Rocket1 Racing Doubles Down in WoO Weekend Winner’s Circle
Bookends Four-Race Weekend with Wins at Orange County and Eriez
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (08/23/21) – Brandon Sheppard parked the Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches / Durham Racing Engines-powered XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model in Victory Lane twice over the four-race weekend.
He won on Thursday night at New York’s Orange County Fair Speedway and then wrapped up the swing with another victory at Pennsylvania’s Eriez Speedway. Both wins were worth $10,000 and allowed him to extend his advantage atop the latest World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series standings.
"It's really cool, a new track, to get a win here," Sheppard said after leading all but five laps in his Thursday night debut at Orange County Fair Speedway. "It's pretty awesome. Any time you can win in New York, that's a longways from my home, so it's pretty cool. My right-rear tire was going down the last couple of laps there, and I was really laid over on the right rear. Man, he (Max Blair) definitely made me work for it. That was a heckuva fun race, and I've gotta say thanks to Max for driving me really clean there. It was a lot of fun to race with him.”
On Sunday night Sheppard notched his 75th career win in WoO competition at Eriez Speedway, which leaves him just three triumphs behind the all-time series win leader, Josh Richards.
“It’s really awesome to get our 75th Outlaw win,” Sheppard said. “I’m definitely proud of my guys, proud of my team. This team that Mark (Richards) put together here has just been a dream come true for me over the past five years, so it means a lot to me to get to drive this thing. Our team is finally starting to its stride, so hopefully we can end the year with a lot of wins.”
Kicking off a four-race eastern swing with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series, Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard trekked to Orange County Fair Speedway (Middletown, N.Y.) on Thursday afternoon to return to competition after a week off.
With 22 Late Models on hand, Sheppard’s eight-lap heat race win promoted him into the redraw. Receiving the pole position for the A-Main, Brandon relinquished the top spot early but stole the lead on the fifth lap after Rick Eckert suffered mechanical issues. Holding off Chris Madden and Max Blair in the waning laps as his right-rear tire was deflating, Sheppard limped to his sixth win of the season, which came over Blair, Tyler Bruening, Stewart Friesen, and Dan Stone. He earned $10,000 for his 74th career series victory.
Battling for another $10,000 payday on Friday evening at Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Brandon secured his spot into the feature with a heat race victory. Starting in third, Sheppard slipped as far back as eighth but regained some momentum late in the 40-lapper to cross the line in sixth.
The following night at Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio) for the Battle at the Border, Sheppard topped the 28-car field in time trials before picking up a heat win. Losing one spot in the 40-lap feature, Brandon notched a third-place finish. He followed Kyle Larson and Ryan Gustin across the line with Tyler Bruening and Colton Flinner rounding out the Top-5.
For the weekend finale on Sunday at Eriez Speedway (Erie, Pa.), Brandon posted a runner-up finish in his heat race, sending him into the redraw. Rolling off on the pole, Sheppard wrestled away the lead on the fifth lap and ran the rest of the race virtually uncontested to capture his seventh win of the season and 75th career World of Outlaws triumph. He pocketed $10,000 for his winning performance.
With a pair of wins, Sheppard extended his lead over Chris Madden by 158 in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.

Ashton Winger Sweeps Final Two 2021 Hell Tour Events in Michigan
Claims $10,000 Victories at Tri-City & Merritt
HAMPTON, Ga. (08/23/21) – Ashton Winger ended his freshman year on DIRTcar Nationals trail with a bang. The Georgia racer won the final two races of the miniseries at Michigan’s Tri-City Motor Speedway and Merritt Speedway.
He collected $10,000 for each victory in his E-Z-GO No. 12 Dekalb / Johnny Doan Plumbing/ Keyser Manufacturing/ XR1 Rocket Chassis / Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model. With the triumphs his 2021-win total grew to eight.
“The way we’re running right now, I almost wish this deal was just getting started,” the 21-year-old Winger said following Saturday night’s victory at Merritt Speedway. “The good thing about winning this one is we can celebrate it a while. When you run every day like we do on this deal, people forget about who wins pretty quick. Finishing it up the way we did, winning both of these last two races, it’s going to be something cool to look back on. I’ve had a blast, but now I’m excited to head back to Georgia. I even get to race at my home track (Senoia Raceway) this Saturday, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
Ashton Winger invaded Butler Motor Speedway (Butler, Mich.) on Wednesday afternoon, where he entered his Johnny Doan Plumbing No. 12 Late Model into battle for the final week with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals.
After topping the 24-car field in time trials, Winger outdueled Rusty Schlenk in his heat race to pick up the win. Receiving the third-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main via the redraw, Ashton nosed ahead of Devin Moran late in the 40-lapper to secure a runner-up finish. He followed Bobby Pierce across the line with Moran, Mitch McGrath, and Rusty Schlenk rounding out the Top-5.
On Thursday at I-96 Speedway (Lake Odessa, Mich.) with another $5,000 prize on the line, Ashton came in third in his heat before passing four cars in the feature to register a third-place finish.
The following night at Tri-City Motor Speedway (Auburn, Mich.), Winger’s 10-lap heat race win promoted him into the redraw. Rolling off third, Ashton tracked down early pacesetter Frank Heckenast Jr. on the 18th circuit and stole the lead on an ensuing restart. He turned back Devin Moran’s late charge to capture his seventh win of the season and a $10,000 prize. Moran, Heckenast Jr., Tanner English, and Donna Marcoullier trailed him to the checkers.
To wrap up his first year on tour with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals, Ashton stopped at Merritt Speedway (Merritt, Mich.) on Saturday evening. With a heat race win sending him into the redraw, Winger slipped back to second on the start but began closing in on fellow front-row starter Travis Stemler on lap 15. Rocketing past the leader two circuits later, Ashton streaked to his second win as many nights over Devin Moran, Stemler, Chad Finley, and Tanner English. He earned $10,000 for his eighth win of the season along with the $2,000 for the weekly points title.
He was also awarded a $11,600 payday for finishing second in the DIRTcar Summer Nationals point standings.

The team has a single event on the schedule for this week with a Saturday night trip to Senoia (Ga.) Raceway for the Mike Head Jr. Memorial. The Southern All-Star Dirt Racing Series event posts a $5,054 top prize.
Back in May, Winger claimed a $4,044 win at the Georgia oval with a Southern All-Star triumph.

2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Fourth | 7484 points [238 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 23, 2021) - Officially bumping his all-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series win total to 301, ten-time Series champion Donny Schatz put Fargo fans on their feet Saturday night at Red River Valley Speedway, clinching his second World of Outlaws victory of the season with a rally from fourth in 22 of 30 laps. Schatz, who lives just minutes from Red River Valley, drove around Hanover, Pennsylvania’s Logan Schuchart to take the race lead, using the very topside of turn four to secure the point, and ultimately $10,000.
“Winning at home is big, and it’s important,” Schatz said to a raucous crowd on Saturday night. “I mean, look at this crowd. You guys are incredible. It’s cliche, but I can’t thank you guys enough for the support, it means a lot to me. I’m 25 years into this deal, and I’m feeling better every day. I don’t know that I have another 25, but I know that I’ve still got a lot left in me.”
Schatz secured his place on the Red River Valley grid by way of heat race victory, finishing fourth in the evening’s dash shortly thereafter.
In total, Schatz owns 23 World of Outlaws wins in his home state of North Dakota, six of which at Red River Valley.
“We haven’t had the greatest year, but we’re past 300...we’re onto the 301, and now we want 302,” Schatz mentioned. “We’re hitting on all cylinders right now. This is a new Ford powerplant under the hood. Things have been way better with this. It’s a lot easier for me to drive, and we can do the things that we couldn’t earlier this year. Hats off to Ford Performance, and every single one of our partners for sticking with us. We’ve lacked speed at the end of the races, and these past few weeks there’s been a huge difference. I’m feeling really good going forward.”
Schatz, pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car, capped his three-race turned two-race weekend with another top-five outcome, this time finishing fourth at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, on Sunday, August 22.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will enjoy two days off before returning to North Dakota this Wednesday, August 25, for a makeup date at Grand Forks’ River Cities Speedway. The race was originally slated for Friday, August 20. After that, The Greatest Show on Dirt will head to Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway on Friday, August 27, followed by a stop at South Dakota’s Black Hills Speedway on Sunday, August 29. Schatz will enter the three-state swing fourth in the Series title chase trailing the championship lead by 238 markers.
