FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Donald McIntosh Grabs Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series Payday at Rome Speedway By Chris Tilley, Series Publicist ROME, GA (May 26, 2019)—Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. was set on cruise control during Sunday’s Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series by Sunoco Race Fuels event at Rome Speedway. The driver of the Blount Motorsports-owned entry claimed his third series victory of the season while also claiming his sixth-career series payday. McIntosh drove the Blount Excavating, Ole Ben Franklin Motors, Stower’s CAT, Massey Electric and Food City-sponsored Vic Hill Racing Engines-powered Rocket Chassis to the $5,000 event victory. Polesitter Donald McIntosh and overall fast time driver Ricky Weiss brought the field down to the green flag and the 50-lapper was underway with McIntosh grabbing the point early on. McIntosh was never really challenged for the lead but great battles during the main event for second between eventual runner-up Casey Roberts, Tanner English and Ricky Weiss while running second before he brought out the caution on the 27th circuit. McIntosh would go on for the payday while Casey Roberts finished second, first-timer to Rome Speedway Tanner English finished third, series points leader Dale McDowell was fourth and Ricky Weiss rallied from the tail to finish fifth. Four cautions slowed the main event. The first caution flew on lap-21 as Matt Dooley slowed in turn four. The next yellow flag came out on lap-27 as Ricky Weiss slowed on the backstretch while running second. The third yellow flag came out on lap-36 as Jason Croft slowed in turn four with a right-rear flat tire. The final caution would be on lap-40 as Forrest Trent came to a stop at the top of turn two. The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels returns to action on Monday May 27th at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. racing 52 laps during the Seventh Annual Scott Sexton Memorial event paying $10,052-to-win. This will be the final points race of the Spring Nationals season. This event will be co-sanctioned with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series by DirtonDirt.
