FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Donald McIntosh and Lucas Lee Claim Iron-Man Hangover Season-Opening Victories at 411 Motor Speedway By Michael Despain SEYMOUR, TN – December 30, 2017 – The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series kicked off their 2018 campaigns on Saturday at 411 Motor Speedway in the 8th Annual Hangover event and Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. would take the lead on lap eighteen and visit victory lane for the third time in the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series sanctioned event. Lucas Lee of Paris, Tenn. would lead all twenty-five laps to claim the victory in the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series feature contest. The Super Late Model win for McIntosh came in his debut in the Doug Stevens built Motion Control Suspensions sponsored #7 Double O Seven Chassis. Lee would score the Modified victory aboard the Brucebilt Performance/Wiles Driveshafts/45 Race Shop/Tank Lines of Paris sponsored #12 Brucebilt Chassis. The start of the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com 8th Annual Hangover 40 would see Cory Hedgecock take the initial race lead, with Donald McIntosh, Will Roland, Tyler Bare, and Casey Roberts giving chase. The first of three caution flags would appear on lap two when Chicky Barton looped his machine in turn four. The restart would see Hedgecock maintain the lead over McIntosh, while Bare would slip past Roland for third, with Roberts immediately pressuring Roland for the fourth position. Roberts would capture the fourth spot from Roland on lap four, with the second caution of the race waving on lap five when Jaden Frame would spin entering turn three. This restart would see Hedgecock and McIntosh maintain the first and second spots, while Roberts would challenge Bare for the third position and take the spot on lap six. The final caution of the event would appear on lap nine when defending series champion Carder Miller would slow on the frontchute with a broken water pump on his mount. On what would be the final restart of the contest, Hedgecock would hold the lead, with McIntosh dogging him from the runner-up slot, while Roberts maintained third. The lead trio would start working lapped traffic on lap fifteen and McIntosh would turn up the pressure of his challenge one circuit later and would take the race lead on lap eighteen. Roberts would immediately challenge Hedgecock for second and would claim the position on lap nineteen. As the event passed the halfway mark, Roberts would close in the race leader as the pair would work heavier traffic beginning on lap twenty-five and Hedgecock would close in on the front pair as well, with the lead trio battling almost three-wide at times for the lead on laps twenty-eight and twenty-nine. Roberts would duck under McIntosh heading toward turn one on lap thirty, but would run out of race track and have to stab the brakes, causing his machine to get completely sideways entering turn one and allowing Hedgecock to roll to the outside past Roberts and retake the second position. McIntosh would encounter a large group of slower cars to have attempt to lap by lap thirty-five and would maneuver through the slower traffic and see the checkered flag first, with Hedgecock taking second and Roberts settling for third. Bare and Roland would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Ryan King, Kenny Collins, nineteenth starting Aaron Ridley, Billy Ogle, Jr. (who recovered from a flat tire on the lap two caution), and Jaden Frame (who restarted at the rear of the field after spinning on lap five). Lucas Lee would take the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified feature event and survive five caution periods, with the last caution claiming then third-place running and defending series champion Shon Flanary with mechanical issues, to drive to the race win. Tarheel state native Christian Thomas would drive to runner-up honors in the contest, with Ervin Vance finishing the final podium position in third. Eighth place starter Chase King would finish fourth, while Amos Bunch would recover from a spin on lap nine to finish fifth. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Austin Francis (who also was part of the lap nine caution), Wayne James (who would run in the top five during first seventeen laps of the event), Clayton Miller, fourteenth place starting Ernie Gingrich, and fifteenth place starting Josh Brock.
