Dylan Thornton Makes IMCA Super Nationals History at Boone Speedway
Becomes First Three-Division Super Nationals Winner

ORCUTT, Ca. (09/09/24) – Dylan Thornton Racing etched his name in the IMCA Super Nationals record books this past weekend at Boone Speedway. His $10,000 Modified victory on Saturday night at the third-mile Iowa oval marked his third Super Nationals title in three divisions.

The 2023 Stock Car Super Nationals champ followed up the Late Model title this past Monday with a triumphant victory in Saturday’s Modified finale aboard his Salty’s BBQ & Catering / Harris Auto Racing / Ruebel Electric No. 38T entry.

“Winning three different divisional championships was another goal and that was a huge accomplishment on its own,” Thornton said. “I think it will take a little while for me to really appreciate what I accomplished tonight. It’s incredible. I can’t really describe it right now.”

Thornton’s 42nd annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals kicked off on Monday in the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model at Boone (IA) Speedway with a stellar sixth-to-first run in the 30-lap main event. He outran Cory Dumpert late to secure the $3,000 payday and his 14th win of the 2024 season.

Later in the week with preliminaries on Wednesday through Friday setting the stage for the main events on Saturday night, Dylan’s bid for back-to-back titles in the Stock Car ranks ended in a Last Chance A-Main qualifier early Saturday evening, shifting his focus to the Modified.

In his Harris Auto Racing No. 38T Modified on Friday, Thornton advanced into the finale on Saturday with a preliminary feature victory.

Taking the green in sixth, Dylan shot into the lead with a third-to-first move on the sixth circuit and kept a charging Tanner Black at bay in the closing laps to claim the $10,000 Super Nationals triumph. He notched his 15th win of the 2024 campaign ahead of Black, Zack VanderBeek, Dallon Murty, and Austen Becerra.

“My goal for the last four years was to win both the Modified and the Stock Car the same night and I’ve come close,” Thornton added.  “Coming into this year, winning all three was 100 percent the goal. Obviously we started off really good on Monday but we didn’t lock the Modified in until Friday and didn’t make the Stock Car feature at all.”

The Orcutt, California native capped off his historic weekend with a stop at Eagle Raceway on Sunday for the Malvern Bank West Series-sanctioned Stewart Alley Memorial. Pinned on the seventh row for the $4,000-to-win A-Main via fourth-place heat result, Dylan climbed six positions aboard the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model to record an eighth-place finish.

Thornton has a busy upcoming weekend planned with Thursday’s Lucas Oil MLRA-sanctioned Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Speedway kicking off the festivities.

Following Friday’s Modified event at Maquoketa Speedway, his weekend will conclude with the $10,000-to-win Stock Car Nationals at Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday night.
