsors in Nebraska that we don’t get to see the rest of the year,” Sheppard said. “This weekend is maybe my favorite of the whole year. Fairbury (Speedway) is a special place for me, and we’ve won the Prairie Dirt Classic twice. We’re geared up to go after a third title this weekend.”
Embarking on a five-night swing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard visited I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) on Tuesday afternoon for the opening round of the I-80 Nationals. With passing points determining the starting lineup for the preliminary feature, Sheppard came in second in his heat before placing second in his B-Main. With $7,000 on the line, Brandon was an early retiree from the 30-lapper with a mechanical issue.
For another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature on Wednesday, Brandon followed up the 11th fastest time in his group with a heat race victory. Starting the feature in 15th, Sheppard clawed forward two spots to finish 13th.
With results from Tuesday and Wednesday lining up Sheppard 15th on the starting grid for the $30,000-to-win Al Belt Custom Homes I-80 Nationals A-Main, Brandon improved two positions in the 53-lap affair to place 13th.
On Friday afternoon double heat races to kicked off the Silver Dollar Nationals prelims, and Brandon recorded a pair of third-place finishes.
Locked into the 12th-starting position for Saturday night’s $53,000-to-win A-Main, Sheppard advanced forward six spots in the 80-lapper to bring home a sixth-place finish.

Rocket1 Racing now has their sights set on the upcoming weekend’s 31st annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway. The event kicks off on Friday night with the field being divided into one-of-four $3,000-to-win, prelim features. On Saturday night, B-Mains, the Non-Qualifier’s Race, and the 100-lap $50,000-to-win finale are all on the docket.
While the event wasn’t held in 2020 due to the pandemic, Brandon won the event in 2019 and enters the weekend as the defending champion. He also picked up an event title in 2017.
Entering the weekend, Brandon Sheppard leads the latest series standings by 88 points.

Tyler Erb Nets Richest Career Payday in Nebraska’s I-80 Nationals
Earns Two Wins During I-80 Speedway Mega Event
ST. MARYS, Ohio (07/26/21) – Tyler Erb claimed the $30,000 top prize in the I-80 Nationals on Thursday night, which marked the richest payday of his young career.
One night earlier he won the $7,000 winner’s check in a preliminary feature. With his weekend success he pushed his 2021-win total to nine and moved to fifth in the latest Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS standings) in his Industrial Resourcing Group / M&W Transport No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
“Man it feels awesome to finally get a win in a race that pays $30,000 to win. We’ve been close before, but finally got it done on Thursday. Our car was absolutely flawless for that 53 lapper. I felt good about our chances going into Saturday in the Silver Dollar Nationals, but we just went the wrong with the setup, and the car got to be a handful late in the race,” Erb said. “Overall, I’m still pleased to come out of I-80 with a pair of wins. I can’t thank Eric (Brock), Randall (Edwards), and everyone who supports this team enough for everything they do for me. We’ve got a really great hot rod right now.”
Tyler Erb trekked to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) on Tuesday afternoon to kick off a five-race swing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). With 43 Late Models entered for the opening round of the I-80 Nationals, Erb followed up a seventh-place finish in his heat race with a runner-up finish in his B-Main. With $7,000 on the line in the feature, Tyler passed seven cars in the 30-lap affair to finish 14th.
On Wednesday, Tyler clocked in second fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race. With passing points aligning him second on the starting grid for the preliminary feature, Erb seized the lead on the opening circuit and led all 30 laps to capture his eighth win of the season. He took the checkers ahead of Ricky Weiss, Ricky Thornton Jr., Brandon Overton, and Stormy Scott to pocket $7,000.
With preliminary results from Tuesday and Wednesday placing Erb on the pole for the conclusion of the I-80 Nationals on Thursday, Tyler dominated the 53-lapper to secure a $30,000 payday, the largest of his career. Running nearly uncontested throughout the race, Erb scored his 13th LOLMDS victory of his career, which came over Hudson O’Neal, Brandon Overton, Spencer Hughes, and Ricky Thornton Jr. He finished 5.515 seconds ahead of runner-up O'Neal.
To kick off the 11th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals on Friday, Tyler followed up a fourth-place finish in his first heat with a runner-up finish in his second round.
With passing points setting the grid for the $53,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday night, Erb locked into the ninth-starting position for the finale. Fading outside the Top-10, Tyler slipped back to a 15th-place outing in the 80-lap affair.
Tyler climbed to fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings. Full results from these events are available at www.LucasDirt.com .
The upcoming weekend – July 30-August 1 – has Tyler and Best Performance Motorsports setting their sights on The Hoosier State. On Friday and Sunday night, Tyler will enter $5,000-To-Win programs with the ULTIMATE Heart of America Series at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.), while Saturday night’s plans are still up in the air.

Brandon Overton Wins I-80 Nationals Opener in Nebraska
Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway Up Next
EVANS, Ga. (07/26/21) – Brandon Overton raced to the $7,000 victory in the opening round of the I-80 Nationals last Tuesday night at Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway.
The victory marked the 19th of the season for Overton in his Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model.
“We hit the ground running in Nebraska and things went pretty well the first three nights. We were just missing a little something the last couple of days though and didn’t get the finish we wanted in the Silver Dollar Nationals finale. It’s hard to be bummed with a win and three Top-5 finishes in a week, but we were really hoping to get our first Silver Dollar Nationals title,” Overton said. “We’re all busting our tails though and getting ready to go after our first Prairie Dirt Classic title this week at Fairbury.”
Taking part in a busy week with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Wells Motorsports pilot Brandon Overton trekked to I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.) on Tuesday afternoon for the I-80 Nationals opener.
In a field of 43 cars, Brandon topped the charts in time trials before placing fourth in his heat from the sixth-starting position. With passing points from heat racing action aligning him on the pole for the A-Main, Overton led the first 15 circuits until outside front-row starter Hudson O’Neal stole the top spot. Regaining the lead three laps later, Brandon raced to his 19th win of the season and eighth series triumph. He took the checkers ahead of O’Neal, Ricky Thornton Jr., Kyle Bronson, and Frank Heckenast Jr. to claim $7,000.
For another $7,000-to-win preliminary feature on Wednesday, Overton secured his spot into the A-Main with a fifth-place finish in his heat. Passing three cars in the 30-lapper, Brandon reeled in a fourth-place finish. He followed Tyler Erb, Ricky Weiss, and Ricky Thornton Jr. across the line with Stormy Scott coming in fifth.
With preliminary results from Tuesday and Wednesday setting the grid for the $30,000-to-win I-80 Nationals on Thursday evening, Brandon rolled off on the second row. After fading outside the top-five early, Overton snuck past Spencer Hughes on the final lap to grab a third-place finish. He trailed Tyler Erb and Hudson O’Neal with Spencer Hughes and Ricky Thornton Jr. rounding out the Top-5.
On Friday for a pair of heat races to get the 11th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals underway, Overton recorded a fifth-place finish in his first round before placing third in his second heat.
Earning the 18th-starting position for the $53,000-to-win finale on Saturday via passing points, Brandon gained three spots to finish 13th.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 26, 2021) - Although not victorious, ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and current title contender, Donny Schatz, was all over the top-five during the recent World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series stretch through the Keystone State, kicking things off with a runner-up score in Lernerville Speedway’s Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup on Tuesday, July 20, followed by fourth and third-place finishes, respectively, during Williams Grove Speedway’s annual Summer Nationals on Friday and Saturday, July 23-24.
Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, started sixth in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup and advanced four spots in 40 laps, battling with Aaron Reutzel and David Gravel late before attempting to chase down Brad Sweet for the win. Unfortunately, Schatz’ time ran thin, forced to settle for second and missing an eighth Silver Cup crown.
After a two-spot jump from sixth to open Summer Nationals action on Friday, Schatz turned the corner and finished one spot better during the weekend finale on Saturday, leading the first 20 circuits of the $20,000-to-win program before losing command to eventual winner Brent Marks, then second to Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will return to the state of New York for the first time in three years during the coming weekend. The doubleheader takes The Greatest Show On Dirt to Ransomville Speedway on Friday, July 30, then to Weedsport Speedway on Saturday, July 31.
Donny Schatz will enter the New York double fourth in the World of Outlaws championship chase, padded by one victory and 35 top-ten finishes in 49 Series starts. Including the trio accomplished in Pennsylvania, the Fargo, North Dakota-native has finished inside the top-five on 26 separate occasions.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Grinding Out the Georgia Portion of the Southern Nationals
MARYVILLE Tenn. (Jul 26) Rain at Needmore Speedway cut the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Georgia swing down to three races with McIntosh coming away with an eighth -place finish as West Georgia, 11th at Screven, second at Rome and the Series points lead heading into Tri-County Race Track on Tuesday night.
Donald McIntosh and BMS tired of fighting a contrary race car took the engine out of it and put it in McIntosh’s backup car that had a new body and deck on it and took that combination to West Georgia Speedway
In a hot lap wreck the new body and deck were torn off the car. They beat out one side and qualified seventh. They beat out the other side of the car for the feature and ran eighth.
Needmore was next on the schedule, but rain took care of it. So they headed to Screven where they qualified 12t. After having a flat tire in the feature they were able to pull off an 11th place finish.
At Rome on Sunday, they rolled out the backup car. The car that Tommy Kerr has been driving. They qualified and started third and finished second.
“We have been at it hard. This is a long hot grind even if you are running well and until the last race at Rome we haven’t been doing much of that,” grimaced David Bryant. “Kerr’s car has a perfect motor for the next three races but might need to make a change before Tazewell and Volunteer.
We might have found the car to finish up the rest of the season with, if we can keep it in one piece.”
The next race is Tuesday at Tri-County Race Track followed by a day off and then the final four events of the series that finishes up at Volunteer Speedway on Sunday.
Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Stowers (CAT) Machinery Corp., Blount Excavating, Massey Electric, Turner Hydraulics, Ole Ben Franklin Motors and The Wine and Spirits Cellar.
BMS races Rocket XR1 Chassis. Power is provided by Vic Hill Racing Engines with Dyer’s Top Rods, Driven Racing Oil, Waterman Fuel Pumps, VP Race Fuels and starting power from Go Lithium batteries. Gauges and wiring harnesses from QuickCar. Carbon Fiber drive shafts from Fastshafts. The shocks are Penske Racing Shocks with chassis and suspension components from TWM, Brakes from Wilwood and springs from Hyperco. Tires are Hoosier Performance Tires from Hoosier Tires South.
