Tyler Stevens Notches Pair of CCSDS Runner-Up Finishes
Extends Lead in Midwest Sheet Metal CCSDS Rookie Standings

SEARCY, Ark. (06/06/22) – Weekend COMP Cams Super Dirt Series action found Tyler Stevens enjoying a successful debut of his brand-new W&W Timber / James A. Rogers Excavating No. 2 Stallion Transportation Group / MB Customs / Mod Co Racing Engine Super Late Model.

In two events, Stevens recorded runner-up finishes to go along with a fast time award and a pole award.

“I was really impressed at just how good of a piece that this new MB Customs Race Car is. A pair of seconds for the weekend against these guys is absolutely nothing to hang our heads over,” Stevens said. “I’ve got to make some tweaks in our tire program. We just can’t get going on short runs. Takes us 8-10 laps to get rolling. Other than that, I couldn’t ask for a better car. As always Joshua Ivey busted his tail all weekend, and I couldn’t have done it without him! We’ll take this coming weekend off and we will be ready for the Mag!”

Tyler Stevens returned to action for the first time in over a month on Friday night with a trip to Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Ark.) for the $5,000-to-win COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model Hillbilly event.

Tyler hit the ground running with his brand-new MB Customs Race Car. He set fast time over the 31 entries in Mark Martin Automotive Qualifying, and then raced to a victory in his heat race to lock into the second-starting spot for the feature.

Stevens pursued fellow-front-row starter Brian Rickman for the duration of the event before crossing the finish line in second behind Rickman with Kyle Beard, B.J. Robinson, and Billy Moyer Jr. completing the Top-5 finishers.

Weekend action continued on Saturday night for TLP MOtorsports as the team traveled south to I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Ark.) for the $5,000-to-win Rockabilly 45. Twenty-seven Super Late Models entered the program, and Tyler's night began by setting the fourth-fastest time in qualifying, followed by a heat race win.

With his heat race win he locked into the pole position for the 45-lap feature. Racing in the Top 3 throughout the finale, Stevens crossed the finish line in the second spot for his second runner-up finish in as many nights.

Tyler continues to lead the latest Midwest Sheet Metal Rookie of the Year standings with the tour and is fifth in the overall series standings.

Stevens will be idle this weekend before returning to action on June 17-18 at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) with the 2022 edition of the Clash at The Mag. XR SAS Action at Columbus Speedway Up Next

His latest conquest came in XR Southern All Star action at Kentucky’s Mountain Motorsports Park.

"These guys that work on this car, they just keep digging and they keep putting it back together when I tear it up and keep pushing me along," Putnam said. "Friday night the car was flawless, and we got the win. We were pretty good on Saturday too but a broken fan blade knocked us out of the feature. We’ll head to Columbus (Speedway) this Saturday and go after another big check."

Josh Putnam stormed to his third-straight victory on Friday night with a $4,000 XR Southern All Star (SAS) Super Late Model triumph at Mountain Motorsports Park (Whitesburg, Ky.).

Putnam swept the night's Walter Combs Memorial action by winning his heat race, and then wiring the field in the feature to register his second XR Southern All Star (SAS) win of the year and fourth of his career.

He was followed across the line by Tyler Carpenter, Billy Franklin, Matt Dooley, and Stephen Breeding.

On Saturday night the action shifted to Richmond (Ky.) Raceway, where a $7,500 winner's check was on the line for the XR SAS contingent in the Finn Watson Memorial. Via prelim action Putnam earned the fourth-starting spot for the feature. He ran in the Top 5 for much of the feature before retiring on lap 46 with a broken fan blade.

Schatz elbows up for podium at River Cities; Knoxville Raceway doubleheader next

Date: Friday, June 3rd
Event: 1st Leg of the Northern Tour
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 3rd (4th)

2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Sixth | 3180 points [148 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 6, 2022) - Recording his 26th top-five finish in 28 Series starts at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and nearby Fargo native, Donny Schatz, made his return to home dirt extra special on Friday night, June 3, ultimately cashing in for a podium finish and his 16th top-ten result of the season.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Digital Ally, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, finished third in his podium appearance, battling as high as second during one point of the contest. Defending World of Outlaws champion, Brad Sweet, would eventually slip by Schatz for second, all doing their best to master a juiced up River Cities.

Schatz and TSR were scheduled to make two starts with the Greatest Show On Dirt this weekend, but Mother Nature stepped in and ruined the Sunday night party at Huset’s Speedway forcing a postponement until Wednesday, June 22; the $100,000-to-win Huset’s Speedway High Bank Nationals will launch the following evening, Thursday, June 23.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever been on two wheels that many times in my life,” Schatz joked on the unique characteristics of the track. “There’s no denying this place had a lot of character tonight, I think Larry [Hillerud] would’ve been smiling down on that one. That’s the nature of the beast, though, not much surprises me on the road anymore. This team keeps digging and we keep putting the results together. The more we show up on this podium, we’ll eventually get back into victory lane.”

ON DECK:
Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, June 10-11. Dubbed the Brownells Big Guns Bash, the two-day showcase, a perfect preamble for the forthcoming 61st running of the prestigious Knoxville Nationals, will award a pair of $10,000 top prizes. Schatz is certainly no stranger to big money at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, earning ten Knoxville Nationals championships including eight under his tenure with Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing.
