For Immediate Release “Rain washed away our original plans, and I’ve really been looking for some speed here lately, so we decided to head to Battleground Speedway to do some testing,” Theiss commented. “The night went really well, and while I think we still have work to do, we were able to definitely make some gains. Thanks to my team and all of our awesome sponsors. Hopefully, now that we’ve got the first win out of the way we can knock down some more pretty soon.” Improving one spot in his heat race, Theiss landed a runner-up finish, which secured him a front-row starting spot for the main event. Taking control of the lead early, Austin Theiss cruised to his first win of the season in the feature. Theiss will again be in action in his home state this weekend. On Saturday night he’ll invade Cotton Bowl Speedway (Paige, Texas) to compete in the 2018 season opener for the Southern Texas Late Model Series. Contact: Shawn Miller Bruce Jr. Progresses Throughout Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (April 9, 2018) - Tony Bruce Jr. showed improvement throughout the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Bruce Jr. and car owner Mike Hayashi opened the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com doubleheader on Friday by placing fifth in a heat race. "I got tight on the first lap and washed up out of the groove," Bruce Jr. said. "I fell in line after that. It really put us behind the eight ball." Bruce Jr. advanced from fourth to third place in a B Main to earn a transfer into the back of the main event, but he pulled off the track a few laps in and was credited with a 23rd-place finish. "We were starting in the back on a track was so heavy and tough to pass on," he said. "Instead of wearing the equipment out we decided to play it smart by pulling into the pits early." The team returned to the oval on Saturday, but the finale didn't start much better. Bruce Jr. picked up a position to finish sixth in a heat race, which again relegated him to a B Main. This time he quickly powered into the runner-up position and maintained it to garner a transfer into the 20 th starting position for the 30-lap A Main. "The track was tough to pass on early," he said. "In the B Main it started to widen out and in the A Main it was really racy. We advanced, but I felt like we tightened the car up too much and struggled with it in the A Main. We were still able to advance and come out of there with a decent finish." Bruce Jr. maneuvered to a 14th-place result. "Thanks to Mike for the opportunity," he said. "We'll keep working at this whenever we get the opportunity to race together." Contact: Shawn Miller Rilat Passes 25 Cars During ASCS National Tour Doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (April 9, 2018) - Travis Rilat passed a combined 25 cars last weekend during the two Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com A Mains at Texas Motor Speedway. Rilat kicked off the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals by charging forward from seventh to third in a heat race on Friday, but a mechanical problem midway through the race relegated the BDS Motorsports entry to the pits early and the team was unable to start a B Main. That forced Rilat to use a provisional to line up 23rd in the 25-lap main event. "We had a fast car all weekend," he said. "It was unfortunate to have a failure like we did because otherwise we would have been set up well. If we'd have been able to finish the heat we'd have potentially been in the top few starting positions for the main event." Rilat did his best to overcome the heat race problem as he charged from 23 rd to an 11th-place finish, which was the second-most cars passed in the A Main. The team returned to the track on Saturday, when Rilat finished where he started in a heat race - fourth - and a B Main - second. That lined him up on the inside of the ninth row for the 30-lap feature. "The way the track was for the heats there wasn't a lot of passing and everybody was pretty fast," he said. "We made the car better throughout the night and it was really good in the A Main." Rilat maneuvered through the field to post a fourth-place finish, which marked his first top five of the season. He earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars. "Those are the results we're looking for," he said. "We've had the speed and Bryan (Sundby) has provided great cars. If we can eliminate the problems we'll be in good shape." Rilat is scheduled to compete this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the 65th annual Season Opener. Contact: Shawn Miller Swindell Captures Two Podiums During Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (April 9, 2018) - Sammy Swindell posted a pair of podium finishes last weekend during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals. Swindell's third-place finish on Friday and runner-up result on Saturday during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway give him and car owner A.G. Rains six straight top fives. "I keep getting these seconds and thirds," Swindell said. "I'd like to have a bunch of wins now. But if we keep knocking at the door we'll get them." The event opened on Friday with Swindell finishing where he started - second - in a heat race. That ranked 10th in overall points to lock him into the 10th starting position in the A Main. "It all went pretty good," he said. "We started back a ways and were able to come forward. I felt like we had one of the best cars. Everything went pretty smooth. The goal was to try to win the race and if we couldn't then try to make sure we can get locked in." Swindell rallied to a third-place result, which earned him one of the lock-in positions to Saturday's main event. Swindell started the event finale on the outside of the second row. "I think we had an issue," he said. "The car wasn't easy to drive so there was something that we missed or got messed up in the race early on. If I got out of the gas it wanted to almost spin out or get real loose. It didn't have the forward drive. It was still good enough to run good laps and keep taking advantage of other guy's mistakes. "The car has always been really good as the race goes on. It did get a little better, but it wasn't what I would like to have. When we get the car cleaned up and in the shop we'll check over everything." Swindell's second-place result tied his season-best finish and marked his fourth podium of the season. He plans to take this weekend off before resuming competition on April 20 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., and April 21 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., for the Spring Classic with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
