Jeff Taylor Takes Central Arizona Speedway Prelim Checkers

Cave City, Arkansas (11/21/16) – Jeff Taylor continued his tour of the West over the weekend by taking his Industrial Electric #5 Taylor Chassis/ Mullins Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified into battle in a trio of events at Central Arizona Speedway. He enjoyed a solid weekend by scoring a win to go with three Top-5 finishes.

Jeff Taylor visited Central Arizona Speedway (Casa Grande, Arizona) on Friday night for opening round of the 3rd annual San Tan Ford Desert Thunder Nationals. Drawing 47 IMCA Modifieds for the three-day event, Taylor reeled in a Top-5 finish in the opening night feature. After earning his spot in the main event through the B-Main, Jeff wheeled his way to a 4th-place finish behind Ricky Thornton Jr., Lucas Schott, and Jeremy Thornton with Christy Barnett coming in 5th.

Starting in the 6th position for the second round on Saturday evening, Taylor persistently worked the low line early in the event before finding his way to the lead late in the race. Once out front he never looked back en route to his ninth victory of the season, outdueling Ricky Thornton Jr., Lance Mari, Shawn Strand, and Jason Noll.

On Sunday for the final leg of the Desert Thunder Nationals, Jeff scored a runner-up finish behind Ricky Thornton Jr. in the pole dash, locking his spot into the main event. With $3,000 on the line, Jeff Taylor held his starting spot throughout the finale, registering a runner-up finish behind Thornton with Tim Ward, Lucas Schott, and Spencer Wilson completing the Top 5 finishers.

“Obviously I would’ve like another win or two, but it really was a good weekend for us because these guys are really tough out here,” said Taylor. “It just feels good to be back racing on a regular basis again, and I hate to see this year drawing to a close.”

Donald McIntosh Grabs Gobbler Podium and Two Championships

Dawsonville, Georgia (11/21/16) – Donald McIntosh accomplished several goals over the weekend. The pilot of the Blount Excavating #7 Stowers CAT/ Rocket Chassis/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model not only claimed a podium finish in the annual Gobbler at Boyd’s Speedway, but he also clinched the Southern Nationals Bonus Series title and the overall Southern Nationals championship.

“I’m so proud of this team, we’ve had a phenomenal year,” said McIntosh. “To get a top three finish against this field of drivers is a big honor. “I can’t thank Larry Garner, Stowers Cat, Tennessee RV, Rocket Chassis, Vic Hill Racing Engines, and everyone enough who provides me with this amazing opportunity.”

Wrapping up the Southern Nationals Bonus Series season, Donald McIntosh traveled to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) on Friday night for the two-day, 28th annual Gobbler.

With 35 Super Late Models registered, McIntosh laid down a solid qualifying lap before winning his heat race to lock into Saturday night’s finale. Earning the pole position for the $10,000-to-win feature after the redraw, Donald led the first four laps of the 60-lapper before ultimately slipping back to a 3rd-place finish when the checkers flew. He trailed Brandon Overton and Chris Madden across the finish line with Dale McDowell and Jason Hiett completing the Top-5 finishers.

With his performance over the weekend, McIntosh clinched the $5,033 Southern Nationals Bonus Series title as well as the overall Southern Nationals championship, which was worth $5,000. The titles go with his Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals championship that he won earlier this year. The three titles bring his championship take on the year to more than $16,000.

Donald will put a wrap on 2016 this weekend as he travels to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) to compete in the inaugural Leftover. Swindell Records Seven Wins and Unique Feat During Strong 2016 Season

Inside Line Promotions – GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Nov. 21, 2016) – Sammy Swindell added to his already impressive racing résumé in 2016.

Swindell scored seven feature victories, including wins with the National Sprint League, Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series and the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, to give him at least one win each season for the past 46 years.

“It was mostly good,” he said. “I was able to do quite a few races and do some things I haven’t done before. We had some success at different levels. I tried to make the best of what I had and what I could do and I think we were able to do that.”

While Swindell captured National Sprint League triumphs at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, in June and July, and an All Star victory in August at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y., it was a win during the Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals in early August that stands out as the biggest highlight of the season.

Swindell became only the second driver to claim both the 410 and 360 editions of the Knoxville Nationals thanks to the trip to Victory Lane this year while driving for A.G. Rains.

“That was huge to go do that with this little team we have,” Swindell said. “Those guys haven’t done much of the other racing outside of Arkansas. To go to Knoxville and win, it was a huge deal.”

Swindell and Rains also swept the 29th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., in October. It marked Swindell’s fourth Short Track Nationals title and third in the last six seasons.

The team won a GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series event at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., in March as well.

“To have the record we had, it wasn’t out of the picture of winning every race we went to,” Swindell said. “We had a car capable of winning every race. I’m grateful for A.G. and his team and the opportunity they provided.”

Swindell’s two NSL wins and his All Star victory were with CJB Motorsports.

“I had a good group of guys working on the CJB car that made it a lot more enjoyable,” he said. “We had some great times.

“I want to thank everyone that supported me and continues to support me. I’m blessed to still be able to compete at this level and I’m thankful for the opportunities that continue to come my way.”

Swindell said he is unsure of 2017 plans beyond competing at the 31st annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals Presented by General Tire next January in Tulsa, Okla.
