In just his second-ever attempt, Troutman parked the Three Sixteen Motorsports No. 317 Legend car in Victory Lane on Thursday. Capping off the weekend, Drake took his familiar Smith Transport No. 7 RFI Resources/ MB Customs/ LaSalle’s Racing Engine Modified to the winner’s circle in Saturday’s North Carolina Speedweek finale.

Drake Troutman kicked off a four-day stretch at Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway on Wednesday afternoon. In a field of 24 Southeast Dirt Modified Series entries, Troutman laid down the eighth fastest qualifying lap before placing second in his heat behind Chris Arnold.

Starting the $1,200-to-win A-Main in fifth, Drake showed speed early in the 25-lapper but ended up fifth when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Nick Hoffman, Taylor Cook, Chris Arnold, and Daniel Parker across the line.

Behind the wheel of the Three Sixteen Motorsports No. 317 Legend, Drake followed up the fastest lap overall in time trials with a third-place finish in his heat. With $500 on the line in the feature, Troutman was challenging for the lead early in the race but faded back late in the 25-lap affair to place sixth.

On Thursday evening, Troutman posted the ninth fastest lap overall in Modified qualifying, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the A-Main. Wheeling his way into a podium spot, Drake passed six cars to register a third-place finish, trailing Daniel Parker and Chris Arnold to the checkers. Taylor Cook and Richard Michael Jr. rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

In a field of 35 U.S. Legend Cars, Drake secured his spot into the feature with the second fastest lap in qualifying. Making a last-lap pass on fellow front-row starter Chris Transeau, Troutman soared to his third win of the season ahead of Transeau, Jake Garcia, Steve Duderstadt, and Joe Adam. He earned $500 for his efforts.

“I want to give a huge shoutout to Three Sixteen Motorsports,” Troutman said. “If you’re in the market for a new or used Legend car, contact Will and Shellie. Along with being a dealer and parts supplier, they possess a ton of knowledge to help you reach Victory Lane. I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity and I’m confident it’s only the start of a great relationship.”

Mother Nature washed out Friday night’s program at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

Returning on Saturday, Troutman recorded the third fastest lap in Modified qualifying before picking up an eight-lap heat race victory. Receiving the sixth-starting position for the A-Main via the redraw, Drake topped front-row starter Nick Hoffman to capture his fourth win of the season and a $5,000 prize. Hoffman, Chris Arnold, Todd Neidheiger, and Matt Crafton trailed him to the checkers in the 25-lap affair.

An ecstatic Troutman exclaimed: “What a race! I can’t say enough about this MB Customs, LaSalle’s Racing Engine, CMD Shocks Modified. The whole package has been phenomenal. Thank you to all of my sponsors for believing in me and their continued support, my fans, my awesome crew, my family, and especially God.”

In the No. 317 Legend, Drake locked into the pole position for his heat with the fastest lap overall in qualifying. Cruising to a heat race win, Troutman earned the pole for the $1,500-to-win finale. After giving up the lead early, Drake was gaining momentum on the high side when his motor ignited in flames, ending his night immediately.

Cory Hedgecock Racing Welcomes Austin Dillon and Corey LaJoie
NASCAR Racers to Compete in CHR Entries at the Bristol Dirt Nationals

LOUDON, Tenn. (03/02/21) – With the inaugural Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway just a few weeks away, Cory Hedgecock Racing (CHR) is proud to announce that a pair of NASCAR Cup Series drivers, will be competing in CHR-prepared entries at the historic event.

Both Austin Dillon and Corey LaJoie will be tackling the famed, half- mile oval March 15 – 20, 2021 in Crate Late Models fielded by the CHR stable.

“Excited doesn’t begin to describe how our team feels about being able to have two drivers of the caliber of Austin Dillon and Corey LaJoie in our cars,” Cory Hedgecock noted. “For my team and I, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of something of this magnitude. Again, I’m just super excited to work with these guys.”

Dillon is a two-time NASCAR champion, 2017 Coca-Cola 600 winner and 2018 Daytona 500 champion. He is in his eighth full-time season in the Cup Series driving the legendary No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for Richard Childress Racing.

Prior to his time in NASCAR, Dillon honed his driving skills by racing at dirt tracks across the country. His former crew chief and mentor, Shane McDowell, helped connect Dillon to Cory Hedgecock Racing.

“I raced at dirt tracks across the country during my early years in motorsports, so I’ve really been looking forward to the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway,” said Dillon. “It’s even more exciting that I will be able to try out the track a week before the Cup race thanks to this opportunity with Cory Hedgecock Racing. I’m passionate about Dirt Late Model racing, so I’m looking forward to experiencing Bristol on dirt. This will be a unique experience, for sure, so I’m very grateful to Shane McDowell, Cory Hedgecock and all of the partners who were able to work together to make this happen.”

“Our No. 3 Crate Late Model will carry primary sponsorship from K&L Ready Mix and E-Z-Go. K&L has been a long-time supporter of mine, and we’ve all been racing with heavy hearts since Ron Kahle [company founder] passed away last year. We’d love to win this one for him and his family, who continue to go out of their way to support my racing program. Additionally, E-Z-GO is and always has been a big supporter, so it’s an honor to have them as a part of our team.”

Meanwhile, LaJoie, who is the chauffer of the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Camaro in NASCAR Cup Series action, is also looking forward to playing in the dirt in advance of the upcoming Cup event at Bristol Motor Speedway.

“It’s kind of cool how this whole deal came together. Austin Dillon’s team reached out to my crew chief (Ryan Sparks) and told him about their plans to race for Cory Hedgecock Racing. From there it progressed into me piloting a team car at the Bristol Dirt Nationals,” revealed LaJoie. “I have zero dirt experience, so racing at the Bristol Dirt Nationals will be good to get me some seat time in advance of the NASCAR race there at the end of the month.

“I want to thank Danny Sanford with S&S Express Trucking out of Mississippi for his support of my team at this event. Danny has always been a great supporter of my asphalt Late Model program, and it means a lot to also have him involved with my dirt racing debut.”

Event details for the upcoming races at Bristol can be found at www.BristolMotorSpeedway.com.

Cory Hedgecock would like to thank all of his sponsors, which include E-Z-GO, Eagle Racing Engines, Budget Transmissions, Pace Performance, K&P Used Cars, Öhlins Shocks, Timeless Memories Photography, VooDoo Technologies, Rocket Chassis, Cobb’s Auto Parts, Brucebilt Performance, Vineyard Enterprise, Greens Recycling, Winters Performance, Quickcar Racing Products, MarTel Sign Company, MSR Mafia Marketing Services, Hoosier Racing Tire, and VP Fuels.

Hedgecock would all like to say a special thanks to his wife Katie and daughter Lily, Dad, Mom, Grandad Mike, and everyone that helps his team.

Nick Hoffman Wins North Carolina Modified Speedweek Opener
Increases 2021 Win Total to Four

Mooresville, North Carolina (03/02/21) – Nick Hoffman raced his Elite Chassis No. 2 Fox Shocks Modified to his fourth win of the 2021 season with a triumph in last Wednesday night’s North Carolina Modified Speedweek Opener at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

“The Speedweek started perfectly with an clean sweep of the night’s program, but from there we were just a tick off in the rest of the events,” Hoffman said. “It was nice getting to race close to home for a change, so that was a definite plus, but we obviously had hoped for more wins. We’ve got speed though, and with a few tweaks I know we’ll be exactly where we need to be.”

Nick Hoffman kicked off the inaugural North Carolina Modified Speedweek on Wednesday night at Fayetteville Motor Speedway (Fayetteville, North Carolina). With 24 entries entered, Hoffman completed a clean sweep of the night. He started his evening by setting fast time in qualifying, and backed it up with a heat race, which positioned him on the pole for the 25-lap feature. Nick went on to wire the field in the feature to score the $1,200 top prize and his fourth win of 2021.

On Thursday night the action continued with round No. 2 of the scheduled, four-race swing. Via his preliminary efforts, Hoffman was positioned 14th on the feature grid, but was an early retiree from the feature. He was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

After seeing Friday night’s program nixed by rain, the week’s action drew to a close on Saturday night with a $5,000 winner’s check on the line. By virtue of his performances in the preliminary events, Hoffman locked into the outside-front-row, starting spot for the 25-lap finale. He ran in a podium position throughout the feature, before crossing the finish line in the second spot behind Drake Troutman with Chris Arnold, Todd Neiheiser, and Matt Crafton rounding out the Top-5 finishers.

The team is currently evaluating when their next race will be, and once confirmed will be posted on the team’s online home at www.NickHoffman2.com.
