Cory Hedgecock Runner-Up in Lucas Oil Stop at 411
Iron-Man at Volunteer Speedway this Saturday

LOUDON, Tenn. (07/02/20) – Cory Hedgecock gave his home-track fans plenty to cheer about on Friday night with his impressive runner-up finish in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.).

Hedgecock raced from fifth on the starting grid to finish second in his E-Z-GO No. 23 Pace Performance/ Budget Transmissions/ Rocket Chassis/ Eagle Racing Engine Late Model, posting his best career LOLMDS finish.

Hedgecock was one of 38 entries on hand for Tennessee’s Action Track 50 at 411 Motor Speedway. Following the third fastest lap in his time trial group, Cory posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Jimmy Owens, which positioned him fifth on the starting grid for the $12,000-to-win main event.

In the 50-lap affair, Hedgecock battled inside the Top-5 throughout the race. In the closing laps, he avoided a melee in lapped traffic to claim the runner-up spot behind Owens. Jonathan Davenport, Shane Clanton, and Shanon Buckingham rounded out the Top-5.

The young gun was all smiles after climbing from his car to stand on the podium. “We are absolutely happy with that finish. We appreciate everyone coming out and supporting us. Hats off to Jimmy, he was definitely fast. I saw Overton and Hardy wearing each other out and I thought they were going to wreck in front of me and tear my stuff all up. We knew if we could finish behind that 20 car it was going to be a good night.”

In a field of 42 cars for Saturday’s LOLMDS E-Z-GO 50 at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.), Hedgecock secured his spot into the $12,000-to-win finale with a third place finish in his heat. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Cory jumped up six spots in the 50-lapper to place sixth.

Troutman Bags Fourth Win of 2020 with Bedford Triumph
Busy Independence Weekend on Tap

HYNDMAN, Pa. (07/02/20) – For the third time this season, Drake Troutman parked his Smith Transport No. 7 RFI Resources/ MB Customs Modified in Victory Lane.

The triumph came in dominating fashion on Friday night at Bedford (Pa.) Speedway. Including his Super Late Model victory on May 24 at Potomac Speedway, it marked Troutman’s fourth overall win of the season.

“I wasn’t happy with the car after the heat, so my dad and the team worked hard to change everything but the motor,” said Troutman. “In feature I had a bad fast car and was able to get the win from fourth. This MB Customs, CMD Race Shocks Modified was absolutely the best car I’ve ever drove in the slick. The LaSalle Racing Engine in this car ran flawless as well. Thank you to my crew, sponsors, and fans.”

Troutman started his weekend on Wednesday night at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway competing in the Late Model portion of the Keith Kauffman Classic. In a field of 32 cars, Troutman timed in fifth fastest in his group before placing fifth in his heat. Starting the $3,000-to-win A-Main in 20th, Drake was an early retiree from the 25-lapper on the ninth lap.

On Thursday afternoon at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) for the 14th Annual Firecracker, Drake was challenging for a transfer spot in his heat race when a blown motor brought an immediate end to his night.

The following night at Bedford Speedway pulling double duty, Troutman gained three spots in his Late Model heat race to place third. After challenging for a podium finish early, Drake faded late in the feature to register a sixth-place finish.

In his Modified, Drake scored a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him fourth on the starting grid for the main event. Gaining control of the top spot at the drop of the green flag, Troutman went unchallenged to take the checkers ahead of Evan Taylor, Mike Altobelli Jr., Greg Moore, and Mitch Thomas in the 25-lapper.

On Saturday evening at Winchester (Va.) Speedway in the Modified ranks, Troutman ran into a handful of mechanical issues that prevented him from making the call for the A-Main.

Closing out the action-packed weekend on Sunday, Drake stopped at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (Markleysburg, Pa.) powering his Smith Transport No. 7 Late Model entry. Before the features were able to get underway, Mother Nature made an appearance and postponed the remainder of the program to a later date.

The weekend will conclude with the Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Sunday, July 5.

Garrett Alberson Has Sights Set on MLRA Rookie of the Year
Tripleheader Independence Weekend on Deck

SHREVEPORT, La. (07/02/20) – Garrett Alberson recently announced his intent to bid for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Association (MLRA) Rookie of the Year. Alberson clawed his way closer to that title during the tour’s southern swing over the weekend.

Kicking off a four-day stretch, Garrett drove the Ken & Beth Roberts-owned No. 59 Bader Construction/ Capri College/ Black Diamond Chassis Late Model to a Top-5 finish on Wednesday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

The 31-year-old notched two other Top-10 finishes during the weekend at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor Creek, Okla. His only performance outside the Top-10 was an 11th place outing on Thursday at Outlaw Motor Speedway in Oktaha, Okla.

“In a championship battle, it’s not just about winning, consistency is key,” said Alberson. "I think the first weekend showed we weren't where we need to be on preparations, and we didn't have as good of game plan as we needed. This weekend we were much better. If we can progress and get everything going and organized, I think both of us have a shot at winning some races.  We've got good cars and good motors and good people around us, so I don't see why we shouldn't be able to make a go at it."

Alberson headed to Lucas Oil Speedway on Wednesday afternoon for the Midweek Mayhem. With 36 cars registered in for action, Garrett followed up the second fastest time in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Jake Timm.

Clawing forward three spots in the 40-lap feature, Alberson notched a fourth-place finish behind Johnny Scott, Payton Looney, and Jesse Stovall with Jeremy Grady coming in fifth.

On Thursday evening at Outlaw Motor Speedway, Alberson edged his way into the $3,000-to-win A-Main with the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Improving five spots in the 40-lap affair, Garrett posted an 11th place outing.

The following night at Salina Highbanks Speedway for the two-day ARMI Freedom Classic, Garrett jumped up four spots in his heat to place third. Gaining two positions in the 30-lap feature, Alberson posted a 10th place finish.

For the $5,000-to-win finale on Saturday afternoon, Alberson logged a seventh-place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main. Scoring a third-place finish, Garrett locked into the 21st-starting position for the main event. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Garrett Alberson passed 14 cars in the 40-lapper to register a 7th place finish.

The Independence weekend will see the Roberts Motorsports team entering a trio of events with the Lucas Oil MLRA. The action kicks off on Friday, July 3 with a $10,555-to-win event at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. On Saturday, the team will make the trip 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa for a $5,000-to-win program. The weekend concludes with a $5,000-to-win event on Sunday, July 5 at Rock Island County Fairground in East Moline, Ill.

Garrett is currently tied for fifth with Mitch McGrath in the latest Lucas Oil MLRA point standings. He is second behind his teammate, Jeremiah Hurst in the Rookie of the Year chase.
