FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
McIntosh Solid in WoO Run at Smoky Mountain
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 9) Donald McIntosh enjoyed a little bit of home cooking as he laid down a solid run in the WoO Tipoff Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway Saturday night.
McIntosh finished third in the fourth heat, started 12th and finished a strong fifth in the 60-lap event.
“We had a good car, Donald did a good job and we had a good night. We are racing better and smarter,” said David Bryant. “There are so many variables and things changes so rapidly that you hate to say you have it figured out so I won't, but we are gaining on it and are looking forward to getting the season going."
Some late changes to the car gave McIntosh a car he could run wherever he needed or wanted to on the track. He had Brandon Sheppard passed for fourth, but a caution came out and negated the pass. He ended up settling for a fifth place finish.
“It was a good night. The combination of the new Rocket X1R and Vic Hill’s 434 engine is really good and is going to be really good for us,” grinned McIntosh. “I’m really excited moving forward.”
Tommy Kerr’s first race of the 2020 season didn’t turn out, as he would have liked, as he didn’t find his rhythm until it was too late.
“I had a good car, but the driver was rusty. By the time I got back into the groove a little bit I was in the last chance race and it was too late,” said Kerr. “Team wise we had a good night as both cars were good and Donald did a great job.”

(March 9, 2020) - Despite a slight hiccup on Friday that forced the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion to restart at the tail of the field, Tony Stewart’s weekend in Louisiana was filled with success, ending his two-day, Bayou State Sprint Car Nationals campaign at Chatham Speedway with back-to-back top-ten outcomes, highlighting each of his United Sprint Car Series (USCS) starts with a fifth place performance on Saturday, March 7.
