For immediate release: Stewart, Franek and Mark Smith top USCS National and Deep South regional sprint point standings as of Feb. 23rd Atlanta, GA – February 27, 2019 – After five 2019 events including a win for himself, Tony Stewart from Columbus, Indiana still leads the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters point standings in the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour National and USCS Deep South regional series divisions. Stewart, who was the February 22nd winner at Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida last Friday, February 22nd and the runner-up in the 30-lap A-Main at Southern Raceway on Saturday, February 23rd maintains a scant 11 point lead over Sussex, New Jersey driver Davie Franek who was a winner earlier in the season at Bubba Raceway Park on Friday, February 8th.Franek is followed in the standing by two-time 2019 USCS sprint car feature winner Mark Smith from Sunbury, Pennsylvania, who moved up a notch into third place after a strong weekend at Southern Raceway with a runner-up finish behind Stewart on Friday night. He then held off Stewart in Saturday night’s main event for his second win of the season in the series. He was the February 9th winner at Bubba Raceway Park. Sprint Car Hall of Fame 2015 Inductee and legendary Midwest sprint car veteran, Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio moved up two positions into fourth place in the National and Deep South regional series point standings with two sixth place finishes after starting deep in the field on both nights. Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina who was the series 1998 USCS Rookie of the Year, moved into the top five drivers in the standings by advancing three positions over the weekend. Bridges had his best finish so far in 2019 finishing in fourth place in the A-Main on Saturday night at Southern Raceway. Eleven-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee leads the next group in sixth place in the standings after a ninth-place finish on Friday night and a DNF on Saturday night during the two-race weekend. USCS Rookie of the Year contender and points-leader, Bobby Tersillo from Campbell Hall, New York moved up five spots into seventh place after two top ten finishes over the weekend. Veteran USCS racing regular, Tony Agin from Fort Myers. Florida ranks eighth in the National and Deep South regional standings while 2015 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Nick Snyder from Marco Island, Florida is in ninth place after a top five and top ten effort over the weekend at Southern Raceway. Mark Ruel, Jr from Jacksonville, Florida rounds out the top ten drivers in the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters National and Deep South regional series point standings. After this coming weekend’s Rounds #7 and #8 stops at Hattiesburg Speedway and Magnolia Motor Speedway have been postponed and reschedule for March 15th and 16th due to weather, the next USCS Winter Heat mini-series events are set for Chatham Speedway in Chatham.
