Josh Richards Wins Second-Straight Dirt Track World Championship
Finishes Second in Final LOLMDS Standings

St. Marys, Ohio (10/22/18) – Josh Richards put a wrap on the 2018 season over the weekend by taking his Best Performance Motorsports #1 XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle in the 38th annual Rhino Ag Dirt Track World Championship (DTWC) presented by Optima Batteries at Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio).

On Sunday afternoon when the checkered flag dropped on the $100,000-to-win finale, Richards had picked up the coveted win for the second-straight year. The victory marked the third-straight DTWC victory for Best Performance Motorsports.

Richards was elated in Lucas Oil Victory Lane.

"It's an emotional day. I want to thank everyone at Best Performance Motorsports, especially Eric and Kelly Brock for giving me this opportunity. I'd also like to give a huge thank you to Randall Edwards. This is the third straight year that he has been the DTWC winner's crew chief. The same goes to Brad Ramsey, I'd like to thank him for working so hard all year long.

“I know there was a little rough stretch during the summer, but they kept working hard and kept their heads up. To win the first and the final race of the year I have to thank my dad [Mark Richards] and all my sponsors."

With a double-heat race format in effect, Richards finished fourth and second in his respective heats on Friday evening to earn enough passing points to lock him into the fifth-starting spot for Saturday's 100-lap finale. Unfortunately, as has been the theme lately, rain intervened and forced the finale to be postponed to Sunday afternoon.

When the $100,000 finale went green on a very cool Sunday afternoon, Richards began working his way forward in the Top 5. By lap 15 he began challenging Brian Shirley for the lead, and on lap 22 he finally took control of the top spot. Once out front, Josh never looked back as he led the remainder of the finale to score his second-straight win in the crown jewel event.

The victory marked his fourth of the 2018 campaign.

Josh finished second in the final LOLMDS 2018 standings behind only Jonathan Davenport. For full results from the weekend as well as the complete final series' standings, please visit www.LucasDirt.com .

The weekend marked the final event of 2018 for the Best Performance Motorsports Team. They would like to thank all of their sponsors and fans for another great season.

New Waverly, Texas (10/22/18) –
Tyler Erb may have been in a different ride over the weekend, but it didn’t slow his roll one bit. The Texas racer stayed red hot with a $6,000 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series win on Saturday night at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia).

Smoke scores second USCS win of season, third win overall during visit to Southern Raceway

Date: Friday, October 19th
Event: Hattiesburg Speedway Season Finale
Series: United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour
Track: Hattiesburg Speedway (Hattiesburg, Miss.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 5th (6th)

Date: Saturday, October 20th
Event: USCS at Southern Raceway
Series: United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour
Track: Southern Raceway (Milton, Fla.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (6th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 22, 2018) - Despite kicking off the weekend with some bad luck in Hattiesburg, Miss., Smoke persevered and charged for a United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour victory at Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida. Stewart, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car, rallied from sixth to earn his second USCS victory of the 2018 season, battling by National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee, Danny Smith, on lap 16 to do so.

For Smoke, the victory on October 20 bumped his overall total to three in 2018, adding his pair of USCS 360 triumphs to an All Star victory at BAPS Motor Speedway in late-August. Stewart’s first USCS win of the year took shape on Saturday, March 3, at the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi.

“It feels good to get another one of these,” Tony Stewart explained about his USCS victory. “I feel like we’ve been close a lot this year with the USCS, Friday included. Regardless, hats off to Jimmy and Marty for all of their hard work. Their schedule hasn’t been easy this year, but they keep their heads up and keep pushing forward”

Despite resulting in a top-five finish, Tony Stewart’s visit to Hattiesburg (Miss.) Speedway on Friday, October 19, was quite the roller coaster. After starting sixth on the feature grid, Smoke battled his way forward and was making a pass for second when disaster struck, ultimately getting collected in a spin. Restarting at the tail of the field, Stewart rebounded in a hurry and eventually worked his way back to fifth by the time the final checkers flew.

The top-five, added with his victory on Saturday, increased his season top-five total to 27.

On a side note, Tony Stewart and Tony Stewart Racing teammate Donny Schatz each earned victories on Saturday night during sprint car competition. Schatz’s triumph occurred during World of Outlaws action at Dodge City (Kan.) Raceway Park capping off a perfect night for the Brownsburg, Indiana-based race team.

Upcoming plans remain uncertain for Tony Stewart. Fans are encouraged to stay alert online, as well as on all of the available social media outlets.

World of Outlaws Championship Standings (as of 10/22/2018): 1st - 9574 points (278-point margin over second place, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 22, 2018) - For the sixth consecutive season, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz reached the 20-win mark during World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition, this time reaching that feat during a visit to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., on Saturday, October 20. The $10,000 victory, accomplished from the outside-front row, was attained during the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown, ultimately holding back at late race surge by World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender, Ian Madsen, to claim high honors.

Madsen led the first eight circuits before Schatz took over the top spot on lap nine. As the pair battled through traffic, Schatz took advantage, eventually driving around the familiar No. 18 as they raced back to the flagstand.

The victory included, Schatz now owns an astonishing 50 top-five finishes in 68 World of Outlaws starts, stretching his advantage in the WoO championship standings to 278 markers over Brad Sweet.

“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to drive for this team against this level of competition,” Donny Schatz stated, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car. “To reach 20 victories in a season says so much about my team’s work ethic and their level of motivation. I’m proud of them and what we have been able to accomplish in 2018. We still have a few races left on our schedule. We are not done yet.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing kicked off their trip to the Sunflower State on Friday, October 19, with a visit to Lakeside Speedway near Kansas City. Nearly attaining his 20th victory of the season one night prior, Schatz ended his Lakeside invasion second in the running order, ending a charge from the inside of row four.

Utilizing a restart just before the midpoint of the 30-lap program, Schatz capitalized and drove from fourth to third by the completion of lap 13, then taking the runner-up spot away from Sheldon Haudenschild with a bold move in turns three and four on lap 16. Although on a direct path toward the front, Schatz would finish one spot short, ultimately chasing Daryn Pittman to the final checkers.

Donny Schatz’s World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series campaign will continue on Friday and Saturday, October 26 & 27, with a return to the Keystone State, this time invading the Port Royal Speedway ‘Speed Palace’ for the 51st running of the Tuscarora 50. The Saturday night finale, stretching 50 laps in distance, will award a $51,000 top prize. Friday’s program will award an $8,000 payday.

Donny Schatz is the defending Port Royal Speedway Outlaw winner, keeping Pennsylvania and Port Royal favorite, Lance Dewease, in his rearview mirror. The 2017 event, the Nittany Showdown, awarded $10,000.

Abreu highlights Trophy Cup with top-five on opening night

Dates: Thursday through Saturday, October 18th- 20th
Event: 25th Annual Rico Abreu Racing Trophy Cup presented by Rudeen Racing
Series: Non-sanctioned event
Track: Thunderbowl Raceway (Tulare, Calif.)
Rico Abreu Finishes (Start):
Thursday: A-Main - 5th (13th)
Friday: B-Main - 5th / A-Main - DNQ
Saturday: A-Main - 22nd (7th)
Overall Trophy Cup Points: 20th

ST. HELENA, Calif. (October 22, 2018) - Despite a weekend filled with highs and lows, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu made the most of his 2018 Trophy Cup effort at Thunderbowl Raceway, highlighting the weekend with one top-five finish and qualifying for two out of three contested main events.

When the dust settled on Saturday night, Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Alpinestars/Rhino Wipe/Lucas Oil Products/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car, found himself 20th in the overall Trophy Cup standings.

On a positive side note, Jac Haudenschild, who was piloting a second Rico Abreu Racing entry during Trophy Cup weekend, scored the overall Trophy Cup title, as well as Friday’s main event win.

“It wasn’t the weekend that we wanted, especially after getting started on such a high note. Regardless, I’m proud of this team and what they were able to do this weekend,” Rico Abreu said. “Also, a big congrats going out to Jac Haudenschild on his Trophy Cup title. That’s pretty special and I’m excited to be a part of that feat.”

Rico Abreu’s Trophy Cup campaign kicked off with a fifth place finish on Thursday, October 18. Forced to do things the hard way, Abreu won his respective consolation B-main to earn his way into the Trophy Cup preliminary feature, ultimately climbing from 13th to clinch the fifth place performance.

Unfortunately, Abreu’s success was limited during the final two nights of the 25th Annual Trophy Cup in Tulare, California; a fifth place finish during his respective B-main was short of a transfer position on Friday, followed by an incident during the Saturday night finale. Unlike Friday, Abreu qualified for main event competition on Saturday and started seventh on the grid. Unfortunately, a crash ended all effort and Abreu was scored 22nd.

Future plans remain uncertain for Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu Racing. As of now, the team will be off during the upcoming weekend.
