Brandon Overton Grabs Two More Southern Nationals Win
David Breazeale Continues to Lead WoO Rookie of the Year Battle

Calera, AL (07/31/18) – It was a busy week for Franklin Enterprises drivers Brandon Overton and David Breazeale. Overton piloted his Franklin Fence & Erosion Control #76 BCI Asphalt/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals action, where he claimed two more wins to bring his overall total to five.

Meanwhile, David Breazeale continued his pursuit of the Rookie of the Year title with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series as he battled through the upper Midwest in his Good Hope Land and Timber Management #54 XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

On Tuesday night both drivers of the Franklin Enterprises team were in action with David Breazeale at Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) and Brandon Overton at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia).

In a field of 23 World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series entries, Breazeale jumped up one spot in his heat, scoring a third-place finish. Earning the ninth-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, David dropped two positions logging, an 11th-place finish.

For the seventh round of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, Overton registered the third-fastest time in his qualifying group, earning him the sixth-starting position for the A-Main. With $3,500 on the line, Brandon suffered a broken oil pump on the second lap of the feature, ending his night early.

The following night at Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee), Brandon locked his spot into the main event with the third-fastest time in his group. Overtaking Casey Roberts and Michael Chilton for the top spot on lap 10, Overton paced his way to his fourth win of the season over Casey Roberts, Dale McDowell, Michael Chilton, and Craig Vosbergen. He was awarded a $3,500 payday for his efforts.

On Friday night Franklin Enterprises saw both David Breazeale and Brandon Overton in action in two different events. Drawing 29 Super Late Models to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series sanctioned event, Overton was able to record the third fastest time in his qualifying group before steady rain moved in and washed out the night.

David Breazeale was piloting the Franklin Fence #54 Super Late Model entry at Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series-sanctioned, 29th Annual Prairie Dirt Classic. With 61 cars on hand for four rounds of preliminary features, David laid down the 20th-fastest time in his group, which earned him the 10th-starting position for his respective $2,500-to-win feature. Losing one spot in the 25-lapper, Breazeale logged an 11th-place finish.

On Saturday night Overton stopped at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) for the Southern Nationals Series finale. Holding his spot in his 10-lap heat, Brandon scored a third-place finish, positioning him eighth on the starting grid for the A-Main. Overtaking Michael Chilton for the lead on lap-31 after a restart, Overton led for the next 8 circuits until Chilton regained the top spot while battling through lap-traffic. Sliding past Chilton on lap-50, Brandon Overton held the lead for the remaining three laps, capturing his fifth win of the season over Donald McIntosh, Michael Chilton, Casey Roberts, and Dale McDowell. He pocketed a $10,000 prize for his late-race heroics.

Brandon wrapped up the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series point standings in third after his performance on Saturday.

“We would’ve loved to have won the championship, but we are definitely happy with five wins right out of the box with this team,” Overton said. “I’m really excited about what we have in place here. We’re going to take a week to get ready for the North/South 100 week, and see if we can’t go up there and make some noise.”

Returning on Saturday night for his consolation event at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, Breazeale finished eighth in his B-Main, forcing him to rely on a provisional to start the 29th Annual Prairie Dirt Classic finale. Starting 28th on the grid, David gained eight spots to record a 20th-place finish after drawing a caution on lap-31.

On Monday night, WoO action found Breazeale finishing 14th after a scrape with the wall at Plymouth Dirt Track (Plymouth, Wisconsin).

“We’re digging deep right now on the road,” Breazeale noted. “It’s tough going to a lot of these tracks for the first time. My team is busting their tails, and I really appreciate all of their hard work. Hopefully we can knock down a win in one of these upcoming events.”

David continues to lead the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year chase and is ninth in the overall point standings. For full results from these events, please visit www.WoOLMS.com and www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com

Overton will be idle this weekend as he prepares for four nights of racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) next week, August 8-11. Action opens with a $12,000-to-win event on Wednesday, August 8, while a $10,000-to-win program will be contested on Thursday. Friday and Saturday will see the annual North/South 100 held, which will post a $50,000 top prize.

Meanwhile, Overton’s Franklin Enterprises teammate David Breazeale will be in action in a trio of World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series events. Action opens on Tuesday night at Shawano Speedway (Shawano, Wisconsin) with a $10,000-to-win affair before shifting to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) for the annual USA Nationals. Thursday’s program will see the WoO competitors chasing a $6,000 top prize, while Friday and Saturday will culminate with a $50,000-to-win finale.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 31, 2018) - Tony Stewart’s weekend in the Midwest with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 was frustrating, but beneficial, ultimately qualifying for three out of four main events against some of the toughest fields assembled during All Star competition in 2018. The driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car ended the four-race sweep with a respectable feature charge on Sunday night at 34 Raceway.

Perhaps Smoke’s most impressive performance of the weekend, Tony Stewart kicked-off his four-race trek on Thursday night, July 26, at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion earned a victory during his respective heat race, right before finishing second during the second of two dashes. Unfortunately for Smoke, mechanical woes forced the Columbus, Ind., native to retire from main event competition early while battling inside the top-five.

Stewart continued his weekend in the Midwest with a 17th place finish at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex on Friday, July 27; a fifth place finish during C-main competition at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway on Saturday, July 28; all capped off with an 11th place finish at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Sunday, July 29.

Although deep within the preliminary features, Stewart’s fifth place finish during C-main action was impressive, rallying from 11th on the grid after winning the evening’s D-main.

“It takes a lot of laps to build a comfort level in these race cars. I don’t think we are where we need to be yet, but we are getting close,” Tony Stewart explained. “We raced against some stout competition all weekend. We have another important weekend ahead of us so hopefully we can put our Knoxville Raceway notes to good use during the 360 Nationals.”

Tony Stewart will continue his 2018 campaign with another start at the Sprint Car Capital of the World - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The 28th Annual 360 Knoxville Nationals will headline action at the Marion County Fairgrounds on Thursday through Saturday, August 2-4. With the field split into two, separate qualifying rounds, Tony Stewart will attempt to earn his way directly into the 360 Knoxville Nationals A-main during the Thursday night qualifier. Nearly 100 entrants will make the call over the course of the weekend.

World of Outlaws Championship Standings (as of 7/31/2018): 1st - 6110 points (202-point margin over second place, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 31, 2018) - Although stuck behind the eight ball during the second half of his two-race weekend in the Empire State, nine-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, persevered and rallied in a big way, eventually ending the weekend with a pair of two-ten finishes, one of which the result of a hard charge from the inside of row eight. Schatz’s New York results increased his top-ten count to 41 in 43 World of Outlaws starts, 34 of them earned within the top-five. In addition, the Fargo, North Dakota native used his weekend results to maintain the current World of Outlaws championship point lead, now ahead of Brad Sweet by 202 markers.

Donny Schatz kicked-off his two-day sweep through New York with a stop at Ransomville Speedway on Friday night, July 27. Although missing the top spot on the podium, the driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car finished third at the final checkers after starting from the pole position, earning his point position by way of dash victory, just after finishing second during his respective heat race.

After an off-day on Saturday, July 28, Donny Schatz returned to World of Outlaws competition on Sunday evening, July 29, at the state-of-the-art Weedsport Speedway. Issues during qualifying forced the TSR entry to start shotgun during heat race action. Although transferring, Schatz was forced to start 15th on the main event grid, eventually mounting a charge to sixth. The feature rally earned Schatz the KSE Hard Charger Award for advancing the most feature positions.

“Sometimes things don’t go our way, but you can never count this team out,” Donny Schatz explained. “Having the ability to rebound like this is important, especially in terms of winning championships. Hopefully we can put all of the mistakes and mishaps behind us and head back west with a clear mind and complete focus.”

Donny Schatz will continue his 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series campaign with a pair of Ironman 55 starts at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., on Friday and Saturday, August 3 & 4. Each night will feature a complete program headlined with a 55-lap feature awarding $20,000 to the winner. Schatz finished second during the Night Before the Ironman in 2017.

Track: 34 Raceway (Burlington, Iowa)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 9th (13th)

ST. HELENA, Calif. (July 31, 2018) - Rico Abreu’s four-day campaign with Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions took the California native to four tracks in four days across three states; one of the season’s most demanding weekend swings. When the dust settled on Sunday night, Abreu had earned a pair of top-ten finishes in three feature starts, one of which inside the top-five. The driver of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Alpinestars/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car now owns 20 top-ten finishes in 2018.

Perhaps Abreu’s most impressive performance of the weekend, the St. Helena, Calif., native kicked-off the four-day trek through the Midwest with a fifth place finish during main event action at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., on Thursday, July 26. Head-turning enough, Abreu earned his top-five from well outside of the top-ten, actually charging ahead from 16th on the grid in 35 circuits. Abreu qualified for main event action by finishing fourth during his respective heat race.

Abreu’s second top-ten finish in four days occurred during the weekend's final night of action on Sunday, July 29, at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa. The former Chili Bowl Nationals champion finished ninth, officially, during the All Star Circuit of Champions A-main, advancing quickly from row seven.

Other weekend results include finishing 14th during action at the Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex on Friday, July 27, followed by an eighth place finish during B-main competition at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, July 28. Although his Knoxville run ended mid-pack in the B-main, Abreu showed some promise, actually moving ahead five spots in 12 laps against a stout field. There were 56 entrants in action.

“It wasn’t a bad weekend. I think we were a little disappointed with our performance at Knoxville especially with the Nationals coming up in a few weeks. I think we have time to get our program figured out,” Rico Abreu explained. “I can’t thank my team enough for their hard work and dedication this season. We’ve been racing a pretty wild schedule filled with a lot of late nights and long road trips. They work hard. I’m proud of them.”

Rico Abreu’s upcoming plans have yet to be determined. A weekend schedule will be posted on social media during the coming days.

Jesse Lowe Returns to Winning Ways with Pair of Weekend Triumphs
Crossville Speedway and Volunteer Motor Speedway on Deck

Crossville, Tennessee (07/31/18) – Jesse Lowe returned to his winning ways over the weekend with back-to-back wins in his home state of Tennessee in his Xtreme Pressure Washing #5j Baisley’s Body Shop/ CVR Race Car Late Model.

Lowe topped the competition on Friday night at Crossville Speedway before winning a thriller on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway. The victories brought his 2018-win total to five.

“Man, it felt good to get back in a CVR Race Car this weekend. It was an older car, but it drove like a dream,” Lowe commented. “We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Saturday night’s win was extra special because I had no brakes for almost the whole feature. There’s some great folks that continue to stand behind me through the thick and the thin, and I want to thank them all for making my racing operation possible.”

Jesse Lowe headed to Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee) on Thursday evening, where he was piloting the Oliver Racing Engines #5J CVR Crate Late Model. Starting the night by registering the second-fastest time in qualifying, Lowe topped Kyle Courtney, Clay Harris, Brandon Williams, and Rusty Ballenger at the line to pick up his fourth win of the season.

On Saturday night Jesse stopped at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee), where he was competing in a field of 15 Crate Late Models. Laying down the quickest lap in time trials, Lowe earned the pole position for the feature.

Despite losing his brakes on the second lap, Jesse Lowe made a pass for the lead on the last lap to register his fifth of the season. Mack McCarter, Trevor Sise, Austin Neely, and Taren Hurst completed the Top-5 finishers.
